A Glasgow nightclub has installed a two-way mirror which allows male revellers in private booths to spy on unsuspecting women as they visit the toilet! With no notification or signage anywhere in the venue many female club goers have been left feeling embarrassed and used. Although they do briefly show the mirrors in a promo video, the club has been quickly deleting comments and posts on their social media from club goers trying to alert others to the situation. This is pretty much illegal and hugley violates privacy. Thank you The Shimmy Club for giving us a shiny, new, creative and cool take on objectification. article here
iâm never leaving my house again, this world is just too fucked up.
gross gross gross gross gross
Good morning disgusting. Remember ladies:
âNo space, leave the placeâ (fingernail test)
A two way mirror must be set INTO the wall, not placed on top of it.
If you rap/knock against the mirror, one installed onto a wall (a normal mirror) will make a dull sound, because thereâs something behind it. A two-way will have more reverberation.
Use the flashlight on your phone to shine on the mirror, if itâs a two-way, youâll be able to see into the other room.
You can also shield your eyes and see in if you lean up against the glass.
The room being viewed will have to be brightly lit (10x brighter than the room looking in), so if youâre in a typical dimly lit club bathroom, youâre ok.
boosting the fuck out of this
They have this in Continental Midtown in Philly, itâs fucking creepy and not cool at all
the most obvious solution i can think of is to break that motherfucker. what are they going to do? sue you for breaking something they shouldnt have had?
Thatâs fucking disgusting.
Hey, fellas. You ever feel like you have to check if youâre standing in front of a two-way mirror? Women do.
Important note: the fingernail test is not accurate! Some cheaper quality mirrors wonât have the gap (like the ones in jewlery boxes and sometimes in hotels), but that doesnât mean that theyâre not regular mirrors. Use the rest of the tips to determine if itâs a 2 way mirror.
On the fucking TOILET!?
Shimmy Clubâs mirror was thankfully removed years ago due to outrage caused from women seeing this post all over the internet so if you find a bar that has one of these mirrors, post it everywhere, kick up shit, cause an outrage! The Shimmy Clubâs still in business but to this day they get bad reviews because of that mirror.

iâm always trying to find ways to lessen my impact on the environment but being a uni student means that most of the time iâm trying to find a balance between realistic long term actions and sustainability. so below, iâve shared some of the ways i currently help lessen my environmental impact as well as some habits iâd like to slowly integrate into my life in the future.
bring your own water bottle - i think this one is pretty straight forward. iâm very lucky in the sense that my university provides a lot of refill stations. i usually pack my water the night before with my lunch so i donât have to stress about it the next day. plus!! with my own water bottle, i can add lemon slices or mint etc. in winter, i like to use a thermos and bring honey lemon water, hot tea, or just not chilly water.
pack your own lunch - this not only helps you save money but also makes sure you know what youâre eating. i have a perfect sandwich sized container as well so it means i donât have to use plastic wrap for anything. since iâm a vegetarian, most of my meals are pretty straightforward and feature rice, pasta, eggs etc. that i can buy in bulk with less plastic packaging as well.
bring your own utensils/keep cup - if you enjoy coffee, either sit in the cafe or bring your own reusable keep cup! my university is really conscious about this so all the nearby cafes let us bring our own cups and sometimes you even get discounts for not using single use cups. when i do go out to eat as well, i try to bring my own utensils so i donât have to use the single use plastic (or even those wooden chopsticks) this also applies to straws for bubble tea or smoothies.
switch milks - i know a lot of people already have coconut, soy, almond milks with their coffee/tea due to lactose intolerance/other medical/personal reasons. many coffee shops do charge for plant milks but if they donât then itâs an option since the dairy industry produces a lot of methane (also plant based milks are healthier). i donât personally buy milk often because i donât drink it so itâs not a big dent in my budgeting but if it is then donât worry about it.
reuse notebooks  - on top of recycling my scrap paper, i reuse notebooks that i never finished. instead of organising my notebooks in terms of papers or courses, i separate them by area of study so it means that i can use the same notebook for ž years for politics or english. otherwise, i use the backs of notebooks to write practice essays, do past papers, doodle, do random brain dumps etc. essentially i treat unused paper in notebooks like loose leaf.
buy pen refills and do pen audits - find out what pens you actually use!! i know for me, iâve felt pressured by the studyblr âaestheticâ to buy stationary that i donât have a use for and it just results in unnecessary consumerism. i use roughly 10 pens at most as well as some art supplies but for my pens, i try to use refills instead of replacing the entire pen. in the future, iâd like to also stop using correction tape and be comfortable enough to just cross things out. i have to use a wide range of pencils for art but in general use, i simply own 3 mechanical pencils and refill the lead instead.
