Replenishment of timber has exceeded production since the 40′s. Evidently timber companies realized it’s more efficient to plant the trees you cut down, since you can plant uniformly, don’t have to haul them as far, and can control (roughly) when you harvest.

I mean, bourgeois mentality of killing lumberjacks/jills aside, it’s not good for the trees.

So, at least in the USA, don’t drive spikes into trees.

The Hurrian Hymn to Nikkal is the oldest surviving song in the world. It dates back to 1400 BC and was found in the Syrian city of Ugarit. The beautiful composition was a hymn dedicated to Nikkal, the Phoenician goddess of orchards whose name means “Great Lady and Fruitful.”
