as much as i understand the impulse, and have lots of things i get pissy about or roll my eyes over myself, i'll never be a "you should only ever regurgitate Strictly Canon Compliant Material and if you stray from that path it's an Insult to the Source Matetial" person. like for one who cares. the original work is already there to look at you're not losing anything. go outside. for two, the vast majority of shit that people obsess over on the internet is not anything i'd lose sleep over someone misenterpreting, lmao. for three, and most importantly i think- i'm more curious about the contents of some fanartist's own brain and what they find compelling and want to communicate, rather than seeing the thing i've already seen again over and over again. there's more going on there it's more artistically rich than endless copy-pasting. even if it sucks.

caveat- all that said if you misinterpret cyrus pokemon on the internet im allowed to hit you with a big rock

alright. i get pissy about dr every time a new chapter comes out because i dont think drowning a sim by selling the pool ladder is an evil act or whatever. but i can get in on the weaponized/self-defeating nostalgic escapism that is my shit i like that bit obviously. so i have to appreciate ch5 (normal route), which focuses on asgore losing touch with reality in the name of exonerating himself so that everything can Go Back To Normal, being the most aggressively "heyyyy guys remember Undertale???" chapter to date in a way that feels like it is deliberately making fun of you every step of the way. that rules. i really like that. heckle the audience some more.
