Ryuji is just about to turn and leave when Kamoshida speaks, hand on the door handle, poised to turn it and leave. He’d planned to go in and out without a conversation, but Ryuji already knows he’d give his life for Akira and hasn’t even known him for more than a week.

He stares at the man in his peripheral for a moment, narrows his eyes, doesn’t trust a goddamn word coming out of his mouth, but Akira’s all he’s got, and if he’s in trouble, he’d be a fool to ignore it.

The blond hesitates before turning to face him fully, cautious. “...Go on.”

“A-ah! H-hey! Yusuke!!”

Ryuji squeaks as the other pulls him in for kisses, bright red spreading across his cheeks like wildfire, seeping low enough to reach his shoulders. It made the freckles on his skin light up like stars at night, too, having evidently spent time in the Sun. He wants to hide, but all he’s wearing is his ‘ON UR MARK’ tank top, and that was as barebones as Ryuji’s wardrobe as it got.

When Yusuke pulled away, Ryuji fell down onto him, hiding his red face in Yusuke’s shoulder and letting out a breathless ‘guh’.

Akira stopped still, a wave of guilt hitting him like a train. Did Ryuji….feel that way? Had Akira really not noticed? “I…no, that’s not…” Not intentionally, at least. Akira would admit to prioritising his relationships lately, but he’d never, never intended to alienate anyone in the process. He just got caught up in the moment sometimes, lost sight of anything not directly in front of him. “Ryuji, I’m so sorry, I swear that’s not it, I just….It’s no excuse but I’m just so focused on other things right now, I forgot…” His apology did nothing to erase his own guilt at making his friend feel this way. “I’ll make it up to you, I swear. Name your price”

Ryuji fumbled for his words a moment, hating himself for making Akira apologise for something that probably wasn’t even his fault. It was probably Ryuji’s. That made more sense.

When the blond was told to make a choice, he blanked for a moment, spent some time restarting Ryuji.exe, and then formulated his response, face the very embodiment of nervousness. Take a step closer. Little closer.

“Y-you should... kiss me. So I know you really wanna... uhm... Make it up to me. “ He mumbled, close enough to the raven that Akira was bound to hear it. A second passed, then too, and Ryuji bit his lip with anxiety, glancing away flusteredly.

They had gotten the scent of upcoming destruction and ran to be a catalyst, and I fear that 1 is still out causing mayhem. 〞

Ryuji furrowed his eyebrows a moment, trying to figure out what it is that the weird guy said, taking a moment for it to process before parsing over what to say in response. Act like the mortal you are? Maybe. Trying to match Gundham’s speech would be like getting a C on his Maths paper. Impossible.

Yusuke was beyond incensed, more so by Ryuji’s placid react to getting such a beating from people he had cared about enough to stand up against Kamoshida.

“I just.. Nope. Not going to argue this. What they did was wrong and you’re wrong for acting like it’s okay.”

Ryuji went silent, stunned by the vocal aggression the other was displaying. He shrunk, screwing his eyes shut and wincing. Fists were clenched tight, and instinctively, he raised his arms up to cover his face from any future attacks.

But nothing came.

Slowly, he pulled his arms away, staring at Yusuke with wide eyes. Tentatively, he spoke up, spending a few moments finding his voice.

“Look at you..” Yusuke breathed out as he spoke quietly. “What a mess you’ve got yourself in..” He reached out to gently touch a rather sizeable bruise on Ryuji’s face, face scrunching as he imagined how painful it must be for him.

“What happened..?”

“I-I said it was nothing...!” Ryuji looked guilty, heart hurting at the gentleness of Yusuke’s fingertips. The blue-haired male was touching him like his skin was broken porcelain, and he gingerly winced as his cheek throbbed, already blossoming a deep and sore purple.
