normally, he’s CALM & COLLECTED—— holding emotions that made him WEAK, but now… he’s not. his eyes are wide almost SCARED as he looks over arthur, seeing the bruises ( bruises from SOMEONE else’s grasp ) and the blood. there’s SO MUCH of it, and damien isn’t sure if it belongs to arthur, or the MAN that now lays on the ground at damien’s feet. his own hands are covered, SLICK with red as he cups arthur’s face in his hands, searching the other’s gaze, but he only hears the other words ; telling him to CALM down, but how could he? HOW could he calm down when this man HURT, TOUCHED what belonged to HIM. arthur was HIS, and no one would LIVE after hurting him.
his hand TREMBLE as they trace over the MARKS upon his lover’s neck, trying NOT to have another outburst ( his first being when he BRUTALLY murdered the man that is remaining on the ground ), but he’s FURIOUS ; not at arthur—- never at arthur—- but at himself for being LATE to meet him at his apartment. because if he had BEEN ON TIME, this wouldn’t have happened. arthur wouldn’t have been HURT and damien wouldn’t have HAD to kill that man. but, he had LET his anger and POSSESSIVENESS control him ; and now he had to face what he’s done, and had to see the EXPRESSION his lover sent him.
arthur was SAFE now, and that should have calmed him down, but the man could still feel HIS HEART pounding against his ribs ; the FEAR of losing arthur still presenting itself as he TRACES the hand-shaped bruises around soft skin his THROAT, and the shaking hands, still covered in blood want to SCRATCH them away, but he knows that will only HURT more. with WIDE EYES, he looks up once more, meeting the gaze of the other, and his breath HITCHES. because he’s all to aware of how an ENEMY of his tried to kill arthur, and he should be making sure that his lover is alright, and not being worried that HE almost lost him ; he should be asking ARTHUR, should be worried about how he FEELS, but the words won’t form as he looks over the man’s face.
forehead is now PRESSED to arthur’s collarbone, hand against the man’s BEATING HEART, feeling him breath as he FINALLY calms himself down ; no longer letting the EMOTIONS & FEAR control his actions. he’s grateful he got there in time, though he should have gotten there SOONER. how could arthur ever FORGIVE him for this, for not being there to PREVENT this. he hates that he wasn’t there. and he feels something WET touches his cheeks, and he knows what it is, but REFUSES to say the words. and he doesn’t want arthur to see him like THIS, and so he doesn’t look up again, not even as he finally SPEAKS.
