as per the base game, it freezes the spider kids

unavoidable within the dlc, it causes the mannequins to move and makes the boomers' stomachs open up to be used for movement

i'm figuring that these will be for achievements or maybe an ending, but it can illuminate white static figures the size of children across the map, as well as drawings of rings of rats

at one point it illuminates a hidden path on the ground, which leads to a secret room

the fruit rotting thing with the apples. this is what i'm really curious about. why can it do that

and this one i am also Extremely curious about. there's a corner of the mall where there's a sign and a chair. the sign is very dishevelled and hard to make out at least on my monitor, but when you take a photo of it, it is very clearly a shining apple. that entire corner of the room stays lit and appears golden compared to the rest of the mall, and takes about 9 seconds to fade back to normal. (normal length of illumination seems to be about a second long.)
