a while back we had this realization that “trans rights” and “good night” have basically the same length, so… we started saying “trans rights” instead of “good night”.

and like… it’s nothing. other trans ppl think we’re weird, it likely has no effect on how ppl see trans ppl, it’s basically nothing. and yet… why not, we guess?

it somehow helps us feel happier and more comfortable. literally, in the worst of days, we feel kinda… awkward about saying it, but even then, it kinda becomes the highlight of our day. we can have the crappiest day and saying “trans rights o/” when we go sleep can lift us up a little.

we had that realization while we were panicking about anti-trans violence back in late march, around TDOV.

the real reason we do this is because we believe it to be an effective way to push back against the kind of anti-trans violence we keep seeing. especially if more ppl did it.

it’s a harmless silly thing, but as with any symbol it holds so much power behind it.

Yeah, you support people who want to be fucked while they age regre-I mean, while they're cute little, innocent babbling toys. But are you normal about people who want to fuck them when they're cute little, innocent babbling toys?

Yeah, you support people who want to be fucked while they're drunk or unconsc-I mean, while they're asleep and high. But are you normal about people who want to fuck them while they're asleep and high?

Yeah, you support people who want to be beat up and cut-I mean, bruised and marked. But are you normal about people who want to bruise and mark them?

Yeah, you support people who want to be fucked by their parents and sib-I mean, by their pretend siblings, step bros, step sisters, mommies and daddies. But are you normal about people who want to be their pretend siblings and parents?

Yeah, you might support people having fucked up, dark, disgusting kinks, but are you actually ok with the people who will do fucked up, dark, disgusting things to them?

To these people, it's all about meeting the threshold of what's socially acceptable. They will even pretend to be supportive of the 'fucked up, dark, disgusting kinks', except "the Actually Bad Ones."

They will share these kinks as long as the language used to talk about them is sanitized enough, as to distance the kink from its problematic aspects. It gives them leeway to say "I'm not into this gross, depraved thing. They are. I'm 'normal' about it, unlike those freaks who call someone their dad, or the people that babble like babies and use diapers, or the people who bark and pretend they're animals, or those who cut and want bruises on their bodies."

The self-censoring of darker kinks to make them appear more palatable is a response to the disgust (and maybe shame) of being into things that are considered socially immoral. So, they have to make it so what they're into is "not that disgusting, depraved thing", but something that's normal.

It's a lot of internalized shame, societal conformity, and fear of embracing that which will make u an outcast and a social reject. It's also the need to be being more morally righteous, and impure.

"It's ok to want to call the person breeding you daddy, as long as you don't call it incest, which is disgusting and depraved."

Barring that, though, snowblowers also seem like a good idea. You start the appliance, push it down the street, and all the snow becomes your neighbour's problem at incredible speeds. There's just one problem: snowblowers are a complex mechanical system that requires maintenance. In fact, their primitive small-enginey ways require more maintenance than a car, which is already well beyond the capability envelope of most so-called adults in the current era. Nobody knows how to rebuild a carburetor anymore, not when they can just spend another $600 to get another snowblower.

This means that in the spring, tons of snowblowers with dicky carbs, broken augers, or seized engines turn up on the curb or for a few pennies. These infernal machines let the owners down when they needed them most, and now the humans are getting their revenge. To me, it is shocking that someone would throw away a perfectly-good appliance just because it doesn't work at all in any way.

could you have a normal conversation with a 50 year old transsexual who still considers himself a mother to his son? can you be in community with retransitioners and genderqueer people with non-normative transition trajectories? can you have a nice chat with someone who was afab and calls themself transfemme, or with someone who was amab and calls themself transmasc?

and even more! do you welcome the guy in a dress who calls himself a transvestite and has been doing drag every saturday for the past 10 years to your pride parade? are you willing to hear out the young woman who had bottom surgery at 18 and now kinda wishes she didn't? do you actually respect the people who decide not to go on hrt or to get surgery due to their family's medical history?

they may be hypothetical to you, but those are the people i have met and hang out with every day.

She has not spoken her thoughts publicly on Israel and Palestine when she was alive.

Best case scenario, the sticker was put on the statue because people think she would support Palestine.

Worst case scenario, the sticker was placed there because she was Jewish.

The thing is, the best case scenario isn't even good! At best within the best case, you are putting words in a dead person's mouth and worst case within the best case is that you'd think she'd denounce being jewish for palestine. Which is fucked.

Vandalizing a statue of a famous jew is not activism. It is not spreading the word of supporting Palestine. It does absolutely nothing to help those in Gaza.

All it does is show that you either view dead jews as a conduit for your opinions regardless of their actual opinions or think that Jewish symbols need to be hidden because of what's going on in Palestine.
