THE LESSER KEY.

William Twining was a realist through and through, and what he could not reason with logic he completely denied. That is, he ended up going into a depressing, irritated denial about the foreign concept. Which is more or less, what he was experiencing now. While he adored science so much that his heart could burst, he did not in any sense of the concept, approve of this experiment. He was completely distraught that scientists could pull something like this! They were slandering the beauty of science by kidnapping and throwing all these people into this literal hive.

It reminded him somewhat of the experiments with mice. Mice being thrown into a maze and scientists would observe them, see which would be able to find their way out. That experiment and this "social" experiment felt too much alike.

But what could a simple human do about it? Well, despite William's big head about himself, his pride and arrogance, his self confidence -- despite all that, there was no way he could talk himself out of this situation or demand to be taken back. But then again, this was William after all, and as soon as he saw the chance, he would. His brilliant mind wouldn't go to waste and his awe inspiring talent for academics would not shrivel up here! Slowly did his vitality return to him, the blonde ready to shout to the Heavens (that he didn't even believe he existed) -- of his determination.

That is, he would have had not the sound of glass shattering and a following siren(?) cause William to cover his ears. Wincing, he began to run around rather aimlessly, trying to find the source of the noise. Off in the distance he swore he saw familiar silver hair -- though before he could get a good look a sudden breeze overhead caused the boy to turn green eyes skyward, only to find nothing. Was that a bird that had just flapped above him? Shaking his head, the boy hurried off in another direction, turning sharply and running right into someone else, ears still covered though a bewildered expression taking place.
