...A Few Thoughts for Those Who Can't Sleep -- April 20 Edition

So, fuck. I've decided to add in my academic work, political essays, and Fandom projects for this and OH BOY IS IT A LIST. We'll start with the academic projects.

Academically, my Ukraine paper is my most developed, with a wide range of theoretical approaches to cultural heritage preservation, examining the extent of the damage of the russian invasion both in the temporarily occupied territories, on the front line, and behind the front. As well as highlighting the risks and dangers that any archaeologists in post war Ukraine will have to mitigate that are uniqe to the environment, notably UXO, Landmines and russian interference/assassination risk.

The second paper is more recent, and more of a side project looking at how people writing letters, or their thoughts on paper in the modern times before burning said papers and how that may have connections to ancient rituals and mental health care in our not so distant past. Still very much in the research phase on this paper. On to my political essays.

I separate my political papers from my academic work, in part, because they aren't as serious as my actual work. I do this as a hobby, not a job. I'm not looking to become a political analyst, I just do this because geopolitics, economics, defense economics and the engines that drive our world fascinate me and I love pulling them apart. Yes I am autistic, no I will not apologize.

The first essay here is on how a socialist society might arise, the TLDR on it is, capitalism took 500 years of institution building, socialism will likely take the same, so stop being a revolutionary and build a local soup kitchen.

The second essay is a look into the modern left, why it warps academic tools from useful lenses, to moral cudgels with which to beat their enemies (and often each other) with. This essay also pairs well with the delayed Soviet victory, or how Cold War info ops started by the Soviet Union, and indeed, Putin, have finally started to bear fruit in the Western World. Mostly thanks to the internet and the vast sums of money that went into pushing these ideas. On to fanfic, and oh boy do I have a lot of that.

Yeah... I've got a lot going on. Starting off simple is The Space Between, inspired by things like Un Lun Dun by China Mieville, Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman and Dreams Underfoot by Charles de Lint, as well as my own vivid dreams. Currently on hiatus until I get a new beta for it.

Torn Petals is my make Ruby suffer immensely AU, chapter 13 coming out very very soon (This week soon). Based off my own trauma and the stories of other survivors.

The Starbound Path is a project I'm working on with ManticoreWrites. Its very large, and very very fun. Basically a full rebuild of the RWBY world.

To Be a Schnee is brutal, take Ruby, Yang and Blake. Kill their parents, have Jacques adopt them. Now everyone gets the A+ Parenting of Jacques Schnee. Weeping Silver follows a similar trend, kill Yang, and see what happens as Tai falls apart and Ruby is left all alone growing up. You get a very broken Ruby out of it.

Tales from the Atlanta QZ is a collection of interconnected short stories set in Atlanta in the game version of the Last of Us starting before the outbreak, and ending with the introduction to my own Last of Us fic that will be coming very far in the future.

Oh No Shes Hot. A 5 chapter short story featuring Whiterose getting together with Arkos, specifically Arkos with trans Jaune.

I Was a Teenage Exohuntress is another big idea, take the RWBY characters, put them on a ship, flee remnant and then have them land on Ventruma at the same time as the Stratospheric. Very very complicated fic that I've only just started toying with.

Elerium Effect. Take the end of XCOM 2, extrapolate out to humanity going to the stars with a completely different tech base. The Ethereals were getting ready to fight another enemy, what if that enemy was the Reapers that they somehow escaped.

The next prompt is simple. Make Neo use Summer against Ruby while she tortures her. Yeah, just a real angsty oneshot all hurt no comfort. Whiterose reincarnated oneshot needs no explaining.

The Flight of the HMS Victory will be set during outbreak day in the UK in the TLOU universe, following a private as he evacuates the reaming royals to the HMS Victory to flee the city. Yes that Victory. Is it cheesy? Yeah and thats why I love it.

Frosensteel Mecha AU is basically a lovely mash of Gundam, RWBY, and all the Mecha you can think of. I'm working on it with ManticoreWrites, it will feature AI Penny, stuck in a stasis tank Ruby, and new pilot Weiss.

Holy Jewhate Batman. This is what a gentile gets when they point out left antisemitism, I can't even imagine what Jews get.

If I had a hazard to guess, this is likely the person who I was arguing with in the comments of my abandoning leftism post before they became completely deranged.

This post has been a long time coming for me. Truthfully, it makes me really fucking sad that is necessary, but its clear the broader Left has abandoned the goals, values and ideals I hold for hatred. So I imagine lots of people reading this have many, many questions. I'm going to start with a date.

That date was the start of russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine. The start of a genocidal, imperialist war to conquer a democratic nation, wipe out or assimilate its population and call it peacemaking. The response from the Left at the time, including many within my own efforts to unionize the RA's and TA's at school was... lackluster to say the least. Most didn't care, some had milquetoast "russia shouldn't do that" responses, some like me stepped up, donated to the AFU, thought of volunteering, and listened to our comrades in Eastern and Central European anti-fascist organizations who called on the Left to fight back against russian imperialism.

