What’s more motivating than money?

Yeah? Work going well for you, then?

Yeah, ok, that sounds nice.

[ Herman’s almost lost in a false sense of security, but  then he pauses. ]

I don’t have my wallet so you have to pay.

I don’t know! People change?

[ Yeah that’s why you’ve been doing the same thing over and over for the past too many decades despite multiple chances to better yourself. He sighs a very heavy sigh. ]

Yeah, we’re still friends, Fred. I wish I knew how to quit you.

Aw, Schultzie, don’t say that. 

[ He slings an arm around his shoulder and pulls him in close. ] 

Well –

[ He throws up his arms. It made sense. In con logic, at least. ]

I guess. No thanks to you, though. I could’ve died, man. And, y’know, it really hurt because I thought, I mean– Ok, the second time I kind of deserved it because I went a little nuts, but – I’ve always thought of myself as a reasonable dude. Someone you can talk problems out with. We could have hashed things out, y’know? Had a heart to heart. Grown closer as friends.

When I have I ever had a heart to heart with anyone? 

[ He’s not the type to. Unless it’s under certain circumstances. Most of the time Fred just Doesn’t. Things could change, though, who knows! ] 

[ The warmness of Fred’s hug makes Herman feel a little bit bad about what happens next (only a little, though). As soon as he’s set back down, Herman swings at Fred’s head. He really did miss the other man, but like hell he was just gonna hug and get over almost being killed twice. Herman had to at least get one hit in. ]

That’s for trying to kill me, asshole.

[ Okay, okay. He may have deserved that. He did, you know, try to kill him and has probably done a lot more than just that to Herman (his memory’s a little fuzzy). 

Herman lands a punch right against his jaw, probably leading to a nasty bruise later on to where Oona’s probably going to say: You deserved that. 

Fred cradles his cheek in one hand for a second, wincing as he brushes against the sensitive skin and touching his lip just to check to see if it’s busted. Once he pulls his hand away, and sees no blood, he breathes a sigh of relief. ] 

Ahh… Same old, Fred.

[ He opens his arms wide, and welcoming. ]

C’mere and give me a hug, ya big dummy.

Miss is a strong word.

Aw, hell. Who am I kiddin’, it’s good to see you’re still alive, Fred.

[ If you look really closely, I mean super close, you may see a tear coming out from under his cowl. He may have missed fucking with Shocker a little too much. ]
