You think Magical Mr. Mistoffelees is the worst song in the show? He's my favorite! He's so sparkly! He was my intro to camp as a small child! I have so many more thoughts about this cursed show.
I would like to revise my opinion on that because several people have reminded me of the ah. Very Racist numbers that usually get cut from the show and that I had completely memory-holed. THOSE are the worst songs in CATS, the musical.
That Said,
Mr. Mistoffelees The Character: Fantastic. Campy As Hell. Delightful to watch. Look at him rock those Fouettes. Perfect.
Mr. Mistoffelees The Song: Stuck In My Head Like A Popcorn Kernel Gets Stuck In Teeth. It admittedly has Very Gay Implications, but the hint of Rum-Tum-Tugger/Mr. Mistoffelees shipping is not enough to compensate for that nauseatingly repetitive chorus. Definitely one of the weakest songs in the whole musical, and definitely NOT done any favors by being wedged between the two best songs.

Kaity I have a problem and I need help. I have a friend, we've been friends for almost ten years, and she had a kid a little over 4 years ago. And she's CONTROLLING. At first it wasn't so obvious, because the kid was a baby, but now she's toddling around and trying to create opinions and preferences and her mum is making it clear that that is NOT ALLOWED. She wears what mum wants her to wear (okay not unheard of), she eats what mum wants her to eat (also not super weird, but this kid cant eat ANYTHING she wants, only what her mums wants), plays with the toy mum wants her to play with at that particular time, watches the show mum wants her to watch, etc. This child is not allowed to protest, or have an opinion or like something for herself. She asked to watch something on tv and her mum replied "No you dont like that". She was very sweetly and quietly playing with her blocks and her mum went over, took them away and went "Play with this instead", handing her a doll. I was there the other week, and her mum told her to give me a hug. She clearly didnt want to, so I said it was okay and she didnt need to. Her mum immediately jumped in and said "No she has to learn to do what she's told and to be polite", I told her "No you need to stop, I am not hugging a child that clearly does not want to be hugged". My friend then got pissy WITH THE CHILD for 'looking like she didnt want to'. I told her she was insane and left. I feel bad. I definitely don't want to be her friend anymore, but I feel like I need to help this child. Any tips?
I mean unfortunately you can't do anything cause that's no your kid all you can do is exactly what you did, and keep doing it, being around to put those ideas in both the child and parents head like hey you don't have to do things you don't wanna do! This isn't right! That's a human being! You're a human being! Be their voice of resistance

When @darlingofdots visited me back in august we watched the rescuers down under and realized we needed a tem mouse au, and since I'm such a laid-back person with a lot of free time on my hands I decided it would require NO LESS than 4 full pieces, enjoy :)

if you work in a creative field...or if you do creative hobbies like writing or drawing...you need to make friends with people who don't do those things. you need to befriend normie Steve who has never written a story in his life. and this is because when you are in a creative job or hobby and spend all your time doing that thing, surrounded by very capable people, who you inevitably compare your own progress and skills to, you forget what the baseline human skill at that thing is. and it's usually zero. normie Steve has not written a story since the 3rd grade when his teacher made him do it. he's very good at other things that are not storytelling - but if you tell normie Steve that you wrote a full 300-page book from start to finish, he will think you're some kind of savant. he does not know ANYONE else who has done this. you need this perspective. because when you're constantly on Let's Write Stories dot Com then everyone on Let's Write Stories dot Com will inevitably be like "oh of course everyone on earth has written a book or several at this point!" and you canNOT let yourself think that. that is not even close to the average human experience. you are in a bubble. do not put yourself down. do not give up.
