kiri laughed as she moved the ears some more, bouncing in her spot for a moment. “it’s kind of fun.” she admitted, finally taking it off. “did your parents ever tell you about anything weird?” 

“doesn’t this look silly?” kiri laughed as she put the hat on her head and held the strings attached to it. “mum said these were so popular back when she was younger. i don’t get it, though. it looks stupid... look!” kiki pressed on the strings and the ears of the animal on the hat flew up, making her laugh.

“yes, actually. last time i learned a dance in the kitchen, i almost knocked a pot of boiling pasta down.” she admitted with a defeated sigh. she wasn’t even fazed by the way youjin talked around her. she’s been over the age rules for years now, and loved to bicker with her younger friends. “rosie made me swear not to dance in kitchens anymore. so here i am, doing... whatever the hell this is.” 

irene was about to try again when she heard spencer’s voice coming from the door. “god, i can’t even practice to beat you. you’re so mean.” she sighed, putting the cup down on the counter. “i give up! my cheeks hurt.”

irene jumped a little, not expecting someone to be watching her, and started laughing. “i don’t know either, i’m just waiting for my cookies to finish baking.”

“wow, look at me. i can come up with date ideas too.” she joked along, smiling widely. “we can go in a bit, i just need to change.” she continued. “i know that, cutie. you always remind me.” 

irene laughed at the way he said that. “hey, you suggested this fi- actually, no. i do have an idea.” she spoke but immediately cut herself off, her eyes lighting up when she got a sudden idea. “it’s not fancy but let’s go to soho, try burgers from different restaurants and pretend we’re food critics by deciding which one’s the best... i honestly just want a burger.” she laughed. “wow, thank you. i’ll keep that in mind when i’m all sick and snotty.” 

“oh, where?” she asked, head tilted only a little bit as she swung their hands back and forth. “you may look handsome, but i look like shit at the moment.” she chuckled. 

irene thought she was alone in the room when she sucked the air out of a cup to stick to her mouth and started to spin around. except it fell to the floor after two spins, and she stared at it with defeat. “ugh, i can’t do it.”
