GOODBYE UNCLE TOM (1971) - INTERRACIAL MOVIES (Part 7/10)

Directed by Franco Prosperi and Gualtiero Jacopetti (of Mondo Cane fame), Addio Zio Tom is a MUST-SEE movie (filmed in their trademark documentary style) as its depiction of the slave trade between Africa and the US is one of the most gruesome and realistic ever put on screen (even by Amistad/Spielberg’s standards).

The movie tracks African slaves from the moment they are abducted in Africa to their arrivals in the southern US plantations where hard labor, punishment and interracial sex are shown without crudeness and in a hyperrealistic way.

The very rare large B1 Japanese movie poster above shows this perfectly and merits its inclusion in this Blog
