This archive will serve as one place to post everything that there is about Son Gina and is complementary to my AO3 account, as I am primary a writer. Basically, I thought I needed a place where I can put information about her when I don't feel like explaining her lore a millionth time in my fic. You will find bellow all the information you need about the character, her relationship to others and my fics master list.

Gina was created for the lack of female fighters during the time I was reading Dragon Ball when I was a child and felt compelled to make someone who would kick ass and to whom I could look up to growing up. Little did I know, I was about to create an OC that would last with me for 17 years. I didn't even pair her with Trunks at that timeâthat came a bit later when I first watched GT and had my awakening.
Ginaâs name is pronounced with a hard G!

Gina is Goten's younger twin and her name is to be deciphered as "earth's silence" opposed to Goten's "heaven's word" and a word play for âgingerâ. Since Goten doesn't have a specific birth date in canon, I made their birthday the 26 of May, which is the same date as Goku's death, which I find extremely ironic. I also like to think that Launch was the one who helped Chi-Chi during birth, which made her the twins god mother.
All in all, I follow canon pretty closely. Gina was the third to turn Superâwhich still makes her the second youngest Super. Her relationship with Chi-Chi was pretty complicated, because even young, Gina didn't really fit into what Chi-Chi would expect of her daughterâit did change as she grew up.
She dies at age 7 during the Buu arc and kinda never recovers from itâbut then how a child would really recover from having their heart ripped out of her bodyâalso due to the fact that nobody talked to her properly. This spiraled her obsession with death and near-death experiences.
As she grows, she doesnât quite fit into what is expected of her as a woman either, and that disconnect became a really important part of who she is. She is on the demisexual spectrum, which shapes the way she relates to intimacy and emotional attachment. Because she grew up mostly around men, she also had a certain emotional isolation early on until Marron and Bra grew up enough to be interesting to her. At her core, Gina is quite difficult and guarded, and a little self-destructive, but sheâs also deeply feeling under all her armorâshe's someone who is full of rage and love and who has no idea what to do with any of it. Basically she's emotionally constipated and loves very hard, very badly.
Her whole relationship with Trunks is very push-and-pull and in all the different stories either one or the other is yearning, but more often both are and they are idiots about it. They are also best friend, so it's a best-friends to lovers situation.
She is an astrophysicist/space engineer, her fighting style leans more into acrobatic movementsâshe's good with hand-to-hand combat and quite deadly in a crowd control situation, but is bad at using anything that requires big ki-blasts and waves. Between Goten and Trunks she is the fastest opposed to Trunks who has a lot of raw power and doesn't know what to do with it and Goten who is impossible to exhaust. On a more unhinged note she learned how to shut off parts of her nervous system, like pain receptors, in extreme situations, which is very bad for someone who is quite suicidal in battle. She knows how to turn her Super form into a ki-blade which is very canon to her fighting style.
She is nearsighted just like Gohan, who got it from Ox-King, and always wears contactsâshe's very shy about anyone learning she's wearing glasses. On a funny note Vegeta once hit her so hard her contacts fell out.
She places herself between absurdism and nihilism, her favorite movie is Vertigo and she smokes, a lot. She dies a second time during the GT events with Omega Shenron.
Character wise, I'd say she's a good person, she cares, sheâs funny, sheâs a good listener, but she chooses to be cynical because of her abandonment issues and avoidance that she took from Goku. She is quick to take offence which is explosive with Trunks who is a yapperâfunnily enough she often says what she thinks.
I find it funny that during childhood Goten looked like Goku and Gina like Chi-Chi and it took a 180 turn when they grew up where Gina looks a lot like Goku now.
