Just A Girl & A Muddy Ball

I’m a professional athlete, my job doesn’t define me at all. My championships, my gold medals, that’s not who I am. That’s not who I want to leave behind. I want to leave behind a legacy of being a good person and loving because that’s what we do here. We love. My coach came up to me and goes “fake it till you make it.” I don’t want to fake it. I don’t want to fake my feelings, my emotions, I’m just like you, I struggle. I have demons. I have really hard days and I have really good days but don’t ever give someone the advice to fake it till you make it. Conversations are real, being honest is real, being sad is real, having pain is real, wanting to give up is real, but wanting to stand back up is even better. I’m here to say don’t fake it till you make it. Be proud of who you are. Be proud of what you want to be and give good advice. Don’t tell someone to fake it. Be loud about it. Because love is loud. Love is really loud. And that’s why we’re all here tonight because love is loud and we want to talk about it. I’m so happy to be here and be part of your story and you be part of mine.
