Neil could barely keep his eyes open any longer, his lids growing heavier and heavier as the two boys laid stretched out on one of their beds. Todd had been helping him with preparing his lines for the upcoming play he had been cast in. Neil was eager and passionate about the project, but he couldn’t help the anxiety that crept up into his mind about possibly messing up his lines and ruining the entire play. The boy had managed to rope his best friend into running lines with him hours ago, and they were still at it late into the night. Neil had to admit that Todd was more of a trooper than most would give him credit for, and one of the best friends that Neil had ever had. Stating as much out loud in his tired, sleep deprived state. “You’re the best, Todd…” he murmured around a yawn, eyelids falling closed and letting his cheek fall against the script that was propped against his pillow. “I’m serious…” he mumbled in response to the boy’s objections. “I love you,” he told the other, falling asleep not seconds after the words escaped his lips.
