What is this?
Canada Day Party @ the Chaos Theatre [OPEN]
-shrugs- well it’s better than no one at all.
Matthew looked over, noticing Gideon. "Hey, you finally showed up to your own party," he grunted. "Very classy."
Canada Day Party @ the Chaos Theatre [OPEN]
"Alright, that sounds good." he said. “I mean the non-alcoholic drink. I don’t want to have you drive me home cause I was an idiot and got drunk." Lawrence mused out.
"How’ve you been doing anyways?" he asked, making small talk with Mattie. After all, they needed to catch up.
"Alright," Matthew got up and looked at the selection of drinks.
"I've been doing pretty well, I guess. Just the same old thing pretty much. What about you?" he spoke as he fixed them both glasses of Cherry Coke and sat back down.
Canada Day Party @ the Chaos Theatre [OPEN]
"I bet." he said, rolling his eyes somewhat. “Let’s make sure Scott doesn’t die this time alright?" he said, half joking. Last time Gideon hosted a party that happened. Who knows, he might do it again.
"Maybe." he said. “I don’t wanna be off my rockers cause I got to drive home so…" he didn’t know where to lead that sentence off. “Yea."
"Well, I don't see that happening..." Matthew sat at the bar, looking a little guilty. After all, he was part of the group that had "tried" to "kill" Scott Pilgrim. That was quite a while ago, though, an they were past that, right?
"Ah, yeah, that makes sense. I can get you something non-alcoholic though if you want. I walked here, so if you really wanted I could drive you home. Whatever you want to do, though." He leaned forward to rest his elbows on the counter, looking at the large selection of drinks behind the bar.

Canada Day Party @ the Chaos Theatre [OPEN]
Lawrence actually was debating on whether or not to arrive at the party. He wasn’t personally invited but felt obligated to go since Scott went and Matthew did too. He was struggling on what to wear, he didn’t want to appear too patriotic like them Americans after all.
He received a text and his phone made a small bing sound. What a lovely little sound. Makes you think like you’re wanted when you hear it. He flipped it and checked who it was from. Obviously Matthew. He replied back quickly, his fingers tapping out the message.
[Text]: I’ll be there soon. [Text]: I’m having wardrobe problems. [Text]: See you there.
He debated on whether or not to send a little heart with that message and decided against it. He didn’t want to seem too clingy after all. He finally decided to just wear a pair of white jeans along with a shirt sporting the maple leaf on it. He drove on to the Chaos Theatre and strolled inside.
"Wow, what a party." he said in a snark attitude. “It’s really lively in here."
Matthew sat up when he saw Lawrence enter. He put his phone away and got up to go meet him. "Hey, you made it," he said. "It's kind of dead right now, but knowing Gideon and his ... networking it's gonna get pretty crowded later."
He led him back over to the bar to sit, since the place was basically empty. "Do you want a drink or something?"
Canada Day Party @ the Chaos Theatre [OPEN]
Turned to face the theatre itself, Julie smiled when she saw Lynette walk into the space only moments after she had gotten her text. Not bothering to excuse herself from her current conversation with Matthew which she believed to be going nowhere, Julie got up from her seat at the bar and went over to hug Lynette and tell her hello. Although it probably didn’t work in her favor that her breath already smelled like alcohol, she could genuinely say she was far from being drunk if asked.
"Look at you all dressed up nice for the theme! You’re not allowed to be that cute. You’re going to upstage the host!" It was obvious Julie was teasing her and not actually upset by or jealous of her outfit, but she still hoped the small compliment worked in her favor somehow. "..Did you want me to get you something to drink or anything? Come sit at the bar with us until more people show up …"
Matthew watched the two of them talk. It was weird seeing Julie happy like that, honestly. She and Lynette must be a good match for each other, somehow. He tilted his head and pondered the couple for a moment more before turning back to the bar. He pulled out his phone and wondered if there was anyone he could text that would actually be coming. If Lawrence was going to come, he'd probably already be working on it. He opened up a message, typed "Hey, are you coming to the party at the CT?" and hit send.
Julie noticed Matthew walk in out of the corner of her eye, but chose not to acknowledge him until he sat and spoke to her. She noticed that his outfit wasn’t at all relevant to the theme, but she didn’t care for once - she wasn’t committed to the theme and in his defense she hadn’t decided on it until late in the planning process.
"Yeah. Can’t you tell I’m just bubbling over with excitement?" she muttered sarcastically, drinking the last of the shot she had made herself. She set down her phone, still not really making eye contact with him but not wanting to be completely rude. She had no clue what to say to him and she was really wishing for Gideon to show up. "..Did you want something to drink or..? ….It’s really weird being here after everything that happened. I know you didn’t see that, but whatever."
"No thanks," he replied to her offer. "I think I'll wait a little bit before I start drinking... And, yeah, I think I get that. I come here often enough it's not weird anymore." He turned around to lean back on the bar, looking out to the rest of the theatre that would soon be populated. "I wonder who all is gonna show up," he said. If it were anything like the past few parties, it'd wind up not being anyone Matthew would hang out with. But maybe, since it was also Gideon's party, it'd be different. Probably not, but it couldn't hurt to hope.
"Hey, how did you and Gideon even manage to work together anyway?"
Today marked the first day that Julie Powers and Gideon Graves would hold a joint party in the infamous Chaos Theatre. Although Julie had some reservations about holding a party with Gideon - and she was sure her friends had the same concerns - she liked the idea of a bigger venue to invite as...
Matthew stood at the main entrance to the Chaos Theatre, as he'd done lots of times before for League meetings and things of that nature. With a grumble about how weird it was for Julie Powers and Gideon Graves to be planning parties together, he walked in. He was early, of course. Why did he always make a point to be punctual? There was nobody here, save Julie. It was really a dumb thing to do, but he did it every time. He noticed Julie's red-and-white outfit and wondered if there was really a theme for Canada Day. He was wearing a dark blue button-up shirt and black jeans. Not exactly patriotic, but then again, he wasn't exactly a Real Canadian. The Fourth of July was coming up, so... His excuses died out and he went to the bar and sat down, leaving a chair between himself and Julie.
"Hey," he greeted her. "Uh... Happy Canada Day, I guess."

