thats what i was thinking! himeno never actually managed to bed aki so i was like nonono what is this but then i thought this was probably showing an ideal fantasy, the beginning was too peaceful. at least i hope it was, aki never had feelings for himeno and was brainwashed by makima he wouldn't have been sleeping w her before events of canon. i rly don't want them to change that

YEAH im also rly ehhh;; about aki and himeno ever getting together (she was an adult when she met him as a young teen right? also she mentored him into adulthood...imo i felt it was odd for her to be pursuing him with that dynamic) so when i saw that i was like. 🤨 somethings off here.

besides my own feelings about them together, i think it’s clear aki cared for himeno deeply but not at all in a romantic/sexual way, esp since he had a “crush” on makima. i feel like the promo for csm is going to fuck with us till the 1st episodes drop date but i can’t see mappa completely altering fundamnetal character dynamics!

edit: ALSO when i rewatched i realized the two non-manga scenes had little bits of static over them, which doubly makes me think they’re supposed to be a false reality

besides the hayakawa family eating together we got kobeni+denji+power having fun at the beach and rly intimate shots of aki and himeno—both things that obvi weren't pulled from the manga. and then the immediate zoom out from the static tv screen into absolute chaos makes me think those were like...quiet little looks into some of the characters' ideal scenarios that we know can't come true because of the events of the manga (ex. what actually happens at the beach/aki and himeno's fates)