carry a reusable shopping bag - recently, my country banned single use plastic bags so now everyone uses reusable shopping bags or no bags. although you can buy brown paper bags for 20 cents in supermarkets, you never know what youâll need to carry around so i like to bring a tote bag.
invest in a quilt - i am super guilty of getting cold really easily and that means i usually have the heater/thermostat on in winter when iâm studying but recently iâve come to realise that i abuse that a lot. so instead of automatically going to turn on the heater, i try to see if iâm wearing enough first or getting a quilt to put on my lap when i feel cold. this way i donât have to rack a super high power bill in winter.
change your mailing options - previously iâd get mail from my bank regarding bank statements etc. now iâve opted for monthly statements online instead saving the paper that theyâd use mailing me, similarly i no longer sign up for coupon books, circulars, random magazines etc.
thrift shop your clothes - i feel like this is a really big trend in my city but iâm trying to only thirft shop my clothes now instead of buying new. the thrift shops that i have access to are really good quality and itâs basically a reseller where people who bring their clothes in get 50% of the sale. this does mean that clothes are pricier than big chains like h&m but it also means that you have to think about the purchase for longer + a lot of the finds are super unique and will most likely last longer.
mend your own clothes - in a similar sense to thrifting, donât just throw out a shirt because itâs missing a button. a 20 minute youtube tutorial can make sure that shirt remains a staple item in your wardrobe. plus sewing leads to darning your socks, knitting, crochet, or even making your own clothes.
consider epilating/laser hair removal - i used to go through so many plastic razors during summer because i was someone who preferred no hair. i know there are many people who donât mind their body hair and thatâs great! for those of you who do however, considering an epilator (multi use) or even laser hair removal (permanent). both are more expensive however they both also use less plastic (compared to fornightly/monthly throwing away of razors)
bulk make your own snacks - i really want to make my own museli bars in the future since i eat them a lot. usually i try to limit my snacks to things like carrot/celery sticks, fruit, nuts, berries etc. but i try to not get individually packaged snacks (they can be more expensive as well since youâre paying for convenience). this is definitely something i can work on but iâd like to be able to bulk make my own granola, museli, dips etc. in the future.
replant your vegetables - this is a lot more achievable for me since the place i live is rural in land style. currently my family has a multitude of fruit trees, tea trees and weâve recently gotten into reusing our vegetable scraps. for celery/cabbage/lettuce/etc. you can replant the root area. the same goes for spring onions (which are super easy to grow! and garlic cloves!) most vegetables are quite easy to grow with just a bit of googling. even if you donât have a lot of space but would like to give this a shot, consider adding some herbs to your indoors plant collection.
visit farmers markets - unfortunately, this isnât that big a thing where i live but i remember going to a few as a kid and the produce is much fresher, the atmosphere is lovely, and itâs a good way to source food and products. many stalls also sell premade items like jams, sauces, baked goods, soap etc. so if you find yourself busy then it may be a possible investment to buy from farmers markets.
some other habits: composting, public transport, bicycling, bamboo toothbrushes, natural home cleaners, raising your own animals, beeswax wraps, cloth napkins/handkerchiefs, buy in bulk, use rain water to water your plants, invest in a menstrual cup, choose wooden over plastic
disclaimer: you donât necessarily need to buy anything to be more environment friendly!! some things on this list do suggest it but look at your life currently, if you donât drink coffee or tea on the go then thereâs no need for a keep cup etc. invest in products, donât just buy them because theyâve been advertised.also, iâd like to iterate that whilst climate change is a very real and very scary threat, personal use by the general population only results in a small part of it so please donât feel like youâre letting anyone down if your personal situation or any part of your life prevents you from doing more than a few things to help the environment. as long as youâre not being dick to the environment and taking 4 hour showers, using 500 plastic straws a day then doing your best is enough. if you canât do anything more in lessening your environmental footprint, then thatâs okay. other people might be able to so even just spreading the news could help a lot.
if you have any other habits that you do not in this list then please tell me as well so we can all learn from each other !
happy learning everyone xx
I remember one time when I was in an eating disorder treatment center and struggling to finish a particularly hard meal, a therapist kneeled down next to me and said, âYou donât need to prove to me that youâre in pain.â I could feel some emotion starting to come up and I tried to push it away. She said, âTell me about the pain, Lindsay. Use you words, not your body.â Thatâs still one of the most powerful things Iâve been told when in my eating disorder. There have been times, even subconsciously, that Iâve used ED behaviors as a way of showing people how much pain Iâm in, telling them that I am not okay inside.  There are still days when Iâm tempted to take out my emotions on my body, to make my internal pain visible. But sometimes I think about this therapist and it makes me pause, even for a second, and remember that I donât have to destroy myself to prove my pain to anyone. It is valid and real whether I look âsick enoughâ or not.
