The stupidest comparison Iāve heard of defending Planned Parenthoodās fungibility problem is comparing PP to a grocery store where someone at checkout uses SNAP foodstamps to purchase groceries while another person in line pays cash for wine. Ā They claim that means that SNAP did not technically fund the purchase of alcohol.
However, in reality the way Planned Parenthood operates, they coax SNAP shoppers (Medicaid/TitleX users) into their store and then at the end try to upsell alcohol (abortion) at the checkout. Ā The alcohol really is their bread and butter revenue source so they use SNAP reimbursements as not only an added revenue source but as a ploy for more customers to shop with them for their non-alcohol needs. Ā And technically speaking, SNAP works more like a voucher and not a reimbursement as which PP receives, but you get the point.Ā
Hereās how you can really easily see through this analogy - would you still shop at a grocery store where they aborted babies on demand while you were standing in checkout? Probably not. Ā Most people would find this abhorrent and never shop there and they would go out of business. Ā Well, while Planned Parenthood tries their best to normalize this barbaric practice, they also dress up as a healthcare provider for the rest of the public. Ā All that would happen if D.C. cut them off from Medicaid and Title X reimbursements would be that they would have to drop their āhealthcareā charade.
