Eeveelutionary prequel: the route to god
(it's a prequel to a separate PokĂŠmon story I'm writing)
Warnings: metions of death? Or otherwise the world ending nobody has died yet
This was it, the world was going to end. And it was all anyone could ever really talk about, news headlines werenât shutting up about it, the internet was blowing up, and people all over the world lost their jobs. Companies went down and chaos befell the regions, all for what⌠sure nothing no longer mattered in the grand scheme of things but was it all really worth going crazy over? At least thatâs what Ameila thought, her mind simply couldnât grasp what was happening around her even if it slapped her in the face she had a dull outlook over everything. It was a sad way of thinking but it was her way of coping even if she couldnât remember why.
Ameila stared off into the horizon; it wouldn't be long now.. A few days give or take? Maybe even less. The sun seemed to bid them farewell for today as the skies slowly changed from an orange and pink canvas to the sea of blue ink âAmes!â She perked up at that nickname. She turned around to see her friend. She didnât smile but her face softened âEmilio, Hi.â she slid off the rock she was laying on as she waited for Emilio and his partner pokemon Delphox to slow their pace "Where ya been?â He asked panting with each word âWhat? Iâve been in my house and sometimes the pokemon center. We've definitely seen each other during this time?â
He gave her a weird look, his nose always wiggled when he did that âNo? I've barely seen you all week!â he said with a dramatic wave
âWhatever, I'm here now and I want to have a battle!â he smiled, Delphox perked up at that waving its stick with a fierce yip, Ameila tilted her head then shrugged âAlrightâŚâ with a fist pump her friend took his stance farther from her âI choose you!â he pointed, his partner pokemon obeyed jumping forward and blowing fire through its stick âMust you always be dramaticâ Ameila said tediously, Emilio's response was flicking at his orange haired bangs with a shrug Ameila reached for her belt and tossed out a pokèball the spherical orb spinning in the air like a top âI choose you!â out from the ball came her partner pokemon a slowpoke who cooed slowly âDerpy! Hey!â Emilio waved enthusiastically.
Ameilaâs brow twitched in confusion as she sighed not dwelling on it âUse hydro pump!â the doopey pokemon responded by getting on all fours and running, leaving a gust of wind behind it âDonât let it catch you Cinder!â âCinder? âuse: shadow ball!â The fire fox pokemon dodged the first splash of water.
It reached for it's stickâit resmbled a bubble wand with a spin of the stick purple fire fromed around it, heading straight for Derpy âDodge it Slowpoke!â slowpoke dropped flat down on its stomach as the fireballs flew past it and into the trees knocking down a few pecha berries âDonât underestimate us, weâve been training!â Emilio said with a smirk, Ameila stared off into the distance then shook her head âAh, cool.â
âDonât get distracted by our coolness Amy, use: flamethrower!â
Delphox roared as it took a deep breath and blew a wave of fire into its stick aiming straight for slowpoke âUse protect!â a green shield formed around slowpoke countering the move. Emilio blinked with surprise âWowâŚâ he muttered reaching for his notebook in his bag âIâll account for that next tim-..â he paused putting his pencil to paper but not writing Ameila stood up straight her otherwise blank face softening âEmmy.. you okay?â
Emilio bit hard onto his lip, his cheeks warming up, waterworks began to pour down his face. Quickly Ameila, Cinder, and Slowpoke all moved towards the disheartened trainer making it in time to catch him in her arms he broke down from there, what felt and sounded like bottle up water finally shattering from the tiniest mineral of sand, Ameila held onto him afraid that if she let him go he might disappear⌠Why? She was confusing herself more than she needed too. With a shake of her head she leaned into him resting her head on the side of his âAre you okay?â She said noiselessly, almost afraid too. âEmillio?â his eyes staining red and his cheek burning and warm âIâŚâ he started his words catching in his throat like a hookline. âI.. I don't want to dieâŚâ
Ameila blinked back to the Pokèmon Center tired from the journey she just had, which almost involved falling off a cliff. The channel playing on the flatscreen hooked above them a Pokèmon sports channel.. Wrestling? Whenever she looked at the tv the picture would blur and the audio was no better, something familiar yet foreign. The sound of the center chimed its usual homey theme as the pink haired nurse and her Audino..? No it was a Chanesy, yeah that. The nurse smiled at Ameila placing a tray of colorfully arranged pokeballs âYour all set to-â
âWe interrupt this program with unfortunate news..â a reporter with bob-like brown hair, pearl earrings and a green top stared into the camera, her face written with sorrow. She hesitated before speaking again âPokèmon researchers Professor Oak, Elm, and Birch have just revealed that the alpha pokemon Arecus has sent them a message, a few months ago they decoded that message and it was revealed that the pokèmon in question planned to kill all human kindâ
Everyone froze, Nurse joyâs eyes widened and went pinpricked, the reporter continued âAll the professors from different regions are doing their best to negotiate or stop this plan from carrying out, this is what professor Oak had to sayâ
The camera cut to an interviewer with fluffy blue hair tied back into two ponytails, she wore a pink top and had orange pearl earrings. âIâm here now, Professor Oak, can you tell us more about this message?â Professor Oak, in his usually gruff looking appearance, placed his hands behind his back and closed his eyes. âWe received this message about three months ago. I had been working on a pokemon translator in the lab, and that is how we were able to decode and receive the message, we are doing everything we can.â The interviewer nodded, âHow come nothing has happened?â
âThis is due to the Order pokemon Zygard had been keeping it at bayâŚâ the professor opened his eyes, turning to the camera, his serious expression softening âBut iâm afraid we havenât received a word from Zygrade since.â
The interviewer cleared her throat âThat was all, thank you for talking to Pokemon news flash. Back to youâ
It cut back to the news station, the reporter continued to talk Ameila grabbed her pokèballs from the tray attaching them back to her belt when she looked, Nurse Joy was utterly devastated she went from clasping her hands over her mouth to crying and hugging her Chanesy who didnât seem to register what was happening, not even Ameila could. âHey⌠please donât cry, it'll be okay..â Ameila reached forward but her hand was smacked by a spikehaired trainer with brown hair. He spoke weirdly, âARE YOU KIDDING???â He shouted âWeâre all going to die and you're telling her to not panic!?â
âI said she shouldnât cryâ Ameila mumbled
âAre you even listening, what is wrong with you!?â the trainer continued to shout grabbing the girl by her collar Ameila reached for a pokèball at her belt
âStop it both of you!â Nurse Joy yelled said trying to calm herself and failing, Ameila took a deep breathâshe figured her lack of worry would be considered weird âSheâs right, now's not the time to argue it wonât change thingsâ
The trainer glared at Ameila before storming out leaving the pokemon center, soon more began to file out. Ameila waved goodbye to the nurse taking her leave as well..
Ameila looked at Emilio then to Cinder, a spark flashing in her eye. Slowly she stood up and dusted herself and her sweater top off, Emilio looked up at her, the starlight dancing on his freckle-kissed face. Ameila turned back to the now risen moon, the clouds parting ways away from it âItâs settled thenâŚâ Emilio shared a look with his Delphox then raised a brow in confusion âIâm going to fight god.â said Ameila
