Like if everyone stopped talking positively about harry potty altogether & only mentioned it to talk about how supremely shitty it was, & nobody or very very few people participated in any fan content whatsoever (no fan fic, no fan art, no fan films, no fan discussions, no forum posts or blog posts, no HP "inspired" stuff, no photosets or edits, no pinterest boards or crossover fandom AU's, no tiktok skits, no film OST covers, no merch, and no, not even "fix it" rewrites of her work), & those that DID like it or participate in its fandom were openly ridiculed, & especially, if everyone shunned Rowling for the worthless scum she is, then she literally would not have the relevancy she has now. It would fall into obscurity, & so would Rowling's influence and relevancy in the real world (especially politics or spreading hate online). You literally cannot just participate in a fandom, even if you never interact with official releases of things, & think that its not still supporting its original form.
Its the same reason why there was a "twilight renaissance" & it was brought back from obscurity, & why there's now talk of more twilight shit coming out AGAIN because (a lot & arguably mostly white tbh) fans decided they could stomach all the racism, abuse, pedophilia, and misogyny again. Because of fandom online.
