When a business owner says that, I usually ask:
The answer is rarely broad.
It's usually something very specific:
β’ Hiring a new employee.
β’ Investing in marketing.
It may sound like a lack of certainty.
But what they are saying is:
"What if I make the wrong decision?"
And that's a fair concern.
Every important business decision comes with risk.
The challenge is that waiting has a cost too.
The employee who should have been hired.
The marketing campaign that never launched.
The price increase that never happened.
The opportunity that passed by.
During our coaching session when a client tells me they're unsure, my first question isn't, 'What information do you need?'
My first question is, 'What's making you hesitate?
Because once we identify what's causing the hesitation, we can work through it.
Is it lack of information?
Is it conflicting advice?
Is it a previous bad experience?
Most of the time, the answer becomes much clearer when we uncover what's behind the uncertainty.
We've found that business owners get stuck not because they can't make decisions.
They get stuck because they're trying to make an important decision without first understanding what's causing the hesitation.
What's one business decision you're currently unsure about?