Open Starter because Why Not
Lawrence never really got out much. If he did though it was because he was a complete dork who had some movies he wanted to watch. Sure it was late, but unlike Scott he was responsible enough to get home and go to work later.
The movie was over. It was obviously a different one than what Matthew had went to watch. Probably because he wasn’t all that into chick flicks. Sure they were alright, just not his type of movie.
When he got out he stretched his arm. After all, sitting in one place for a few hours did make one a bit stiff in the joints. He yawned and looked around the place. He noticed Matthew and wondered what he was doing here. Welp maybe he should go ahead and approach and ask him. And so he did.
“Hey! Mattie!”
Upon hearing his name, Matthew turned and saw Lawrence coming up to him. "Hey, Lawrence... What are you doing here?"
Oh, right, Matthew. Like there were really more than one reason a person would be at a movie theater. Soooo slick.
"I mean-- Which movie did you see? Yeah."
-text- Hay, we are throwing a shindig at the CT. You in or out?
Looks like I've got nothing better to do. When is it?

Matthew blinked, his eyes adjusting from the darkness of the theater he was just now exiting. He tossed his empty popcorn bucket in the trash can and headed for the door.
He had just attended the midnight showing of The Bling Ring, the year's newest chick flick (but it was also a crime film!), and now he was ready to head home and go to bed.

>> Road Trip [@Everyone in the Ring + Wallace & Neil]
“Try not to be too long or we’ll leave without you!” she called after him absentmindedly. Left alone again she sighed and sat cross-legged on her chair. Biting her lip, Julie began a text to the people who she was expecting to come before frustratingly deleting it all and trying another text to Lynette asking if she was interested in coming.
Not too much later, Matthew was pulling up to the front of the Second Cup in his generic-gray 1992 Honda Accord. His bags were packed in the trunk and he'd made sure the inside of the car was as clean as he'd remembered. He parked it there in front and got out to sit at Julie's table to wait.
