“-- can you say lesbian rights? i will say that. you see, uh, back in highschool when i didn’t have a huge ego, a lesbian referred to me as “actually pretty funny” and my ego’s been coasting ever since. so they’re alright with me, alright? basically i’ll die for them. you know men and compliments, they don’t ever recieve them, so. you get like, your one compliment a year, so i’ve been coasting off that ever since. “actually funny”. that’s my channel description, “actually funny”, let’s go. no one else has called me actually funny, so everyone else, no rights for you. no rights for everyone else.” 

they both feel betrayed by the other, even though they don't quite see themselves as traitors. they hurt each other time and time again and they might be sorry for the pain they've caused, but they don't — can't — regret who they are. in the end, that's the real problem: those core beliefs are what tear them apart, beliefs that define their characters just as much as their names. they see each other in themselves like a broken mirror, there, but just out of reach.

they idealize one another and still condemn this same action. they are forever undone by the farse they build for just one more hour, for just one more day, for just one more moment together. they pretend they fight for the same cause, they pretend so much so that they believe their own lies and accuse the other of deceit, a type of hope so strong it becomes delusional, inherently selfish. they ignore the glaring signs and lie again and again. and yet.
