The last thing Sky needed at the supermarket right now was being bumped into. She was already having a terrible day. This is why she preferred to instacart. But she was literally passing Whole Foods on her way home from her audition so she literally had no excuse. She had learned her lesson though. Always instacart. She nearly dropped the oranges she had been picking and putting in her reusable produce bag when she felt Parker bump into her. In typical Sky fashion, she let out a very heavy sigh. But she knew Parker and she knew that Parker didn't mean it maliciously. How could she be mad at her anyway? "S'alright, I suppose. Hey, where did you find those herbs?" Sky wasn't much of a cook, even though at times she tried. This was New York after all, and it was almost impossible not to get addicted to take out. She was trying to eat healthier though, and she knew that one of the best ways to do that was to cook her own meals. Still, the ease of Uber Eats and tempting as fuck. "You guys cook for your foster kids?" She asked curiously. Sky had a terrible experience in the foster system and she'd be lying if she said that she wasn't interested in Parker and Charlie's experience with fostering kids here in New York. Sky blinked a few times as she thought to herself. Maybe if she had foster parents like Parker and Charlie then she wouldn’t have had such a shit life, and maybe she wouldn’t have been as cold hearted as she was now. “They are really lucky to have people like you. People who care. There are way too many people out there who take advantage of the Foster system. They don’t care as much for the kids as they should, ya know?” Sky pressed her lips together when Parker invited her over. She though about the invitation for a moment. I’d be a little hard to see that, but at the same time it might be good for Sky. “I don’t really get along well with kids. And kids tend to not like me. Parker shifted her weight from one leg to the other as she listened intently. “I was lucky enough to have my dad, without him I don’t know what would have happened. It’s a scary thought but things would be completely different. When Charlie brought it up with me I was open to the idea, I didn’t realize how bad other homes could be. I’m really glad she got me to sign up.” Parker beamed, her hand coming up to scratch her shoulder. “Well you could come over any time, we love having guests. Sky couldn't believe that she was working with kids either. She never really expected to do so, and never expected she would actually like it so much when Jaycee offered her the job at the dance studio. But she like that she could spend one about an hour with the kids, be able to foster a good relationship with them, then give them back to their parents later. "I'd rather work with them. That way I don't have to worry about raising them or anything. I can just have fun with them and teach them dance, and not worry about anything else." She chuckled. Sky knew that having kids was never going to be in the cards for her, and she was completely okay with that. Happy in fact. "Oh I'll probably eat anything you put in front of me. I've tried everything under the sun since I've moved around so much. Happy to swap stories too. I'm sure Charlie would be mortified." The dancer joked. "I'll make sure to scare them straight. Jess wiggles in anticipation for Sky’s tale and props her chin on the palm of her hand. The blonde could sell a good story, but Sky.. she was an actress. This was her calling. She was meant to play these sort of parts and to tell a story. The perfect pitch. Jess learns a lot of that from her bestie. She used her expressions to relay her reactions — first, eyes wide in curiosity and wrinkling her nose at the mention of how they had finished their activities upon her friend’s arrival. “I don’t know how you do it.” She admits, a slight awe to her tone. “I mean, I know it’s like an acting thing, but you can really sell the opposite.” She giggled and takes another sip from her glass. Her eyes rolls a little, because of course her best friend has to say that to Trav. She’s not surprised, knows how the relationship between her and Mat was, and there could be some truth to it for all she knows.. but that didn’t make what he did any less brave. She hoped it was a turning of a new leaf. “At least you don’t have to ‘date’ him anymore.” She says, air quoting the word date for a brighter note. “I didn’t think he would’ve either.. but maybe he found a love that’s helped changed his mind.” Ah, love. She believed it could subdue even the sourest of creatures. Not that.. Mat is sour. She’ll leave that information for Trav to know only. “Tacky, maybe.. but it does make finding all the themed decorations feel like a little treasure hunt.” She giggled, sips from her glass then sets it aside so she could take another bite of her banana pancakes. “How cool would it be to have your own love story made into a published book, though?” Her eyes gleam with the thought. ”Then made into a movie– who would you have play yourself?”
Sky and Jess constant fed off of each other like this. As Sky noticed Jess get more and more into her story, Sky’s excitement grew. At this point they were no doubt the loudest party in this restaurant. Which was absolutely nothing knew. They were absolutely ridiculous and didn’t give a fuck about what other people thought. “I know, I mean...” Sky shrugged. “I did pretend to be in love with Mat for...how long? Months. God, it seems like that part of my life was forever ago. And I can’t believe he’s out...which, even though that makes it seem that all those months of hell were for nothing, I’m actually a bit happy for the lad.” She shook her head and let out a heavy sigh. She was also extremely jealous of him. He was actually in a happy and healthy relationship which was something that Sky was forced to leave when she signed that contract. She lost everything because of that contract and Mat seemed to only gain fame and happiness. It was everything that Sky wanted. She was slowly getting famous, but was she really truly happy? She had a lot of nice things; things she had never had before. But would it all be worth it? “I know that I’d be the absolute worst bride in the world. God, I’d be such a nightmare. You would be the best maid of honor though. I know I wouldn’t have to worry about a single thing with you by my side.” She grinned. “I’m sure my love story would make a terrible book, babes. But to play me in a movie? The dream would be Rhianna. I wonder how her English accent is.” She laughed at the thought. “I suppose I’d settle for Kerry Washington.” She joked that the Queen Kerry Washington herself playing her would be a settlement. “Oh Margot Robbie should play you. No doubt.”
he’s stood against the bar at throuple, eyes looking out at the dance floor for a moment. mac spots somebody rather familiar, seeming to walk towards him or, er, probably more towards the bar, but, he’s still going to spark up conversation. “any drink suggestions? i don’t know what to drink tonight.” mac shrugs for a moment, leaning back once more. “i’m waiting for them to play some britney, if i’m honest. this place could use a britney night.”
“Vodka soda with a lime and splash of cran. It’s so basic, but vodka cran’s have so much sugar and give me the worst bloody hangover.” She chuckled shortly. It was their first time hanging out as cousins. It was weird. Sky grew up without knowing about any of her family and now she suddenly had both Tee and Mac. She was still trying to wrap her head around it all. “Oh so you’re that New York City gay?” Sky smiled because she had a feeling they were going to get along. “Alright, mate. Lady Gage or Ariana Grande?” She raised her brow because that was a hard question for her too.
Kam could tell of course that Sky would literally rather be doing anything other than talking to him right now, but that didn’t stop him from continuing to run his mouth. It’s what he did best after all. He pretending to think for a moment when she asked him about talking to strangers, as if he didn’t already know the answer. He had to at least act like he had some form of restraint. “Not everyone wants to talk, but sometimes people do. I’ve made some really great friends by talking to strangers. You never know if someone is having a shit day and just needs someone to talk to.” Clearly that wasn’t sky, but his point still stood.
Sky gave up and took her AirPods out of her ear, turning to him to engage in conversation. Maybe if she played along then he’d get bored and move onto something else. He seemed like the type to get distracted by other things easily. “Are you having a shit day and need someone to talk to? I’m not suggesting myself, but my good friend is a therapist. Maybe you can talk to him.” It was in that moment when Sky realized who she was talking to. Tee’s ex. “I mean..um...I could refer to my therapist instead. She’d the best.”
