Crystal Palace is the character of all time because she spends the whole show telling everyone (but especially Edwin) that they’re sooo weird and annoying. like can you guys PLEASE be normal for just a second, you’re killing me. but at the same time, she’s in NO WAY the sane one there. girl you’re a psychic who made people walk into traffic recreationally. when someone’s being a dick you physically fight them even when you’ve got your acrylics on. you saw enough weird shit that your asshole boyfriend said “im a demon you should totally let me possess you” you were like “this is not only not weird, it is normal and romantic” you are NOT the barometer for regularness

On Monday I finally got the doll I dreamt of for months <3
...and nearly sent her back because Meki 2.0 quality control is apparently nonexistent: the wig doesn't close properly, her left shin is bent and is ~1-2 mm shorter than the right one, and it took me a while to figure out how to make her keep her legs together and not spread apart. I was so upset I didn't want to have anything to do with her anymore. But after properly getting to know how she works I changed my mind.
She's lovely after all, I like her colour scheme and mischievous expression so much 🩵 And she made me get out my sewing box the very same evening to craft her some more bows because I didn't like the one on her hair.
Two new jester dolls I'm giving away through this month's Patreon naming event! 👁
The event is open to all my current and new $6 "Jester Jackpot" supporters, who can suggest up to two names for each doll (four total). Whoever comes up with my favourites will take a doll home!
Ends July 30th, and results will be posted 24hrs later. Tracked international P&P at no extra cost.
I was inspired by lots of cute Polly Pockets from the 80s and 90s for this piece! 💕 I love how each Polly Pocket has a unique world inside it so I drew some dolls exploring other toys and making friends! 😊
Prints are available at kaitlynillustrations.etsy.com 🎀

So I just simultaneously did, and possibly didn't lose my job today :)
Very much did in the sense that I literally do not know where my job is at the moment. But, for the time being I haven't been let go because nobody else including the store owner knows where it is either.
So, I don't wanna risk doxxing myself by posting pictures but goddamn am I tempted because this is not a believable event. This is a cartoon problem. For looneytoons.
But yeah, so, I work(ed?) at a kiosk selling boba tea, right? Freestanding kiosk in the mall with full water and electrical hookups and multiple fridges and sinks and a mini kitchen and the works. Fully functional tea shop. Very important to note that it was there last night, The work chat was discussing another issue last night at closing time. I'll get back to this.
It's been showing signs of being on the way out with how business is being handled lately and I've been considering other options, which is probably why I'm not as torn up about this as I should be, but maybe it just hasn't set in yet, but that's not the point. The point is there's been a lot of shit breaking and not being replaced and nobody mentioning anything about it until I walk into work in the morning and have to figure out why shit like the fucking cash register isn't there today. So I'm kinda used to having to ask questions about big things that nobody bothered to update me on. I was out for two weeks recovering from a surgery, so I came to work this morning assuming there'd be some kind of bullshit, yeah?
So, the question I had to ask the chat this morning was:
Not a text I ever thought I'd have to send in sincerity, but there it is. Because what I found instead was a fenced off patch of discolored tiles and a few holes in the floor where my entire place of employment used to be.
And the answer? Nobody knows! It was there last night when the mall closed, and every single trace of the structure and all its contents including drink making supplies and our safe and cashbox was gone when it opened again. And when I say nobody knows, I mean everyone from last night's closers to the actual (former?) owner of the store jad no fucking clue about this until getting that text from me this morning. For once I am actually the first to know. 🎉.
So. I guess I didn't so much lose my job as had it stolen. Not by AI, but good old fashioned hands-on human beings picking it up and carrying it away somehow. All mall security would tell me was that they were instructed not to tell me anything and have us contact our management. Who also don't know anything. And later on I came across some construction workers around the gravesite of the kiosk discussing filling in the holes, asked them about it, and was told that they "weren't at liberty to say".
So, not only is my job gone in the most literal physical sense of the word, but it was taken in some kind of super secret kiosk extraction in the dead of night without any warning or witnesses and nobody is allowed to speak of it. The store owner said she was gonna figure it out 10 hours ago and still no word back.
I don't know what else to say aside from I've been laughing all day and I'm gonna have a hell of a time explaining Schrodinger's Unemployment to the benefits office.
Update that is not an update because I'm basically certain this isn't what actually happened:
My mother in law thinks the FBI took it.
Not any of the other stores around the state. Just the one little kiosk.
Why? Because she loves a conspiracy and is just a little bit extra.
Also because she was around for the massive crackdown on Yakuza-owned businesses in Waikiki (in her homestate) that did actually involve the FBI seizing stores (no confirmation of making kiosks cleanly disappear in the middle of the night though).
Still no word from my job on what's actually going on, but the most likely theory so far is that maybe the kiosk was on lease and got repossessed? The mystery continues
(also shout out to the person who proposed Carmen Sandiego)
According to the owner, based on what she's been able to find out, the kiosk was not removed legally and they're starting a potentially long process of legal action. I hope she gets to sue the shit out of whoever did it but for now at least I know for sure I'm unemployed.
Really hoping for more details in terms of who/why/how, so I'll keep updating if I learn anything.
For now the summary is: An unnamed entity that is most likely mall management (on account of mall security cooperating with them) stole an entire kiosk and all the contents including money and machinery with barely a trace in the middle of the night grinch-style, with zero warning or explanation, and ensured the silence of both security and the construction crew, in an action that was definitely preplanned and illegal, and as far as I know nobody knows its whereabouts.
So now I'm officially out of a job. Because my workplace was literally stolen in the night.
Actually fuck it let's share some photos cause I wouldn't be inclined to believe this myself. It's not like anyone can stalk me at my job now and I'm not gonna have to see any coworkers that might find my tumblr.
Enjoy the unintentionally funniest text I've ever sent in my life

