the only time i care about mischaracterization is when it’s to the point where the character betrays their core values or something. unless it’s for a very good reason (they were brainwashed/mind controlled/otherwise forced to, they went through severe trauma that changed their personality in significant ways, etc). but stuff like making a character who values loyalty above literally everything else including their own life, willingly cheat in a relationship… there’s no reason that would ever happen or work in a story. otherwise do whatever you want, i don’t really care. if your story has a character go through things that change their personality in whatever way, or if it’s several years after the source material and they’ve matured. i don’t think it rlly counts as mischaracterization to have them behave accordingly. or if it’s just minor changes/things that weren’t explicitly denied in canon, things like having a cruel character be kind to their family in a fanwork. a lot of the things people call “mischaracterization” aren’t even mischaracterization. usually it’s just. someone having a slightly different interpretation.

thinking about when my brother got chatbanned from overwatch and the email they sent him after he tried to appeal it said “we dont normally bring up the incriminating messages, but in this case we feel its necessary to show you what got you banned” and it was all shit like “ i will kidnap you in the desert and make you forget how to eat”

i like that i have a clear purpose in life (art) but i often feel like im extremely undateable bc of this. my experiences with dating/relationships when it comes to my or any art have been indifference or envy, both lead to resentment eventually. it's weird but ig i should try dating other furry artists or furry art appreciators bc other ppl Don't Get this at all and i feel like a freak. but like in a negative way
