I know that Richie's ending is tragic and sad, but if you don't even believe that as soon as he's back home he hits up a gay bar ("Aren't you that, uh, Richie Tozier guy?" - "Yep." - "Aren't you just another one of these straight comedians whose jokes all revolve around women?" - "Used to." - "So you're gay now?" - "Always have been, baby.") then I don't know what to tell you . . . he finally allows himself to look at men, to find them handsome, to find them beautiful, and he starts writing Relatable Gay Comedy Content and when the audience claps after his first new show he almost cries on stage, and perhaps he even finds love one day and gets to hold the hand of a man who loves him in return and gets to kiss him and he doesn't feel bad about any of his feelings anymore, and none of that would have been possible if he hadn't fallen for Eddie Kaspbrak all those years ago, and he smiles softly, to himself, that he no longer has to keep anything secret
