I think this is a good example of how posers will mimic a community to come off as "intimidating" with little consideration of the beliefs behind the culture they're copying.

The Metalhead culture, like punk culture in general, is about having a community where you feel safe being yourself. It's supposed to be a community that's accepting of everyone. Black people, Jewish people, women, etc. It IS NOT a community that gatekeeps anyone, but we WON'T support people that glorify violence against people based on race, religion, gender, or anything else they can't change. As I've said before. Punk culture is about fun for everyone, unless you're not for everyone.

Yet people mimic it because they think it's "edgy" and "intimidating", and that's poser shit.

I think of it a lot like this. You get these rich white boys that want to be "intimidating" so they appropriate Black culture and call it "gangster". That's poser shit, and it mimics, repeats, and reinforces harmful racial stereotypes. It completely disrespects Black Culture, and has no consideration for what Black Culture is.

Metalheads have to say "Hey, fuck off with that shit. We don't support fucking fascists." when they see another metalhead supporting fascists.

Just like when we see poser white kids appropriating Black culture, we have to say, "Hey, fuck off with that racist shit. You're making Black people look violent."

Because Metalheads should be a community where people feel safe to be their authentic selves, and if we don't let Fascists know that they aren't welcome here, they'll take that as an invitation. Fuck, the punk community is STILL fighting the ramifications of Nazis joining punk culture in World War 2. That's why punching Nazis is such a huge deal in the Punk community. Don't let them feel welcome.

He isn’t just someone who made some racially dodgy statements and then got attacked for it. He actually is an unapologetic white supremacist who even murdered a fellow musician on racial grounds. Essentially, Varg Vikernes is the musical version of Richard Spencer.

I’m sick and tired of it.

Even if someone or something is ‘deserving’ of it, I’m unwilling to give it. I won’t surrender my humanity. I will disagree, I will criticize, I will reject, I’ll even get angry - but I won’t hate. Don’t ask of me to hate anyone, or anything. I can’t do it. I don’t want to invest in it anymore. It’s the most unproductive, (self-)destructive and violent emotion anyone could possibly invest in.

Hate is not the opposite of love (to me). If I don’t hate, I don’t automatically love, or even like. I’m not neutral, either. I don’t have to hate someone to acknowledge what makes them ‘bad’, and I don’t have to love someone to acknowledge what makes them ‘good’.

Especially don’t ask of me to hate people. Allow me (and yourselves) to separate a person from their opinions to a reasonable degree.

It’s something I would recommend to anyone, in general. Try not to hate. Instead, try to address what makes someone or something disagreeable in a manner that is inspiring to others. Be a good example, rather than a hateful one.

If you demand hate, you demand pain. Don’t demand it of anyone.

Don’t unite in hatred, when the pursuit of betterment could connect you. Don’t be what you despise, be better.

I want to help others be better, too. Not for my own sake, but for everyone’s. I don’t have the opinions I have to impress anyone, or to protect myself, or to separate myself, or to present myself as a good person - my opinions are the driving force in my want to create a better world for everyone. There is a core believe of mine that I will hold on to until I die - most people have the potential to be good, and to do good. Some need help, a few are too far gone.

Around here, if you work at McDonald’s full time, you are legally entitled not only to a very fair minimum wage, but also four weeks of paid time off each year, full medical benefits (including dental), and on top of that, people don’t treat fast food workers like shit here, so they get some basic dignity as well.

I’m first going to address this post, your message, and the submission you sent to this blog. Then I’m going to address a few posts that I’ve seen since I’ve been back. I’m going to do this in one giant post. I’m going to need for people to read carefully and think before responding.

I find this post to be passive aggressive, and if there was a problem then I rather it had been addressed to me. You did not seem to have a problem doing so before.  As I’ve said numerous times before, I understand the feelings people have about this blog linking to some, not all, “anti-SJ” blogs. I have been harassed by “anti-SJ” blogs on my personal blog for talking about my own experiences. Trust me, I understand. This is why I did not even want to reblog or link to any of those blogs in the beginning. The unfortunate reality of the situation is, as hard as it maybe for some to come to terms with, it was anti-SJs that had information. No one else, besides the victims, did. It’s mainly because of them keeping on with links, posts, etc. that half of the information is out there to begin with. No one would know much of anything about people like GirlJanitor, Soflyniggaswannastalkme/Riley, and others if it weren’t for them and people on sites like livejournal (sf_drama) who actually keep up with the information. 

