Meet Mobile

     As he stepped away from the door, the white space turned gray and the floor crackled a bit. Mobile gulped and took a deep breath. As he told himself to calm down, he held onto his chest. This ethereal place felt too real for him. He felt as if he ignored Scott's text, this all would've never happened. He wouldn't have gotten lost in Hong Kong and would have to sneak on a plane. He wouldn't be stuck in Subspace in front of the door to his mind, knowing he could face his inner demons, but trying to ignore it. He tried to ignore it due to the fact that Scott was his first priority now.

He couldn't give in again.

    As he turned away from the door, he heard familiar voices. Voices from the search party. Mobile's face lit up and he smiled with glee. He shouted out towards them:

     As he sauntered in, Subspace felt damp and hot. All he could hear was angered screeching which drove him crazy. Frightened of what he would see, he slowly opened his eyes. The walls flickered black and white. The tiny cracks in the floor became colossal. He felt as if the world was slightly off balance. As he tried to walked forward, it felt as if the floor was starting to crumble. This horrified him to the point of hyperventilating. He clutched onto his chest and took a huge breath. "Don't let this take you over." he whispered to himself. He swallowed a small gulp and closed his eyes.

"Don't look down Mobile. Don't look down."

He opened his eyes and took a few steps forward. More doors appeared around him than earlier. A part of him sparkled inside and he smirked. "Let's try to NOT mess up." Mobile exclaimed. The floor crackled more as he walked around a bit but less and less as he progressed. His confident air was coming back slowly and he started to feel like himself again. But at this point he was stuck. He didn't know what to do next. What door should he go in?

"Where would Scott hide?" he asked himself. "Where's the one place in subspace where he wouldn't think anyone would find him?" His mind couldn't wrap around this thought. He couldn't think of a reason of why Scott would hide. Then he remembers earlier: the tension from the search party and Ramona's tears from earlier.

A few doors appeared before him. He looked around to see what would be the most logical choice. What appeared before him made him freeze in disbelief.

"America?" Bao asked. He was a bit confused by the question at first but then he realized she's asking where he's from. "Oh, no. Canada." he replied. She groaned to herself a bit and pouted. To Mobile, this seems as if she was disappointed. Why would she be disappointed? "I'm looking for a friend." he added. "But I think I went the wrong way."

"I could get you home." she mumbled. "But it's a lot of work. I'd have to explain to job that you are special case." Mobile gave a huge relieved sigh and smiled. "Well, that's great." "Why don't you text your friends?" she asked. He sighed again and realized that even if he did that, it wouldn't work. Everyone's busy looking for Scott, including you. You sent him a mental message, hoping he would realize that others are looking for him. You just ended up becoming lost yourself sadly. And you do not know how you'll get out of this predicament.

A few meters away, there's a slight glow in the abyss. "There it is!!!" Bao screamed excitedly. She pointed towards the glowing exit. As they get closer the glowing exit becomes a glowing white door. "Inside this door is where I work. We help others sneak onto planes to get home." As they got closer, they heard something that was reminiscent of a tavern. Mobile heard the joyous laughing and cheering and the clinking of the mugs as they hit the wooden bar. Bao slowly opened the door and smiled with glee as she was revered with a loud "BAO BAO!"

Mobile and Bao walked in and suddenly felt enlightened. The golden light of the crowed room gave a happy aura as everyone smiled. Mobile cringed and winced as he tried to move through the crowd. While moving, Bao seemed to run towards a rotund and joyous man. He filled the room with the boom his laughter and the height of his spirits.

Bao began to whisper in the rotund man's ear and pointed towards Mobile. This made him feel slightly uneasy as the rotund man whipped his arm around Mobile and dragged him closer. The heavy smell of beer and cigars almost made Mobile pass out as the rotund man shouted towards the crowd: "TONIGHT, THIS MAN WILL GO BACK TO CANADA!"

He began pacing back and forth in front of the girl. Mobile couldn't find it in himself to stay still. He kept repeating to himself, "You got this. You got this. You'll think of a plan." He felt as if he was finally breaking down and ready to crack. "You got this. You got this." He could barely catch his breath and felt as if a heart attack was ready to arrive. "If you won't save Scott, the other guys could. I know no one will come back for me. But still, I am not the number one priority."

