I contemplate the happy faces of people around me here in Ireland and reminisce about the happy normal life my family and I had before the war. A life that turned into a distant memory for us and was replaced by an unending series of horrible nightmares.
Unlike my family in Gaza, people here have access to drinking water, all types of food, electricity, and a roof over their heads. Above all, they are safe, and I cannot help but wonder if they genuinely do appreciate these blessings in their lives enough.
People seem relaxed and laughing wholeheartedly around me in Ireland. I wish I could laugh too, but I am crushed way beyond recovery on the inside. I was evacuated by my Irish college after five months of living the horrors of war in Gaza. I hope you will never know what it feels like to live in constant fear and worry and be horrified by the most sickening and scary nightmares every single night while you are far away from your family in such circumstances.
When did my people in Gaza cease to be human beings worthy and deserving of a normal life? Has it become normal now for my family in Gaza to be starved and killed while the whole world is watching the genocide? If that is the case, then you will have to excuse me if I seek every avenue to bring them to Ireland and start a new normal life like all people here around me.
I was assured by the Irish Reugee Council (IRC) and lawyers in Ireland that there is hope I can reunite with my family in Ireland. In difficult times, it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. For me and my family, you are literally our light and hope for a better life.

I paused for a few seconds, then asked her, "How?" She said, "He went out this morning looking for something to feed his little granddaughter. He found nothing but some flour scattered on the sand. He sat down to pick up the flour from the ground. After he finished and walked only fifty steps to the beginning of the street, he fell to his feet, without complaining or speaking. He suddenly fell." My friend said, "When people approached to see what had happened to this man, they noticed him muttering a few words, saying, 'She's been fasting for three days. Don't let her die of hunger like me.' Then he died." At the end of the message, she wrote, "Can you write about him?" Because he didn't die alone. In Gaza, people are killed as if they were nobody. Tell the world that this man was one of many and tell them that I have started collapsing in the street for no reason like this old man even though I am in my twenties and that I need donations to help my young children because these days we have never seen anything like this before. Anas (@dr-anas96) is severely suicidal and is dying on the inside in every sense of the word. Mentally he feels his life is over, and physically he's barely moving anymore, only occasionally coming to consciousness and vomiting blood.
I'm begging you from the bottom of my heart not to let my friend die. This entire time, during this genocide he's living through, he's been:
Supporting his elderly parents find shelter through the collapse of their tent.
Supporting the children of Gaza by cheering them up through drawing and acting and other activities, as well as teaching them survival skills.
Corresponding and reinforcing solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community, and the Black community.
Being an invaluable friend to many, including me.
Now, with some reprieve for Gazans seemingly so close, he is dying. I don't use this word lightly because I don't want to believe my dear friend is dying. I am only saying it because I have no escape from believing it
But I still have hope that we can carry him through this so he can see the end of this difficult road. I am not giving up on him and I'm begging, begging, begging, begging you all not to give up either. We're so close.

i know this is like. an extremely obvious thing. but my god taking time to really be creative or have hobbies is great. i'm actually doing things that make me happy. seeing how i improve at the things that interest me feels so good. yes this may sound incredibly basic but i genuinely did not realize how depressed i was before this. i actively did not participate in my life most of the time. this feels great. i still struggle of course, but i'm feeling so much better. lol.

To give you an idea, Mahmoud has to risk a difficult journey due to thieving gangs hired by the occupation to steal aid, and then pay 1300 shekel for a single sack of flour.
That's about $350 USD for flour that lasts less than a week to feed a family of around 20 people.

Anas is seriously ill. He is vomiting blog and unable to walk.
Despite Anas being vetted here by gaza-evacuation-funds and constantly documenting his struggle in Gaza through photographs and videos in multiple languages, including his interview with AJ+, he has messaged me telling me that tumblr has restricted activity on his previous blog @anas-kamal and he has been forced to create a new one at @dr-anas96.
This is already heinous under any circumstance but especially now with his condition. His campaign is severely stagnating and he is depending on it now more than ever.
Anas has been a ray of light for the children of Gaza, coming up with games and activities for them, but now he is unable to move around due to his illness. The doctors are trying to figure out why he is vomiting blood but as you well know, resources are very limited.
This is a video of Anas's parents baking bread with the scarce amount of flour they are able to obtain.
Anas is unable to focus on sharing his campaign as his internet connection is fleeting and he doesn't currently have the energy. I'm begging you to join me in spreading his campaign on his behalf.
