How the fuck do I get better
For Beginners
You are not your feelings. Feelings are something you have, and something you can learn to cope with. Here are some tips how you can reduce negative, annoying or persistent feelings in your life, and how you can cope with them when they occur.
Making positive experiences
Do something enjoyable that’s possible every day (ex. read a few pages, doodle something, listen to your favorite song, sing in the shower…)
Change your life up a bit in a way that will help you experience positive feelings more often (ex. say hi to an old friend, join a club, try a new hobby, discover a new artist…)
Allow yourself to feel the positive things (ex. reminisce about the nice experiences you had before bed, focus on how good you feel in the moment, ask yourself how you’d name this positive feeling, what caused it…)
Reducing emotional and physical vulnerability
A house can’t stand without the base - Work on getting enough water, food, sleep, exercise and self care. Baby steps are completely fine. 5 hours of sleep are better than 4, two meals are better than one, etc.
Watch your health and take your medication
Avoid mood changing substances (drugs, alcohol…)
Take responsibility (ex. make small plans that you can and will do every day -> gives you a sense of control over your life and helps you believe in your own abilities)
Letting go of emotional baggage
Accept your feelings as a part of yourself as a person. We all have them!
Acknowledge that your feelings (all of them!) are allowed to be here, because they all have a job to fulfill!
Try not to judge your feelings, even if it’s hard! There’s a reason why they’re here.
Be open for your feelings. Embrace them. They will come anyway.
I have a feeling I don’t want - what now?
What am I feeling? (ex. angry, sad, guilty…)
What impulse does this feeling give me, what do I want to do? (ex. lash out, isolate myself, self harm…)
What made me feel this way? (ex. a fight, a bad grade, a mistake…)
What would be pros and cons of acting on my impulse? (ex. pro - lashing out would give me relief, con - it would have consequences…)
What decision do I make?
What skills or coping mechanisms do I need, if I need them?
Long covid recovery
Just starting my long covid recovery, official diagnoses just last week
Two inhalers ,new meds to deal with nerve pain and brain fog , and a whole host of scary yet sensible advice
As someone with chronic fatigue the crippling tiredness has been the biggest shocker for me worse than any flare I’ve ever experienced and constant. I have days when walking seems an impossible task ,
The constant feeling of exhaustion legs jellied heart pounding head fogged breathlessness, it’s terrifying.other than my cf I was in relatively good shape and could still work but this long covid has changed everything
My doctor has explained that there is massive evidence that covid may effect the bloods clotting function so I have to be wary of certain things and follow advice as best I can
Stay active (difficult when feeling so weak and fatigued) walk as often and stay mobile look out for pain in my calf muscles pains in my chest and arms (I’ve already been to A@E once with chest pains and breathlessness)
Be mindful of breathing massive part of recovery as it’s easy to get into a bad habit of shallow breathing , I’m new to the inhaler thing but they do make a difference
Be kind to yourself is possibly the best advice I can give, mentally recovery from any illness can be exhausting and frustrating
Don’t let your recovery make you feel worthless you are not your health, you are not just a cough or a headache, you are not breathlessness and fatigue. You are still the wonderful amazing person you have always been, recovery will happen slow down, be patient notice the light in life ,the rainbows in the rain, the crackle of leaves on the ground, the wag of dogs tail, the smile from a stranger, the colour of the sky, the wind in your hair .
Take time to do things you enjoy and make yourself comfortable it’s a long road
Drink plenty water eat foods you enjoy accept that covid has messed up your sense of taste/smell but it will return
Fingers crossed normality will return or what ever passes as normality these days
Love and light to all

Big sky’s and full tides
Good times to walk away the blues
First time flying was a horrific experience but such a beautiful sight to behold
A stunningly frosty start to the day Had a great start to the day defrosted the car and went for an amazing walk with my granddaughter and grandson we all had snotty noses and Rosie cheeks loved every minute of it Heres to more time with mooster and Levi
Found this picture from a while back Took me a while but I remember how peaceful and quiet it was and how blessed I felt at being able to be part of this
Life and it's kicks
I have discovered ,with many thanks to the specialist at the hospital that in fact hard work does not pay off ! I have been grafting working hard all my life from an early age turning muck muscle and and a good work ethic into hard cash
But it seems that doing this has caused unrepairable damage to my spine and bones I’m a big guy always have been and all the extra wear and tear has left me with a bleak outlook I lose weight and muscle mass now or I end up in a wheel chair within two years
The pressure on my spine and neck in conjunction with the high amount of wear and tear has caused bony growths and arthritis nodules to grow on the inside of my neck and spinal column, the pressure these nodules cause if I look up or over my shoulder I get horrendous bouts of dizziness and loss of balance other than that severe sciatic pain and crippling agonising lower back spasms just where my discs are fused together and worn out I’m ok I think I’m in good enough shape I can still graft put in a full day on the shovel or splitting logs or dragging trees off a mountain I walk and cycle and try to make sure that even though I’m big/fat I’m still fit
I guess writing this to prove to myself that change is needed, that change isn’t something to fear that the only thing I have to fear is not being able to walk …….