The young woman shook in fear. She didn't know what he could do next. All she wanted to do was help. When she saw him, she felt as if he was lost. All she wanted to do was help. "S-s-sorry." she stumbled out. She took a few slow steps back and covered her mouth. "I w-w-want to h-help." she mumbled under her breath. "Mr. Mobile, I want to help."

He stopped in his tracks and turned towards the girl slowly. "Bao," he says in a hushed tone. "I'm sorry you had to see this. I let my emotions get the best of me." He swiftly wiped his tears and smiled at Bao. "I can't allow it to do that. Dangerous things could happen. I could lose control of myself. Also, it's unprofessional in my line of work." Bao feigned a smile to cover her fear and nodded repetitively and quickly. "I can help, Mr. Mobile." she said. "I can help you. I know place."

A twinkle enlightened his eyes. "How can you help?" he frantically asked her.

"I can get you home!" she shouted with fake glee. She frantically pointed towards the abyss of the alleyway and made her smile go wider. Mobile curtsied towards her and began walking towards it. "We shouldn't be wasting time then." he said. "I have to help someone that means dearly to someone that means dearly to me." Bao shook her head from confusion. She didn't understand a think Mobile just said. But she realized by now, he'll most likely listen to her and she'll try to be a bit easier on him.

Yet the angry voices. They still persist in Mobile's head and have become louder than ever. He also hears tiny cracks as if something is breaking. His breathing deepens as he struggles to regain and keep his composure. He worries what'll happen if he can't stay this way. Will his powers go out of control? How can he get rid of the voices? Why are his emotions harder to control than usual?

The girl he decided to follow had an unfamiliar aura about her. She was around 5 feet tall, a little chubby, and had a confident stride in her walk. "W-where are you taking me?" he nervously asked the girl. "Bao." she replied. "What is this Bao you speak of?" he asks her. She immediately stops in her tracks and turns to look at him. She had a bit of a furious look in her eyes and gritted her teeth. She put her hand on her chest and shouted, "No! Bao!!" As he realized that she was telling him her name, he looked down and apologized profusely. "Oh! I'm sorry!!" Mobile slowly stepped back and gulped. He's completely worried about his well being now. And possibly where this girl will take him. "Since you've given me your name, I'll give you mine. I am Mobile." He politely bowed in front of the girl and gave her a hint of a smile. "Maybe she won't kill me now." he whispered to himself.

She looked at him with disgust and sucked in her teeth. She looked ahead and pointed forwards. "There." she said to him in a stern tone. He looked towards the direction and saw nothing but darkness. "A-a-are you sure we should be going that way?" he nervously asked. She only sucked her teeth in again and walked forwards. "Stupid." she muttered angrily. He steps back, a tiny bit pissed from her comment. But, he presses on knowing that he has no where else to go.

Mobile then starts to feel a slight pain in the temples in his forehead. Feelings began to erupt inside him again. Worry. Anger. Pain. Guilt. He can hear everyone's voice in his head shouting at him. He felt as if his body was crumbling and breaking down. He really wanted to say something about this but who would he tell? The girl he's following blindly that could possibly try to steal his kidneys? And if he did tell her about it, what could she do? More so, what WOULD she do? He begins to panic but forces himself to keep all his feelings in. "Be cool Mobile." he says to himself. "You got this."

The pain of the headache and the angry voices of the search party have gotten worse though. The angry voices begin to turn into screams from hellish nightmares. They get louder and louder to the point where Mobile covers his ears. "Shut up." he says softly. "I'm sorry for failing you guys but could you please be quiet?" 

Louder and Louder. "Shut up."

Louder. "Shut up!"

Louder. "WILL YOU PLEASE BE QUIET?!?"

A couple of hours passed and Mobile is sitting on a bench, repetitively hitting himself in the head. "How could I be so dumb?" he says to himself "How the hell am I going to find him now? I should've known better than that. I should've known better than to enter the first door I saw." He falls over onto his side and gives a huge sigh. "I messed up." Mobile whispered to himself. "I messed up big time."

A couple of pigeons land on the ground near the bench. He sighs heavily and closes his eyes. He faintly hears faint sounds and feels as if his body is lighter. He hears voices that sound similar to the fellow others from the search party. They've seem to have gotten more frantic, worried even. Mobile can't make out what they're saying, but he can feel what everyone else is feeling right now. Guilt. Anger. Sadness. Worry. The voices grow louder and louder to the point where it feels like it's taking over.
