Gotham Academy was full of life as students chattered by. Skip arranged his new classroom for the first day in a hurried sort of frenzy. It had become a habit to leave things for the last, and he was so excited to see him again that he completely forgot about the other duties he had.
It had been 9 years since he'd last seen Peter. Since he'd last seen his baby. Never in those years had any cop come knocking down his door, so he knew that the kid had obeyed him even when he wasn't around. It gave him a sick sort of satisfaction he always craved.
Skip had missed Peter. His doe brown eyes, his baby face, everything. So, he decided to track him down. It wasn't hard, all things considered. He'd just moved from Queens to Gotham. Big change of scenery, but not big enough for Skip to let go of his Einstein.
Peter kept going. He was late for class.
"Hey- thanks, bud!" He high fived his friend and kept walking. "Okayy, AP chem! Here we go. First day."
He froze when he entered the class.
"Westcott."
He stepped back. No. No. No. No.
Skip looked up as he heard his name. His face automatically started smiling at his long lost friend.
"Hey, you know it's Skip to you, Einstein! We're friends after all."
As he noticed the boy take a step backwards, he felt his eyebrow twitch in annoyance.
"Come on in, take a seat up front, now. We got a long day of learning ahead of us."
