This one shows all of his feelings on his face. Before answering he leans forward. “I believe it is your trust in me, but I would work on a better poker face if I were you.”
He waves a hand dismissively. “‘Use’ is such a harsh term. Lestat is a convenient leader. All know of him, and so many of the young ones revere him. They will to him listen when we mandate to kill only evil-doers, or ask permission before turning another. Easy rules, and easily followed if it comes from the Brat Prince. Everard sat down in the chair opposite Seth who was reading something. He did not necessarily want to disturb him but he found him alone which was rare. He sat forward and rested his elbows on his knees.
“Look,” he started, with a sigh. Being serious asked a lot of energy from him. “I first want to get two things straight. Whatever you may think of me, I am not on his side.” he meant Rhoshamandes. He wanted to have that cleared. He didn’t want to get killed by this guy by some misconstrued assumption. The guy seemed to think in ultimatums and Everard rather place himself somewhere in the middle for the sake of survival, than being mistaken as the enemy. “That, and I really hate it to be called ‘Child’.” he said fiercely through gritted teeth. “We’re not in church nor at the dining table and last time I checked, you didn’t turn me to darkness. Quit that degrading imprudence and we can talk, alright?”
Some might gasp at the way he spoke to ‘an ‘Elder’, but Everard didn’t give a shit. He believed strongly that respect had to be earned and he was of the opinion Seth had to come off his high horse first to get any. There were a lot of high horses in this so called court, making it feel more like a manure stained barn instead.
The new scientific journals came as soon as they were published, though Seth was only given them after Fareed had canvassed them for information he might need. Though this particular one was not concerning medicine, he still tried to learn as much as possible. A preternatural heartbeat entering the room was nothing odd, but what did cause Seth to look up was the scent. Everard. Though he had enjoyed their talk, he was certain that they were diametrically opposed.
Not wanting to be rude, he sets the book aside when Everard begins talking. He’s still, able to become more statue than man, not giving away any of his thoughts or feelings.
“Fine. I am not sure we have anything to speak about, but fine.”
'Fine’ was good enough. Good enough to fall back on were it to happen again. The rest said however annoyed him. It was an obnoxious way of saying opinions has already been made. Especially in contrast to how the previous conversation had started and had went down for the most part.
“Really?” he asked slightly sarcastically with a frown. “First you show immense interest and now 'we don’t have anything to speak about’? What exactly does that mean? Because if you have an opinion about me I’d like to know it.”
