I do ship them but their relationship in my AU is purely Platonic. But I will make some art of the Ship if I can. The beach day story is just right below if any of y'all are interested to read. ^^ (I might start a Wattpad, idk)
Timeline : Before "The Mirroring". It'd be around season 5
"Buttercup and Cowslips" :
Finn and Jake have settled nicely into Fionna's world after "The Tear". The others finally believed their identity as Fionna and Cakes male opposites.
Finn and Jake have been searching for the Lich after "The Tear" but found no signs of him. They decide to lean back and enjoy their time here while it lasts. But it was getting boring for Jake.
While Fionna and Cake were redecorating the Hot Spot Jake found a letter that was for F&C. He read through it and found out about a beach party that was set up by Ellis P.
Finn was pretty relaxed on a hammock, feeling the wind and all and the next thing he knew his feet were on the sand as he was standing in front of the waves.
Jake tells him he'll be fine. But then he adds that Finn can go play with the kids since he isn't that tough, teasing Finn to toughen him up. Finn takes the challenge and tries to approach the water but immediately freezes.
He then spots Fionna who was talking with Gumball.
Fionna suddenly felt a weight on her waist, she expected an octopus but she instead sees Finn clutching onto her like a lifeline. She remembered his fear of the water in their talk days ago.
She didn't think it was that bad since the water was just waist deep. But now she sees it. The whole day was spent with her trying to help Finn with his fear but as Jake stated, no avail. In the end Finn finds himself sulking in a cove.
Fionna approaches, sitting down beside him. He says that he feels bad for being a deadweight. She could've spent her day playing volleyball with the others and see the coral reefs when they invited her.
But instead, she spent her time trying to help him and she couldn't have fun because of that. There was silence for a moment, with her gathering her words. She then says that she doesn't care. She'd rather spend her time helping someone than having fun because her way of fun is when everyone is involved and happy.
She then says that it's alright if he's scared because everyone is also scared. She also says not to think too low of himself because he's always been brave. Why? Because he helps others fight their fear, giving them support.
And he was brave at the start! Finn is confused and asks her what she meant by that. She says that he could've stayed behind in the Hot Spot, but hey! He was there! He argues that it was because of Jake he was there. He wasn't brave. He just got peer pressured. That's all...
Fionna then tells him he still stepped into the water. He did it by himself just to reach her. She explained that it may seem simple but in truth, it means that in his time of fear, where he feels the pressure of waves hitting him, there's always someone he can swim to, and that's what matters in the moment, so he shouldn't be so hard on himself.
Back in the Hot Spot that night, while Finn sleeps in the Hammock, he thinks about the day and he smiles. Seems like someone actually understands him after all.
