naddpod parties to me are like band of boobs are well known world famous heroes who are still down to earth, third mates are my weird friends I play board games with on Thursday nights, hexbloods are the old people you see at the gym really early in the morning, endoterra pcs are your neighbors in a polycule, the triplets are the most insufferable group of influencers that have all been cancelled numerous times, duck team are three little mice that live in my pocket, bon freres are the guys at your school you hope and pray you don’t see every day, the Vantasmos are at my New Jersey Italian family gatherings, and the skaldova characters are my tumblr mutuals

one of the things i really love about naddpod is murph's storytelling. bahumia in particular, but he really is just saying the same thing over and over again: the world always needs saving. that's the whole conceit right from episode zero, and it's continued all this way. the world always needs saving, and so, someone is always saving the world. yes, the main characters are, and they're being flashy and obvious, but they're not the only ones. the world is being saved daily, by people who don't even know it, by people who think it's no big deal, by people who won't get the recognition for it. there's no single adventuring party that can just save the world and be done with it, there's a collective effort of people who care, and there's a lot of people who care.

finishing naddpod c1 and going through the mini campaigns is like wow i really do miss my friends hardwon and moonshine and beverly. and i can only ever see them again at goddamn kongo bongo island

absolutely obsessed with margaret encino as a character build. 0 fighting abilities but THE mvp of the party. she tries to shoot someone once and gets a nat one. she gets hit for 4 points of damage once and wails in pain for the whole rest of the fight. 19 hp but she can do things with her cell phone i couldn't pull off with a nuke. maybe your minmaxed oathbreaker paladin can deal 60 damage per turn, but can they secure healthcare for their whole party? can they offer a $2,000 signing bonus? can they stop a fight with a single click of a button? didn't fucking think so.

simply no one understands eldermourne the way I do. It’s about gothic horror, it’s about book pizza in a train car, it’s about hot plates and shrimp scampi, it’s about blades and smiths, it’s about family, it’s about friendship, it’s about the company of dusty old books or weird glowing beakers, it’s about zombie girlfriends, it’s about lesbians, it’s about 69 lives, its about getting it right this time, it’s about killing your mom, it’s about “shout out to the two crew”, and it’s about “I’m sorry I didn’t make it to the ocean”

Considering doing a Souls-like inspired campaign. Really grindy and combat focused, but deaths aren’t permanent, you go back to checkpoints, except for fights against certain enemies with weapons that permanently destroy or capture your soul. So it’s really stupid and players find themselves dying for stupid reason, failing perception checks, but they just Wake Up at the campfire or whatever, and it’s not All Bad, cuz when they reach a checkpoint or kill a boss, they like. Get 3 full level ups, or like a cool magic item or ability. Maybe some temporary magic items, that are still good. Or like a Story Beat where the grind kinda slows down for a second if they want. Idk, i think it could be fun if we communicate and commit and stuff. And if we had minis too, it could be kinda hype. I really like the idea of a ttrpg campaign taking a souls approach to death and failure. What do you think?

I remember reading such a good heartfelt and intellectual essay about how Frodo Baggins is basically a perfect protagonist and it was absolutely correct but the one part I vividly remember is that there was a section about how he was put down a lot when the movies came out because he showed weakness and by 2001 toxic masculinity terms that’s inherently homosexual and the essay went on to be like “if going forward despite your pain and struggle because you’re kind at heart is gay, gay people should be proud to have him” and like I know what the real point here was but when I read that I was like cheers I’ll drink to that bro we gay people ARE proud to have Frodo Baggins
