Linda Liddle β Send Help (2026)
just watched "Send help" and my brain kept switching during the movie from "God he's gorgeous" to "I hope she kills him"
Good job to Send Help for reflecting the cycle of abuse when Linda and Bradley are stranded on that island. Manipulation. Gaslighting. The lies to control each other and stop them from leaving the βrelationshipβ. The love bombing to reassure that everything is fine. βIβm sorry I stabbed you.β βand Iβm sorry I did that to your eye.β βI love you so much.β <-that being said when theyβre covered in blood and she has a shotgun pointed to his chest. Like MULTIPLE times they try to kill each other and then pretend it didnβt happen after meaningless promises to never hurt each other again. Linda convincing Bradley that no one will help him except her after cutting off his rescue and chance to leave the relationship. Bradley giving her intimacy, vulnerability, and companionship and using that to trick her and destroy the things that makes her happy. Also Bradley only really liking Linda when she was useful to him but (not-so) secretly despising her before they even got on the island. Like damnnn itβs been a while since a movie tickled my brain like this give me moreeee

Watched Send Help. I support autistic women's wrongs. Anyway that was an interesting movie
some thoughts after watching Send Help starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan OβBrien:
subverts gender power dynamics in a way that seems to intentionally make men uncomfortable- the βfixingβ scene?? Jaw dropped.
Asks the question of βcan a character be the protagonist AND the antagonist?β (answer: if the audience is watching for the plot/rooting for Linda, she is the protagonist. If they switch sides and root for Bradley, she becomes the antagonist. Her role depends on the neutrality of the fourth wall.)
Purposely withholds scenes from the audience to make us a reflection (a product?) of Lindaβs denial/gaslighting. We are not just observers but active participants in the psychological thriller
Bradleyβs arc was typical of stranded-on-an-island characters: learning skills to survive. Lindaβs arc was the opposite because she came to terms with killing (innocents). Bradley wanted to leave, Linda wanted to stay. Both would do anything to achieve their own goal. Their parallels are natural enemies, which both foreshadows and precipitates the final confrontation.
The progression of Bradley, from being 1) the obvious villain (obnoxious useless privileged bully) to 2) the dude who Does Things in Reaction to his Situation to 3) oh shoot, the victim?
The competence of Linda was soo satisfying, coming from someone who watched Scream 7 recently

Everything comes back to golf
When was the last time a woman did something truly twisted and still got to live happily ever after? [good for her] Memorable moments:
Linda, covered in ratβs blood, smiling at a paralyzed, petrified man: βMy kindness does not make me weakβ
Bradley, after Linda claims Zuriβs death was an accident, βjust like your husbandβs death was an accident?β
still thinking about her btwβ¦ linda liddleβ¦. my wifeβ¦.. dylan o brien or whatever your characterβs name was ur such a fucking coward iβll never forgive u for not kissing the extremely hot insane womanβ¦β¦.. disappointment. anyways everyone go watch send help (2026) it was good and rachel mcadams is awesome and beautiful and kills things and i need herβ¦β¦β¦ ugh β‘
Misty Quigley walked so Linda Liddle could run
saw send help and am obsessed with the core of the film aka the scene where linda talks about her husband and bradley talks about his mom. because then you think about it and each one is just a stand in for the otherβs past abusive relationship. bradley canβt accept lindaβs power over him but when he realizes he needs it he puts on a charming compliant facade that you can imagine was what he needed to survive his childhood all while growing more and more hateful. linda keeps bradley there and makes him dependent on her even when he manipulates and insults and poisons her because she canβt stand being alone and suddenly you can imagine the cycle that kept her and her husband married for 10 years. bradley sees her as his mom and is never attracted to her and shakes his head at the food she feeds him like a child. linda sees him as her husband and pictures the life they could have together as a couple. both were operating on hardware from decades past and were never going to change. no one talk to me.
