Park Soomin was raised in Seoul, South Korea. The only child of high school sweethearts who kept it together for the sake of their baby, by the age of 6, she realised she was more of a hinderance to her parents than a product of love to cherish and take care of. This meant she kept to herself at home and getting good grades. She dreamed of getting out of there, making a life for herself away from the people in her home city.
Her strained relationship with her parents made her act out in her teen years, which those around her assumed was just a result of teenage hormones, but it was more so a cry for attention. She consistently got into drama at school, even engaging in physical altercations. The last fight was when she was expelled from school in her senior year, just shy of 6 months from graduating.
Mr and Mrs Park were furious about the expulsion, especially since she was so close to finishing, and they ordered her out of the house. They weren’t going to tolerate her behavior, nor pick up the pieces. They were done, and honestly? It was a relief for her when she was asked to leave. This meant she could start fresh and make something of herself.
A family friend took her in so she could get a job, get back on her feet and eventually find her own accommodation when she was able to. She worked several jobs before she could make a deposit on an apartment to rent and once she moved out of the friend’s house, she felt free.
Along the way, Soomin built up a small following on her personal Instagram posting outfits of the day, make-up pictures and selfies, which led to local companies paying her to promote their products. It started small, but it was bringing in more money than any of her other jobs.
After a few years, she got bigger and bigger online and this allowed her to move to New York. She was already well-known in South Korea, but she was determined to break into the international scene. She’d always been dazzled by New York City from what she saw on the screen, but she wanted to immerse herself into the city for real.
5 years since moving, Soomin (who now goes by Susie) has amassed a following of over 3 million and counting. She’s developed a fun-loving, bright, enchanting persona, but some of that is mostly a facade. She isn’t as sweet as she appears to her followers. Even at the age of 26, she’s still getting into drama, and in her own circle, she has a queen bee reputation. She’s capable of destroying you if she wants to, or she’ll be your very best friend. There’s no in-between.
Susie also has a cocaine problem, she’s become very dependent on it, and uses it daily. It started as a social, party thing but spiralled into an addiction, but she won’t admit that she has a problem.