Worse, was a small, but still noticeably numerous group who aligned with russia. This was a war of "denazification" this was a war against the evils of NATO, this was a war to get rid of the evil, gay, Zionist, Nazi, Satanist, atheist Ukrainians and wipe out their genetically modified super soldiers, mosquito bioweapon labs or whatever bullshit lie russia is telling these days. At the time, I dismissed these groups as small but unimportant groups that were just making noise on the net, yet they worried me, so I started to drift from the Left.

I was wrong. They weren't small, or underfunded groups.

Hamas, under orders from Iran to assist russia (which was currently flagging and attempting to reorganize after disastrous losses in 2022) launched a cross border raid into Israel, with the goal of linking up with the West Bank, and launching a new renewed war in Israel-Palestine. This failed, despite the IDF being woefully unready, and Mossad somehow missing this (there is a joke to be made here about military intelligence, but its in poor taste so I won't go there.). Yet, 1,219 people were killed, many of them peace activists at a music festival. 251 people were abducted, 70 of them being Arab, and a handful of foreign nationals. The majority were Jewish. This is saying nothing of the sexual violence perpetrated in this attack.

What struck me, is this small portion of the Left I discussed earlier turned on Israel on day one. Celebrated the attack, called for more attacks, ignored the sexual violence. I thought that it made sense that the morons would do that.

Then that movement started to grow.

People I called my friends shared footage of Israeli attack helicopters attacking the fence line, stating it was them attacking the music festival, even thought it was clearly nighttime in the footage. Some started to say the sexual violence wasn't actually real, something that deeply bothered me as a survivor myself. Some said that russsia and Iran had NOTHING to do with this, and this was just Palestinians as a whole finally deciding to finish the fight (or perhaps finish the final solution, I know what the Arab league of states put on their declaration of war in 47').

Every time I brought up evidence, facts, primary sources that disproved them they'd dig in. This confused me, I thought we were the side of politics that respected these things, that saw grey areas, that recognized things are more complicated underneath the media.

I was wrong again.

Israel's heavy handed response to the attack has resulted in mass suffering. There have undoubtedly been war crimes committed, there have been violations of international law. Yet somehow despite that as of 14/12/2025 only 70 000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza. This is still a tragedy, it is still wrong. Yet when I brought up that these numbers are low, especially compared to Mariupol where the official death toll is 24 000 with 50 000 people abducted to "reeducation camps" in russia I was told that Gaza is still somehow worse. Note, that from my own counting of graves and mass grave sites on satellite imagery in Mariupol, the true death toll is likely closer to 100 000, potentially higher depending on how many people are in those mass graves.

Mariupol was leveled in 2 months of fighting. Gaza has sustained nearly 3 years at this point. Yet their deathtolls are vastly different. One is a genocide, the other is a very messy, very tragic, very awful urban war. It is easy to see which is which. Yet somehow, despite the facts being evident, the Left continued down the road of rabid Jew hate, continued to become more and more insane, and somehow still had more and more people joining them.

Lets circle to today, the last two days. Noam Chomsky is on Epstein's island with Steve Bannon. Great. Lovely. Fuck him, put him in prison. Nope, the Left rushes to defend him, state that it just be AI (No), states that he must be trying to undermine the right (No), states that maybe he was gathering intel (No). The most likely explanation, is he was there to assault children. Fullstop. Then not a day later, 12 people are killed on Hanukkah in Australia by a Jewhating gunman. The first response I saw today, to this attack, was.

"If Israel didn't exist, this wouldn't have happened, they shouldn't have supported an evil nation."

No empathy, no remorse, and at time of writing, no knowledge that this attack is even connected to Israel in any way. The shooter may have been a White supremacist, it may have been a Leftist, yet in the fog they still say that this attack isn't an atrocity, that because "Israel" it could even be justified. I am appaled, and finally this is the straw thats broken me.

People are dead, lots have died already the Left either not caring or actively going out and committing the acts of violence needed. But following the defense of Chomsky, following more dead in Ukraine that the Left doesn't even care about anymore, following more threats to Canadian sovereignty which especially the American left has responded to by stating "Its not all of us, please come back and give us your tourist dollars we miss you.". Following more dead Jews, the end of USAID and the millions it will kill over the next decade that some have justified (Its ending dependence on the evil American empire hur dur). I'm done, the responses to the attack in Australia are the straw that broke my back. This political faction no longer holds my values.

I'm a humanist, and anti-authoritarian and principled about it. The left seems to have devolved into a bunch of authoritarian, Jewhating shit bags who just want to watch the world burn, damn the people whose lives will be ruined. If you want to find me, I'll be over here, supporting Ukraine, fervently calling for a two-state solution, an end to Hamas and for Trump, Putin, Xi Jinping, Netanyahu, Viktor Orban, Ibrahim Traoré and every other aspiring fascist who craves mastery to face justice at the hands of the international courts, or their own people.

And as for the Left, the attack in Australia is what you called for, "Globalize the intifada" right? Own up to it, celebrate it like I know you want to. It'll make it all the more easier to spot those I need to avoid like the plague when I'm doing real political work.
