The thing is, simply by the fact we are so rare, unless a problem is within the trans community itself exclusively then trans people are never the problem. We represent somewhere around 0.5% of the population and have virtually no political or societal power. Even in queer spaces we still represent a small fraction of the group. We are the edge case of the edge case.

So if you ever find yourself mad at a subset of trans people and focusing on what you see as their part in an injustice, meaning you are focusing on a fraction of an edge case of an edge case, for any issue that isn't exclusively part of the trans community, then you need to figure out why you are being prejudice because I promise you the 0.2% of the population that are heavily marginalized are never the driving force of a large scale injustice.

Something I run into a LOT when talking to liberals and even some leftists here in Australia is that they'll hold up the "American cops," and sometimes if they're trying to sound especially cultured the NYPD and LAPD in particular, as Uniquely Bad Awful Cops.

This is a problem because if unchecked, they can ruse themselves into the belief that the Queensland or the Victorian or the New South Wales cops are actually fine and not just as violent, racist and evil.

No mate. Our cops also murder Aboriginal people for fun. A major ongoing scandal with the pigs up in Sydney involves them looking the other way while various homophobic gangs abducted gay men and transgender women from the club scene, drove them out to a particular set of cliffs and made 'em jump. Cops here routinely assault disabled people, particularly but by no means exclusively the homeless.

ACAB doesn't mean "American Cops Are Bastards" and there is nothing in the water that makes seps in particular violent monsters. Anybody willing to put on a badge and carry a loaded firearm around their community patrolling for "problem people" is wired such that they're liable to do some kind of evil, and it's likely going to be on the people they can hurt without much consequence. Talk to any homeless bloke or sex worker in Victoria about cops and you'll see the problem is here.

And the thing is this actually becomes a bit of a self-fulfilling prophesy because if you become the dude who is constantly refusing invitations and saying no to shit, people start to think you just don't want to be around them any more and stop inviting you. You kinda can't expect people to just be there for you after a year of dodging and avoiding them because that's a pretty one-sided friendship and not really how people work actually. Some people think they work like that, but tbh those friendships tend to be fairly shallow. Exceptions exist I guess but ehhh a lot of people who think they are the exception, that they "don't experience friendship decay," also tend not to know their friends' middle names, y'know?

So y'know yeah imo sometimes it is actually important to force yourself to do the thing even if it makes you feel exhausted and shitty because unfortunately socialising is a human need. So you gotta microdose it. Answer texts etc.