The Witching Hour by WKGF is atrocious, do NOT recommend
Recently I picked up The Witching Hour. The episodes are long, 40-60+ minutes, which is perfect for me to listen to at work, and I liked it in the ways of production - the VAs know their job and managed to hook me in.
So I liked the 1st season overall. The stories were mostly interesting, the format nice and cozy, and the acting good.
There's only one huge problem though.
SPOILERS AHEAD. TW: misogyny, murder, sexual assault and rape mentions.
The show starts with a story about a serial killer who only kills men in an inhuman fashion, literally ripping them in halves. A woman who has last seen two latest victims is being questioned as a witness by a radio host, after she's already been questioned by the police.
She tells that two men who got killed were harassing her on the train or a bus, I don't remember. She told them to leave her alone repeatedly but they never listened and followed her when she exited at her stop. Honestly to me this sounds like a scarier horror story than a mythical killer ripping people in halves, so I was hooked. I appreciated that the show highlighted the issue of sexual harassment - considering it's set in 1989 and is written by a man, I didn't expect that and was pleasantly surprised.
Only to then be faced with the reveal that the supernatural killer was that woman all along. For some reason she took a liking to the show host and decided not to kill him after taunting with this for a bit (when her whole M.O. was killing men who were harassing women, by her own words, so none of this makes sense aside from "my MC is SOOOO special") and disappeared from the station. Then it was revealed she left a trace of dead bodies on her way to the pier and wanished - to reappear years later in England, be outed by a listener because she kept killing men who can't fathom being told "no", found out it was because of the radio show, called to the show, killed the person who decides whether to let the caller through (and the host's friend-colleague) to drive the point home that she does NOT want to be found... and cosplayed Elementary's Moriarty, roping the MC host into a "game" where HE has to find her but other people can't, she threatened to kill them.
The first part, before the comeback, was problematic enough, but since it was only one episode, I thought "weird" but mostly enjoyed the later ones. The comeback in the season finale was... a very bad move, but I kept hoping there was going to be more depth, more complexity, like maybe the MC was going to realize WHY she's doing what she's doing, and started season 2.
BOY did it get worse.
For starters, the mood went to sopping sad (from curiosity and excitement of s1) and "serious" that fees kinda awkward and forced. And the whole premise with the new quest of finding the killer lady and the events of her first meeting with the host are being repeated every episode - thanks, I have memory issues but thankfully they are not THAT bad and I don't think other listeners have it worse, so listening to ~5 minutes of rehashing every time is boring at best.
That was just the direction issues. The Quest and the dead colleague-friend became the main storyline now. I was still hopeful. The latest episode - "November 10, 1989 - Gone Fishin" has made the decision to drop it for me, though. I've listened to 1/3 of it or slightly less and am not going to finish it. For me to drop an episode of a show I'm already invested in midway is EXTREMELY rare. I think I did this only with Malevolent s5 when my patience has finally run out, and with Hi Nay because there was cannibalism which is a huge TW for me.
Firstly, the episode began with the host being told how magnificent and important his show is, which... I understand there are two perspectives, an in-world and an out-world ones, but I'm not immersed enough to forget this is a made up story, so the whole praise and support the host gets feels like self-jerkung, which is... ew. I had enough of it in Malevolent. For decades to come.
And the main course. The Quest. The show has cemented that it's going to present the killer woman as The Big Bad Evil. In this episode, a wife of one of those two men whose murder was the very start of the show, called to the show and was telling how that lady was The Evil. It's repeated multiple times not just through the show but throughout that 1/3 of an episode that "she needs to be put down" both by the wife and the host.
I want to remind you that the murdered man was harassing a woman in transport and followed her home despite her protests, with another man. They were going to rape her.
The line that cemented the course the podcast is going was something along the "There's real evil in a human form, not just some killer or rapist, but an ACTUAL EVIL that is not human".
"Not just some rapist".
I have so many assumptions about why this storyline is written like this by a man. I really don't like these assumptions. I'm certainly not listening any further. I feel a bit sick, actually, and hope the podcast plummets.
So, as you might have guessed by now, I can't stress enough how much I DO NOT recommend this show. It's trash, even if it had a few good episodes in its first season.

I have a few things lined up for TDoV today but here’s this years painting.
This time around I’ve done an 80’s au version, I know i do these ‘in the mirror’ images a lot, it’s just very close to my heart. I spent so many years looking in the mirror and not recognizing who I saw looking back at me, probably since i was about 13, until sometime in my mid 30s. It’s a really weird and uncomfortable feeling. I like to draw Carrie seeing the person she’ll become when she can one day, when she’s safe and able to live freely. Until then, Caro exists inside her, cheering her on. And one fine day, Caro will wake up and look in the mirror and go, oh! There you are. I’ve been dreaming of you my entire life. ✨
Love you, stay safe, i know things suck right now. But we’re gonna to make it, hand in hand ok?
