It was early days, the 4th Century, when the holy Roman Empire had legalized Christianity and it's divine tendrils began digging into the population. Minor sects still prospered, worshipping the old pantheon, although many had accepted their non-existence and simply went along with it for traditions sake.

So is the case for young Vighna, born to an egyptian father and roman mother, carving a place for himself as a leader of one of these sects. He dedicated his life to... a god. In frank he didn't care which one, as long as it garnered him a loyal following willing to provide for him. By his 20th year his mother and father were dead, and he used his dire life status to portray himself as a prophet.

By the 390s the ostracisation of the old sects reached a boiling point, and Vighna moved his group of fifty or so followers to the mountains outside of the city. The group's worship of the real gods dwindled and Vighna's influence took hold, and by 394 AD Vighna was their malicious, powerhungry leader.

To celebrate the Kalends of January Vighna ordered the group to prepare a feast, and one member wandered back near midnight a wreck, harbouring a new strain of plague, its origin unknown. As the group dug into the food like animals this member, a frail plebeian woman named Prima, sunk her teeth into a fellow sect member.

In the next hour the entire cult would turn on eachother, their bodies unable to cope with the new onset hunger as they fed on eachother. Vighna too was bitten, but fled his group and hid in one of their huts while the grand feast continued. As silence began to fall, the bodies of the first vampires going still and dead, Vighna emerged and watched over his now dying coven. He salivated, his growing teeth sharp and desperate. He ate well that night.

As the centuries went on Vighna found himself travelling the world, trying to lead other groups as he had been raised to believe he could. He was a malicious advisor for the House of Rurik in Kievan Rus'. He claimed to be a christian prophet in the medieval ages, hijacking a monastery and taking the monks as worshippers. He was a pirate for a few years in the late 1800s.