As a recovering self harmer, âUse your words, not your bodyâ also strongly resonates with me
This broke my heart ..

To gain weight is to die a little
Today I went to a flea market with my grandma and I found an old French women's magazine which was published in 1948 (I made the translation but I'm not English native so be kind if there's mistakes). It said:
"To gain weight is to die a little. It's giving up elegance, pleasure, grace, slimness and up to your true physiognomy. It's losing health. The fat excessive development paralyze the proper functioning of essential organs (heart, liver, kidney...), just like it bothers movements, deforms the body, weigh the walk down, prohibits any activity.
To gain weight, is to say goodbye to joy. It's to contribute to it's own ugliness and to get old before your time.
To lose weight, is to rejuvenate. It's to recover the silhouette of the past. It's reborn to the happiness of life."

Have u heard of kpop diets? Wat r some that u think work?
Technically all of the diets work since idols have shown that they have lost weight (not that they really needed to in the first place). Most of them are quick and short term weight loss methods that idols take on before an upcoming debut, album, or tour. A lot of the diets are unhealthy, excessive, and usually itâs the companies that strictly enforce and moderate the diets.Â
Here are the ones I that think give a healthier plan but shouldnât really be adopted wholly as you should incorporate more meals and snacks to individually suit your weight and schedule:
Seo In Youngâs Banana Diet - âMorning: 1~2 bananas, 2 cups of water. Lunch: healthy and non-greasy Korean meal. Snack: ½~1 banana when feeling hungry. Dinner: Korean meal mostly composed of rice and herbs.â
Park Bomâs Lettuce and Corn Diet - âShe snacks healthily and sometimes substitutes watermelon for rice to keep her satiated. Bomâs a major snacker so she eats a total of five meals a day â three main meals and two snacking meals. Trainer Hwang created the two snacking meals to allow Bom to enjoy her two favorite foods â corn and nuts.â
Yoon Eun Hyeâs Diet - âMorning: rice 170 g, dried pollack bean spout soup, steamed eggs, seasoned sesame leaves, corn salad, kimchi. Lunch: rice 170 g, crab soup, sweet potato sprouts, three colored cold salad, boiled kidney beans, kimchi. Snack: ½ bag of puffed corn cookies, cherry tomatoes 200g. Dinner: rice 170 g, mushroom stew, roasted herring with salt, stir-fried butterbur, bean sprouts, kimchi. Snack: 10~20 strawberries.â
Kim Shin Youngâs Diet - âIn the morning, I eat a bowl of brown rice with stir-fried vegetables. 2 hours later, I eat 10 almonds, soy milk, and a quarter of an apple. In the afternoon, I eat calamari or any another protein source with vegetables, and 2 hours later I once again eat 10 pieces of almonds and an apple.â
Girlâs Generation Diet - âdiet that consisted of rice, grilled chicken breast, blanched broccoli, and seasonal vegetables, while for lunch, they had the same rice and grilled chicken breast, but with a cabbage and paprika salad and almonds. For dinner, the girls had sweet potatoes, eggs, and a cabbage and paprika salad.â
Davichiâs Kang Min Kyung - ârevealed the first secret was sweet potatoes, âI ate half sweet potato a day. With the sweet potato diet I was able to lose 6kg in 2 weeks. I love eating cookies and chocolate, so every time I had cravings for them I would have a bite of sweet potato.â For her second diet secret she credited black juice, which involves in the mixing and grinding of different black foods. Kang Min Kyung explained, âYou mix black beans with black rice and milk, then you grind them to drink.â
And here are the ones I do not recommend since you wonât have any energy or nutrients in your body (youâll most likely gain all the weight back anyways):
IUâs Diet - âdiet menu consisted of apples, potatoes, and protein drinks. Â She would divide the three foods into three separate meals a day (i.e., apple for breakfast, potato for lunch, and protein drink for dinner).â
9 MUSES Paper Cup Diet - âinvolves eating three paper cups of rice, side dishes, and vegetable or fruit.â
KARA Nicoleâs Danish Diet - âa diet plan that is used at the Royal Danish Hospital, is a very strict high-protein and low-calorie diet that lasts for 14 days. The majority of the diet plan is composed of animal protein and black coffee.âÂ
