     ”why the hell are you      on the floor?”

❝ I dropped something, ❞ she offers simply. ❝ I can't say it's the most comfortable. ❞

❝ Well I suppose that’s understandable. It’s a baby tortoise.❞

❝ Really? ❞ She tilts her head with a jerk of her neck. ❝ I'd seen them in books, but never in the outdoors. Does it need help? ❞

        “—it’s just a hedgehog. I haven’t been able to         figure out why he’s GREEN. Not yet, anyways.”

❝ Camouflage, maybe? ❞ she offers with a grin. ❝ They're brown, normally, right? Doesn't sound like there's a lot of variety. ❞

after tonight i’m gonna be peaceing out for a few days to take care of some personal business. i should be back no later than thursday afternoon, however, and i will be on skype at zombiejosette if anyone needs me for anything!!

"I promise this isn’t what it looks like."

❝ It never is, ❞ Victoria grins. ❝ But I guess that depends on what it's supposed to look like. ❞

❝ Don’t be such a wimp ❞ The girl was probably right, but there was no fun in being cautious. ❝ What could possibly go wrong? ❞

❝ You could drown, for starters, ❞ she said, point blank. Victoria was all for risky behavior, taking chances, so on and so forth - but death was another matter entirely. 

"And what would you recommend?" He was curious, though not entirely reckless. 

❝ Have you tried a will? ❞ she offered - in jest, of course, evidenced by the way her mouth twitched upward. ❝ A fire extinguisher couldn't hurt. ❞

   ❝ Why aren’t you answering my calls? ❞

❝ I've been busy. ❞ Her eyes flick away for a moment, hands wringing all the while. ❝ I guess I lost track of time. Sorry. ❞

     (  He wasn’t the bad guy, either. Not really, anyways. He just         liked to act like he was. Being a prince of Voodoo, a Houngan,         a lover of the left-hand of Voodoo made that easy. Just because         his beliefs, morals, and interests were unconventional didn’t         mean he was a terrible person. Well, most of the time, anyways. )

❝ Not many people do, ❞ she offered after a moment, a quick beat of reflection. It was true enough, as was the reverse; not many people admitted to being bad, either. How strange, to feel as though they were caught somewhere in between, leaning one way or the other. ❝ But sometimes it's not so black and white as it seems. ❞

         ❛ A sibling? Neighbor? ❜

❝ The boy I'm tutoring, ❞ she elaborates. ❝ His aunt is busy, and I think he'd like to get out of the house, even just for a little while. ❞  

    ❛ Really? Why is that? ❜

❝ Strict parents. ❞ Without missing a beat. ❝ Don't worry - I'm taking a child with me. ❞

❝ I never got the opportunity as a child. I think they can let it slide for a year. ❞