Now that DOESN’T mean we should trust them and be friends or that no one should question their motivations. What I’m pointing out is the facts. You can take it or leave it. No one in the SJ circles besides the victims, and some friends of the victims, made an effort. While people in SJ circles enjoy making tons of posts about how we need to believe the victims, ironically people, besides a few, actually believed the victims when they made call out posts. Victims had been ignored and continue to be ignored. 

I don’t appreciate anyone trying to discredit this blog, because I link some things to a few blogs “anti-SJs” blogs. If the information posted is accurate, what is problem here exactly? If the information is not accurate, state your issue with it. You have a problem with the acne bleaching messages; you apparently are going to write a post about it, then do so.

You have a problem with people, mainly me “interrogating” the posts GirlJanitor wrote on their blog about their family background. Tough. Sorry, not sorry. It’s because of these posts and the ones they made on their MedievalPoC blog that raised multiple people’s eyebrows and made them start to question whether GirlJanitor was being truthful or not. It was a Romani person who came to me in the first place using those posts. They unfortunately have to pay attention when people claim to be Romani since people do lie and try to integrated themselves into their communities for whatever purpose. This is similar to Native Americans, who have to deal with people pretending to be Native American. 

I made my comment about the percentages because generally when a person makes a comment like that, people on tumblr and off, will see that as a sign that that person is lying. No, you’re absolutely right, it’s not only white people who make those comments. It’s generally a sign that that person is not being truthful about who they are. That’s the point I was really trying to make.

You have a problem with the skin bleaching messages, fair enough. When it comes to the anonymous messages, I want to point out that there are people who will send me messages off anon. Then they will turn around and send me the same message on anon. They want to keep identity a secret so they can avoid harassment. Most of these people have already been victims of harassment and abuse. To tell them to “show some courage” when they’ve been showing courage, and were WIDELY IGNORED, is frankly an asshole thing to say. In these cases anonymous messages aren’t anecdotes.

Let me also point out, the only “anti-SJ” blog linked in that GirlJanitor masterpost, if I was to even count it, was in this section of the post.

I spoke already about how an Romani blogger came to me and they spoke about how they felt that GirlJanitor is a fake. There is a link in that message that goes to this post made by FactualWiley. Let it be known that I do not agree with FactualWiley on their views and I do not support them, which I’ve stated on this blog before. The sources they (FactualWiley) linked, the livejournal, deviantart, youtube and photobucket accounts do belong to GirlJanitor. Some of the accounts and apparently some tumblr posts have been deleted by GirlJanitor.

The link takes to you to a response that I gave to an anonymous person, who asked me how I felt about FactualWiley’s GirlJanitor post. The link actually takes you to Chaotically-Neutral’s blog, who last time I checked does not identify as an “anti-SJ”.

When it comes to Chaotically-Neutral, and I’m going to address this quickly, since this was apparently a problem. I did not use Chaotically-Neutral as a source in this masterpost. The first masterpost that was NOT made by me did, and I already addressed the fact that those posts were indeed wrong. 

As someone already pointed out, everyone here is not involved with Chaotically-Neutral. The people involved in this call-out probably have no idea who they are. It’s not a problem for Princesse-tchimpavita to call-out Chaotically-Neutral. It is wrong to associate this entire GirlJanitor/MedievalPoC call-out with one person when there are multiple people. To label this call-out as a smear campaign is false. 

Moving on, last time I checked Allies-person, Big-gadje-world, and Witchy-moomin are not “anti-SJs”. I’ve had Racismschool, Riley/Soflyniggaswannastalkme, and the rest of the crew falsely label this blog, their victims, and others as “anti-SJ” in order for them to discredit what we were saying. I’m damn sure not going to allow you or anyone else to do that to people.

Besides the paragraph above, I mention this about FactualWiley

When FactualWiley googled searched “Malisha Dewalt” they found this obituary that might be the “great-grandmother B” or “grandmother B”that GirlJanitor mentioned. They also google searched “Kritzer” and found the name to be of German origin.

The blog was not linked, the information they found was linked. I’ve said already numerous times, way before this call-out started, that I do not support FactualWiley. 

