Raising Twins

Today's Topic: Silva Family Tradition💕 There is one thing I always looked forward to growing up.. The Silva Family Mother's Day Tea! This is always hosted the day before Mother's Day, and the host is always someone else in the family. This year will be at a beautiful location in Big Bear. There's tons of food brought by everyone because it is a potluck. Tons of Wine, and we play the White Elephant game. The best part of this experience is it's a husband free, kids free zone. It's the best time to unwind and relax with the ladies you love. This exclusive tradition isn't just to the mother's in our family, but it is open to in-laws and friends. But keep in mind they MUST be mothers!!

We survived our first Disney Trip!

We've all heard it when we were pregnant right? Whether it was from family, friends, or even complete strangers. And lets face it, we will NEVER take that advice and use it. We spend those very small moments of each baby napping to do what people without kids take advantage of. Normal human behavior that is now a complete luxury for us. Still not sure what I mean? Take a look below & feel free to nod your head if you do agree. · Bathroom breaks Yes bathroom breaks. I enjoy my free moments of being able to sit on the toilet and take my time, and I'm not ashamed of it. ·Cleaning If one of your twins is like mine, you can't be out of their sight. She hates when I'm not visible, I can't throw out diapers in the bathroom( which is right across from our room ) without a small cry for me to come back. So I use whatever nap time to get that done on cleaning day. ·Eat You think that if I can't pee, that I can sit down and enjoy a meal? Wrong! There would be days when they were a few months old that I only ate breakfast because their dad was at school & work, so I had no one around to help so I could eat. ·Netflix Binge I'll admit that as a Stay At Home Mom (will now refer to as SAHM) there are dozens of things I binge watch on Netflix and cable. I even watch when they're awake, Akela's favorite is FRIENDS. But it is extremely hard to watch and play at the same time, so I also use this time to watch as much as I can in peace. And last but not least... ·SHOWER Yup, I said it. SHOWER. There are days I don't even get to take one because I'm so tired. But the days I do, I use bedtime to shower. That's the only time I know for sure that I can take my time to relax and unwind right before my nightly TV shows. Think I missed any? Let me know!

My Boyfriend and I are young parents. So when we found out I was pregnant it was obvious that we'd live together, he was constantly looking for apartments, and then we found out I was pregnant with twins. So living on our own was out of the question, and it was decided that I'd move in with him & his family. I knew what I was getting myself into because he always complained about how annoyed he would get with his parents, but I NEVER thought it was as bad as it can be. His step-mom constantly hovers. She has these babies spoiled rotten at the age of 6, almost 7 months. Whenever she hears them cry she walks into their room and grabs them without consulting us, their parents. It's so bad now that they no longer put themselves to sleep at night like they used to. I've made 7-8 pm their bedtime since they were a month old, and they could just calmly lay there til they fell asleep. And now they can't lay there anymore. So now that she is away in Mexico for a few weeks I am trying to get them back on track. Which means breaking all of our hearts, and letting them cry it out. Wish us luck.

Akela & Ricky are just 9 days away from being 7 Months old. That means I'm going on 7 months of being a SAHM. The hardest part about this job is that Akela now cries whenever I'm out of sight. I could just be looking under the bed for something, and if she notices, she flips. I now wait until they take naps, or sit with their grandma to squeeze in bathroom & eating breaks. And on cleaning days I get as much done in between naps as possible. I feel very fortunate that Ricky can crawl around and entertain himself. If you have any advice on this let me know:)

6 Month Photoshoot

This months month-to-month photo prop of the twins. This is hand-drawn by me. Lets just say I'm excited, but very sad about our twins turning 6 months. Ricky Jr. is beginning to crawl by doing the infamous "army" crawl, and Akela is sitting up on her own. I've REALLY enjoyed watching them grow up right in front of my eyes these past 6 months. And very little I can start planning their 1st birthday party. I'm so excited! Wanna guess the theme? Of course it is disney related! My baby shower was Mickey & Minnie themed, their room is Mickey & Minnie themed, and now their 1st birthday will be Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed!💞

A year ago today I was so sick from Hyperemisis due to my pregnancy that it really came down to my life or my kids. I prayed to God that He would help me through this difficult time, and make it possible to have my babies. I was good enough to go home from the hospital, but the second I got there I started getting sick again. I spent so much time in ERs & being hospitalized for several days at a time that I started having anxiety attacks. I hated being left alone there with no family that I wouldn't sleep. I still suffer from this today, & I now HATE to be left alone. But aside from my own struggles, I thank God that I am here healthy, and that my babies are here healthy and happy. God does exist, and he does make miracles happen. He has a plan for my family & I, and I am ready to take on the good and the bad.

I had my twins at the age of 18 and I'm now 19. I never went to college after graduation, & I still don't have a license or a job. Now that I have these kids, and had a small breakdown I now have my plan. First on my list a license. Mainly cause you can't go to work or school without a car. And I have a fear of the amount of germs that could possibly be on public transportation. Second may be job or school. These two will be after the twins are 1, and communicate better as to what they need. I've seen way too many nanny cam videos of them hurting babies out of frustration, so that's that reason. All of this will be attempted while getting my pre-pregnancy body back, and raising my two munchkins.

This date will not only mark the day my husband turned 19, but as the day we found out we were expecting twins. We were in the ER due to my hyperemesis, and when the dr took an ultrasound to check the "baby's" heart beat, he ended up finding 2. We were NOT expecting that at all. Once the idea of having to raise 2 newborns at the exact same time sunk in, I was really freaking out. I had no idea how I would care for both babies, and make them both feel the same amount of love. Well 1 year & 2 days later I'm happy to announce that I have not only surprised myself, but everyone around me. I have mastered the art of multi-tasking & still getting enough sleep. Though I don't always do it by myself, I'm lucky to have such an amazing husband who is a GREAT father, & mother-in-law to help me along the way. The one thing I have to say to all moms expecting any form of multiples is: 1. ALWAYS take advantage of help when it's offered. 2. If someone wants to watch your babies just so you can get some sleep, accept the help. 3. Don't beat yourself up if you feel like a bad mom. You're not perfect, and never will be. 4. The days where you can't get your babies to stop crying, even though you've fed and changed their diapers, its ok to let them cry for a few minutes. And if you're really overwhelmed, cry with them. Once you've calmed yourself down, jump back in it. 5. Remember that they will ALWAYS love you, & think you're Super Mom.

Teething. Every twin parents' nightmare. It's hard watching your babies grow up. You love and cherish each and every moment you spend with them. But the moment they start teething life becomes harder than before. Some days they're both good, some days one is worse than the other, and than there's the days where BOTH are just awful. You feel like the days of them teething may never end, and as much as you try to help them with teething tablets & Tylenol NOTHING works. And as you're on the verge of your own meltdown, the crying ends, and they're finally asleep.