Jung Hye Yeonâs Diet - âMorning: 1 piece of chicken breast, 1 sweet potato, 1 cup of milk, after meal vitamins. Lunch: 1 piece of chicken breast, 1 sweet potato, broccoli. Snack: max of 10 cherry tomatos. Dinner: 1 piece of chicken breast, 1 sweet potato.â
Secretâs Diet - âMonday - Morning: 1 slice of toast, 1 apple, 1 sweet potato. Lunch: chicken breast salad. Dinner: 8 cherry tomatoes, 1 cucumber. Tuesday -  Morning: 1 slice of toast, low-fat milk. Lunch: 1 sweet potato. Dinner: 8 strawberries, 5 cherry tomatoes. Wednesday -  Morning: 1 slice of toast, low-fat milk. Lunch: 1 sweet potato, 5 cherry tomatoes. Dinner: 5 strawberries, 1 cucumber. Thursday - Morning: 1 slice of toast, low-fat milk. Lunch: chicken breast, 8 strawberries. Dinner: 5 cherry tomatoes, 1 cucumber. Friday - Morning: 1 slice of toast, 1 apple. Lunch: 3 eggs, 1 cucumber, 5 cherry tomatoes. Dinner: 10 strawberries, 1 cucumber. Saturday - Morning: 1 slice of toast, low-fat milk. Lunch: 1 sweet potato. Dinner: 1 tofu, 3 cherry tomatoes. Sunday - Morning: 1 slice of toast, 1 apple, low-fat milk. Lunch: 1 sweet potato. Dinner: 1 cucumber.
Remember that idols pair their diets with daily workouts, activities, promotions, and choreography practices that can take up the majority of their day. Most of them are severely under eating, underweight, and sleep deprived.
You should use these diets as a base line guide of what you should be eating, not a set rule that you have to strictly follow. Thereâs a general trend of incorporating foods such as Korean sweet potatoes, brown rice, boiled eggs, salads, and chicken breasts that you should add to your meals.Â
Thereâs really no need to go through such extreme lengths. Theyâre idols for a reason and their whole career, income, and reputation are based on their visuals. Good luck :-)
âSuperstar K2â contestant and artist Park Bo Ram has unveiled how she managed to lose 32 kilograms (70 pounds) while preparing for her debut. While most idols are hesitant to share their complete diet plan with the public, Park Bo Ram recently uploaded a picture of her diet and workout routine on her SNS. From the meals to the workout breaks, the diet plan confirms that her weight loss has been the outcome of rigorous work.
By following the personalized schedule for around two years, the idol has been able to lose a great amount of weight. DONâT SCROLL PAST THIS
for the last 2+ weeks, the Amazon has been catching fire. Yes, itâs the season where thatâs normal but because of the sayings (aka incentive) of our new president, some farmers are taking advantage of that and intentionally setting the trees on fire. Yesterday, because of this, the sky of SĂŁo Paulo looked like this. AT THREE IN THE AFTERNOON.
Hospitals of the northern states are filling up with people (especially children and seniors) claiming they canât breathe properly. ALREADY ENDANGERED ANIMALS ARE DYING. THIS IS SERIOUS.
Germany and Norway, huge donators to the Amazon cause will stop sending money because they donât see results (that can also be credited to our president, who has been tweeting angrily ever since - not because he cares about the environment, btw). That money gives this guy and his team equipment to save little guys like these:
THIS AFFECTS EVERYONE, NOT JUST BRAZILIANS. The Amazon is the largest rainforest in the world, and itâs being destroyed. WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING.
If your country is holding elections, vote for someone who cares about this. Donât let another Bolsonaro or another Trump have the power to do something and then do nothing. This is going to shape our future â if we have one.
PLEASE REBLOG, EVERYONE NEEDS TO SEE THIS!!
side note: not to sound bitter or ungrateful but also like whatâs up with Europe⌠yâall exploited South America for centuries but just because you âarenât seeing resultsâ you stop helping altogether?? if you really wanted to help you wouldnât stop because you think you arenât helping lol
theres a petition going around. PLEASE sign it. this is HUGE
The amazon is essentially the filter for the Earth. I believe something like 40% of our air goes through those trees. Itâs really important to conserve it and other forests.