One thing I can’t help but have noticed is the way people treat this blog versus the blogs ran by Riley and their crew. This blog is held under way more scrutiny than those blogs. I can’t help but wonder why.

I find it funny how most of you, besides the victims and the people everyone is labeling “anti-SJ”, sat in silence for so long as the people, who are now being called out, were going around harassing and abusing others.

Where were all of these criticisms when bloggers like Riley/Soflyniggaswannastalkme, So-Treu, and the rest were harassing, stalking, and lying on bloggers they had vendettas against? Where were any of you when situations such as a child being outted and having her private information spread across the Internet? Where were any of you recently when a Black woman was being harassed and having their full government name posted publicly? Where any of you when countless women of color, and people in general, were being harassed, abused by this group?

Let’s talk about that. It’s amazing how people can pop out of the woodwork to criticize the victims and the people who’ve been defending them but what exactly have any of you done? What have you done to help any victims? I’m not trying to be harsh here and my questions are not aimed at the OP but everyone who comes into my inbox/submission, who reblogs my posts, or makes posts tagging them in my URL name in order to yell at me.

I’m not a perfect person and I can admit my mistakes. What I cannot stand it when people who have sat in silence up until now decide they want to speak up and act holier than thou. The fact of the matter is, most of you would have continued to reblog from people like Riley, GirlJanitor/MedievalPoC if people hadn’t made it know that these people were terrible. Most of you would have continued to follow and support people like them, if these posts weren’t gaining dozens to hundreds to thousands of notes. Most of you would have continued to sit in silence.

Do you know where the people who have spoken out are? They’re not here. If they are, their URL names have been changed or they deleted their blogs, created new ones and are laying low.

I have no problem with criticism as long as it’s constructive. I welcome criticism and I have no problem answering to the wrongs that I do or have done. I can’t help but feel off when I’m receiving tons of criticisms but none of it is going to the people who are doing violent things.

I don’t appreciate anyone trying to discredit this blog because some anti-SJ blogs reblogs some posts. I have no control over who reblogs any of these damn posts on this blog. The idea that I do is ludicrous.

The fact that them reblogging posts is turning out to be the focus instead of the fact that a person, GirlJanitor, has been lying is beyond frustrating. It’s derailing.  I’m completely perplexed about the fact the sole focus is on these “anti-SJs” blogs instead of the person who has been running around lying to everyone. This is taking away from the situation at hand.

At times it feels more as if people want to protect people like GirlJanitor. Never have I seen this many people searching. When Riley and their crew write posts that are horribly wrong, I see massive amounts of reblogging them not even checking if the information is correct. But when I make a post or if I answer a message, multiple people will search to see if the information is correct. Where was all of this when people such as GirlJanitor were posting inaccurate information on personal and their MedievalPoC blog? I love when people do their own research and read up. Why can’t you do that ALL the time?

What I’m trying to get is that there is a glaring difference in treatment of this blog versus those blogs? This blog is held under tons more scrutiny than those blogs are. Why is that?

As I said criticism is not a problem for me. I put a link to all the criticisms this blog has received because I want people to know that this blog has been criticized, that I take your opinions and feelings into account. I apologize to people when I’ve done wrong. This does not make my “spineless” or lacking “courage” I apologize because I know I’ve done wrong, I’ve hurt people, and I don’t want to continue to wrong others. I feel that you all need to be as critical with everyone as you are with this blog. Because if you all had done this, a lot of these problems wouldn’t even been happening.

I was active here on Tumblr at that time - and, at that time, I was a bit more firmly entrenched in the “SJW” side of Tumblr. That being said, I was never very comfortable with folks with folks who would use “social justice” as an excuse to be hateful or abusive to others. At the same time, I was also afraid to speak openly on that subject - lest I myself become a target, or end up losing my friends who might speaking up on that subject as “colluding with anti-SJWs”.

Full disclosure: I was “feministrocker” at the time. I now go by “blues-sevenfold”, and I make it a point now to keep any discourse stuff off my main blog - hence why I post that stuff here. Throughout the years, I’ve been attacked by both “SJWs” and “anti-SJWs” for expressing that people should not be jerks to other people and that people should just be nice - hence the name of this blog.

Sad as it was, nuanced blogs such as the one I’m currently reblogging had a tendency to garner more support from “anti-SJWs” than “SJWs” - being as it was considerable safer for the former to engage in the discourse, since less was at stake for them.
