some things i see people say they dont like about spike are him being lazy, getting in the way, being a kiss-ass, and generally being annoyed by him.

i gotta say, he just wants to help and he is a child. he is genuinely helpful when it comes to smaller tasks that he’s used too. He isn’t always great at helping so thats why he gets in the way. Its not very fun when he just makes things worse but the reason i like him is because he’s trying to help.

and about him being annoying

HE’S A CHILD. HE’S GONNA BE ANNOYING. i know he doesn’t super get treated like he is a child in the show but he still has a lot more to learn about being a person than other characters. (its like with charmy bee when people call him annoying like yes hes gonna be annoying hes a child)

in owls well that ends well(or whatever the episode is called) he thought he was actually gonna be replaced cause he wasnt helpful as owlicious. guys. how can you hate him the poor dragon.(yes im aware of the bias here but whatever)

and discord. ok i understand much more people not liking him. he does several time after he’s supposed to be reformed do things to make others feel bad. liking making twilight feel excluded after spending the weekend organizing her books or reading or whatever it was. im not as upset as people not liking him as with spike.

but he does change. i know that people dont like that he brought back tirek, chrysalis, and cozy glow. but he was genuinely trying to help twilight. he fully believed the mane six could handle them and he did that to help twilight see that she could handle being ruling equestria. which he also had full confidence she could do.

with the first time tirek shows up, yes he does go evil, but before that he had bookmarked those entries that they needed to open the chest.

used lasso fill for drawing because its not that hard to use and makes it easier for me not to be to strict or focused on details

and with my usual thick lines its hard to draw something with so many ridges and shapes

and im not used to plain thin lines and they always look weird when i try to use thin

prolly because none of my devices are pressure sensitive so lasso fill is also the only way i can get varied line weights

i did use thick lines for the general sketch so i wasnt just drawing stuff from the middle of nowhere

but then my attempts using that sketch went weird so i just did a silhouette to really focus on the general shapes and not details and then i put both of them at low opacity and ended up vaguely using them to guide me
