And the most infuriating part?

My mail client retries to reconnect obviously because the first login attempt was blocked because “suspicious”.

The second login attempt always succeeds.

no seriously the amount of ppl I see who are genuinely trying to do the right thing and who think global warming is their fault because they have a car or turn the fan on in the summer or eat a goddamn burger is astounding. people are truly brainwashed into thinking anything we do as citizens has an effect on the environment that’s somehow more important than the actions of corporations.

in 2020, when everyone was isolated at home, fossil co2 emissions in the US only dropped by 11%. think about how insane it is that when almost every person living in the second largest GEG emitter was at home for months, the effect they had was a reduction of barely 11%. and yet that fucking carbon footprint calculator is shoved down our throat all day long. a whole 4 years ago when that article came out saying only 100 companies are responsible for 71% of global emissions, everybody just blinked and went “no, thank you. now have you bought enough metal straws?”

and i’m not even addressing the blatant racism, ableism and classism that coats every single one of these “personal responsibility” arguments.

Btw this doesn't mean "do nothing" it means "advocate for effective policy and structural changes". Sometimes those policies might have an impact on your life, but you can't make the policies through your individual impact. And it's so much easier to make those individual changes if you have a structure working with you instead of against you.

I love that little mind-stall that happens when you overly friendly to people in these tiny day to day moments.

Oh this person hurried while crossing the street,to not let me wait to long in my car, better slam that gas to honour that extra time awarded to me.

Oh this person actually moved to the side, to let me, a bike-rider through, I just barely manage "Oh, Thank you".

Oh this person holds the door open when just I am slightly bit too far away, increase walking speed.

Just getting that little reaction of gratitude and thankfulness is just so precious.

something abt transwomen saying they had "internalized misogyny" before they transitioned is so telling. like they were sexist and abusive to the women in their lives but now we have to like, pat them on the back and say it was completely okay and that they were the victim all along, that they aren't responsible for any harm they did pre-transition. no, you didn't have internalized misognyny, you were just misogynistic. and you probably still are.

That doesn’t really check out. Assuming that people transition to be forgiven or to be/stay misogynistic, instead of the obvious, to transition to feel more comfortable in their bodies, is kinda presumptuous. Not to gloss over the obvious facts that trans people get shat on from both isles of the gender spectrum. As a position of perceived soft power, right now, trans doesn’t rank high.

No-one sensible is saying that absolves them of any wrong they have committed, but to come out the gate swinging that they all been pieces of shit to women is quite a stretch of mental gymnastics.

After some centuries in beta testing and latest incidents (noting the recent examples of fire-causing reveal parties) the council has decided to deprecate the concept of gender.

In short, gender has been cancelled.

For help in updating current systems please consult the nearest common sense consultant.

To note, this will have no effect on related systems such as genetics, bodily configurations or other outwards characteristics. Only the interaction with these will change.

In an recent investigation it was noted that since the original architects and/or maintainers are no longer around, why some downright strange design decisions were made and the coucil is worried keeping this status quo running as usual will cause more unnecessary harm and damage to all involved.

Still thinking about a conversation on Twitter. Some account was convinced that all men, by their very nature, are all, in their entire being, sex-driven and are always attracted to young girls (that may not even be adult yet) by the fact that Sigmund Freud and his writings exist.

They called it philosophically proven, does that concept even exist.

Aside from the obvious flaw that asexual men exist and that age as a atrraction characteristic is on a spectrum (if it is a factor for some individuals at all)

I just find really interesting if not downright hilarious that some might look at Sigmund Freud and all extrapolations one could pull from his creations and goes like "Yup, sounds about right".

Abolish the 40 hour week. It has been shown to make people miserable and to be less productive compared to less amounts of work-hours per week. Thus it is inefficient, harmful, wasteful and unnecessary. We should not waste any more health, happiness, time or money on upholding this archaic model of what is essentially wage-slavery.
