XLXV. Blink 182 - So Cal Pop Punk Legends
- Probably the most requested entry. It’s Skacred 101 that Travis Barker played drums for The Aquabats! before joining Blink 182. His drumming can be heard on their 2nd record, “the fury of...”
XLXIV. Wolf-Face - Florida Teen Wolves - All of Wolf-Face’s music videos have been filmed, edited, and directed by Christian Costello of such ska bands as Station Cases, The Sellouts of Ska, Mind the Canvas, and Won’t Be Arsed. If that wasn’t enough evidence, at a 2015 performance, members of Wolf-Face looked me with their beady little wolf-eyes and started playing ska chords mid song. I don’t know what it meant, but it hurt.
XLXIII. Compassion Co - Vegan Apparel
- Prior to being a nomadic t-shirt pusher, Andy Tabar was the vocalist for bands such as The Flaming Tsunamis and Fatter than Albert. In the early days of TFT, Andy also played alto sax.
Go vegan.
XLXII. Moustache Brewery - Long Island Brewery
- Matt Spitz, bassist of Royal City Riot is the owner of Moustache Brewery out in Long Island, New York.

XLXI. Our Mutual Friend Brewery - Rocky Mountain Micro Brew
- Bryan Leavelle, former bassist of A Billion Ernies and Sons of Odin, is the co-owner of OMF brewery. His brother, Ryan, works there as well.
Cheers.
XLX. Donovan Wolfington - NOLA Noise-gaze
- DW are on Community Records - a label that began as a predominantly ska record label. They’ve also played shows with bands like Stuck Lucky, Station Cases, and many other ska crossover acts. Neil used to drum for the ska band named Johnny Steeltoe and the Puppy Kickers.
Thanks to Aaron Hibbert for the edit.
XLVIV. The Bouncing Souls - New Jersey’s True Believers
- The Bouncing Souls have toured AND collaborated with The Pietasters, had members (Mike McDermott) perform in Mephiskapheles, not to mention they stuck out like a sore thumb on Radical Records’ Skampilation ‘94 Thanks to Kara Harvey for the tips
XLVIII. Counterpunch - Defenders of Skate Punk
- Before committing to Counterpunch full-time, Jim Margle played drums for the Michigan ska band We Are The Union. If that’s not enough, they just had a tour with the Boston ska legends Big D and the Kids Table.
Despite being best known nowadays for his upcoming role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Oscar Isaac actually got his start in the entertainment industry more on the music side of things. He was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday, and he told Kimmel that he was in a variety of ska bands in south Florida in the 90s. He rattled off a few of the band names, and we're surprised at the lack of ska-based puns, which ska bands seem to love doing. His former groups include Petrified Frogs, Closet Heterosexuals, The Worms, and Blinking Underdogs. In the video above, you can see a younger Isaac wearing an undershirt and playing bass for The Worms on May 29, 1996, at Ray's Downtown Blues in West Palm Beach, Florida. He saw more success with Blinking Underdogs, though, as that band actually "opened" for The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, arguably the most popular ska band of the '80s and '90s. "Opened" is the word Isaac used with Kimmel, but he clarified that to mean that they played on the same

XLVI. Against Me!
- Andrew, AM!’s former bassist, mentioned in The Menzingers SOUNDOFF video from Noisey that he used to be in a ska band called The Peeps.
XLV. Direct Hit!
- The next Direct Hit record will feature the horn section of the ska band Something to Do on a few of their tracks.
XLIV. Four Year Strong - during live performances, John Ryan (Nix86, We Are the Union, The Flaming Tsunamis) plays sax on some of their older songs.
XLIII. Killswitch Engage - While performing for their legions of fans at Monsters of Rock, Jesse Leach wore a shirt from the legendary and highly influential ska band Fishbone.
XLII. PEARS - the band
- The hardcore punk rockers just got signed to Fat Wreck Chords because of their current touring schedule, fabulous record, and rapid success at reaching audiences (much to the dismay of Ben Weasel.) Prior to being the punk icons from the bayou, these boys started out with humble roots in ska bands. Zack briefly played guitar for Joystick, Dante, their tour manager, played drums for Joystick, Brian played guitar for Dead Legends, and their old band The Lollies played alongside Fatter Than Albert frequently.
Congrats on the success, boys. You’re now on the same label that put out records for Less Than Jake.

XLI. RiFF RAFF
- In the summer of 2015, RiFF RAFF (The neon icon, the white Gucci Mane with a spray tan, the white Eddie Murphy, the white Donald Glover, rap game Uncle Ben [pull the rice out the oven]) will be releasing a new album featuring Travis Barker of The Aquabats.
XL. Weak Teeth - The jury is out on these Hardcore Emo rockers. Tell your moms, tell your dads that at least one member of WT openly listens to southern California’s favorite crime-fighting ska band turned kid’s show rockstars, The Aquabats. Their ska influence is probably what makes their new record super rad. Aside from bumping The Bats in their van, WT performed a Choking Victim cover set at Fest 13 in Gainesville, Fl.
