Grant sees Abigail's video of exploring the old C&A offices somehow (maybe one of his kids showed him?), sees that she found a computer and brainscanner still running, and ends up contacting her about it like "hey I used to work in that building and I'm kinda concerned about it still being powered can you maybe show me where you found that stuff?"

And they go over there and Grant finds the computer and accesses the program and sees that the AI they left running made this complex creation with a bunch of random people's brainscans running around

And the AI and the brainscans are acting erratically until kinger.exe pops up like "Oh it's me! Hi real me!" and explains everything

And Grant is like oh shit we spawned sentient beings somehow I gotta get them somewhere safe while also making sure no one else gets accidentally brainscanned so they move all the equipment to Grant's house

And Abigail contacts all the people not part of the initial C&A team like "hey so remember when you went into that building and put that random headset on? Welllllll..."
