Smagg's Smug Suppositions

You may want to backup pics from my sketchblog, I don’t know if the entire account will not be deleted. I have most or all of them on my HDD anyway, so I’m not losing on them, but you don’t have that privilege.

But what was fun was a short vacation in Budapest! They make a killer goulash there. And that architecture is magnificent, from the Parliament to the Labyrintus. It inspired me anew, so I draw a bit more. Maybe I could become a computer artist professionally again?

I am still living at my girlfriend's flat. That is basically all, we are bonding a lot, but I also miss having a place of my own.The renovations are supposed to end mid-September and then I go for a short vacation. It's interesting that despite having a smartphone I am still a bit cut off from social media. To all those whose birthdays I missed, sorry! Speaking of, my own is coming in a month and it's already causing me grief.

Uprooted - that's the word for July and August this year.Renovation of my flat has started and my car is in the shop. Most of my earthly possessions are simply unavailable to me, packed away in a spare room as people are slowly working on renovations that were supposed to be ending by now. Same with the car, due to the formalities with insurance and car shop workload they're only starting on it now, when I left it with them several weeks ago.I am very lucky for my girlfriend. If it wasn't for her I would have no place to rest my head and no way to move around town. I have backup in my brother, but that's still quite a distance from my flat and I need to let the men in every morning (though they not always come, which is infuriating). Even posting on tumblr has been stalled for me. Suffice to say I am far from comfort right now. The elation that came with getting my room clean has evaporated with living during a summer with no easy access to a shower. And I hate the feeling that I am making life difficult for several people and I cannot do anything about it.

And then... I will need to ask my girlfriend for some space to draw Agrest. Who knew relationships could be so demanding and time consuming?

All of this means I'm going to be lighter on funds next month, which makes all the new apparent problems worse than they are. But I'll focus on them in the June journal entry. Enjoy the weather!

It's Spring! Birds are singing, flowers are blooming, sun is shining and people with allergies are living in hell! What else can a man hope for? Love maybe? On that topic we did start a relationship, the girl I mentioned previously and I. We've just began, so we're really lovey-dovey... Okay, my inner snarky asshole bubbles up from time to time, which she has certainly noticed. She has already noticed I take "despicable" as a compliment. I'm having a good time at work, I've been noticed by the management. I may get a pay rise sometime in future. Other things were working out pretty well too, so I'm starting to feel a disaster is overdue. As you can imagine my free time has been filled up recently. Although I am less frustrated overall, it also means I haven't worked on Agrest at all. So in turn I'm frustrating you all. Now maybe if I let that bring me down it will motivate me to fix it. One can't really improve if everything's fine and dandy.

Yes, pretty late this time. It was a pretty eventful month and it's not stopping with April. How was your Easter? I felt like it came too early this year and snuck up on me. It was a bit tiring as my niece has grown into a pretty loud and demanding girl – and she's just two! I shudder to think what will happen when she grows bigger. Hopefully she'll civilize in the next year or two. A new hobby store has opened in walking distance from me. They don't carry Infinity yet, but they said they can order it. If they do start carrying it, woe is me – the distance from Wargamer (and the awful parking situation there) is one of the things stopping me from spending too much on it. Nevertheless I wish the new store luck. I hope they carry more board games as well, and the owner mentioned people were asking about Vallejo paints. I'll hit it up if I need a resupply. Now onto stuff more pertaining to me: March was a really good month. I finally got a full salary (with extras due to some overtime) and I filed my tax forms early, so I  got a return already as well. Which means I'm secure financially for the first time since December. That's definitely some stress down.I think I'm settling in pretty well in my job and I'm rather optimistic about getting my contract renewed. I'm still on the "trial period", but it should end mid-April. Agrest has been fully thumbnailed. I'll start working on finished pages soon. I'm not sure about my action scenes, but I'm confident about the jokes. However I'm running very low on tumblr fodder, so I'm always going to be in two minds about doing a bunch of sketches or working on a page. I intend to stick to posting a drawing there every day as much as I can. I'm definitely going to take a break from drawing comics once I'm done with The Rat, the Warlock and the Old Tomb. I don't know if there will be any future installments of Agrest yet. Oh! And I think I'm heading into starting a relationship with someone. We're kind of checking each other out right now. She's interested in Infinity, which is a plus, but disagrees with me about the quality of McDonald's breakfast or bananas being great. So it's not settled yet.

Not that I had any real income from it, but just so you all know.
