Papa! Uh, there's something I kinda gotta show you, promise you won't be mad??
I don't know if I can make that promise, kid. What did you want to show me?
*I give you a sheepish grin as I pull up the left sleeve of my shirt, revealing a fresh tattoo of my alien cat Bobby on my forearm*
Surprise..? Please don't be upset with me, or Siz, she's the one who gave me the tattoo in the first place. She did lots of research and did it safely, so it won't get infected...Probably at least.
Most likely won’t get infected
*I appear out of nowhere*
the research I did said that if someone were to get infected by the ink it would be because of smth rare, very rare, so it will most likely not get infected
new drawing :)
what do u guys think @goosiegurlie nd @jazzlovestea-andtrinkets?
If the Grammar sucks i ask that you please ignore it, im no writer.. im deaf and im tired.
CW: violence, choking, gun, blood.. just straight angst <3
Court storms out of the med-bay as soon as he's convinced (what little convincing it took) to go out and look for Driver. It was just an undelivered text message, that wouldn't look out of the ordinary for a normal person...but they weren't normal people. They have too many ghosts chasing them, and Court's worrying in particular about the ones that want his head the most. If they'd found any whiff of his existence near Driver, they would have acted. If Lloyd Hanson wasn't worm food he'd have been even more worried about him being near Driver, but Court had watched his funeral from afar and the corpse was real.
30 miles...30 miles isn't that specific. Court's going to be looking for awhile, he knows this, and that knowledge is gnawing at his neck like a leech with knives for teeth.
God, please don't let it be too late.
Driver’s breathing was starting to slow down, his body curled in on itself. He was still unconscious as the rain pattered over his form, his blood mixing with the puddles of water
His phone had been destroyed when Carmichael slammed him to the ground and if that wasn’t enough damage it was now laying in a puddle of his own blood
There wasn’t much light illuminating the alley way, there was only a neon sign that pointed towards the parking lot
Driver was gonna die soon.. he should really wake up, but he can’t.. his eyes are too heavy and the memories are too nice
He almost misses the neon sign, but he whips the car around in the rain so hard that the tires squeal for mercy before he can really think too much about it. If whoever had done this (It was Denny and Suzanne he knows it he KNOWS) was nearby they would've heard him, but he has enough ammo to put up a fight if need be...he just hopes it won't come to that. The car's headlights spill down the alley...and over Driver lying curled in on himself, motionless, in a puddle. The puddle is too dark to be rain and his jacket's too dark to just be damp, and Court swears under his breath as he climbs out of the car and skids to his knees to reach him faster with no regard for how his knees are now bruised.
Hey, no no no. Come on, let me see those eyes...
He's careful as he unzips Driver's jacket to assess the wound, but his fingers slip in the blood and graze over the gunshot wound and Court freezes. He'd been hoping it wasn't more serious than a stab wound, but the heat-cauterized edges and scorch marks on white satin tell him that not only was Driver shot...but he was shot point blank. The gun was all but pressed to his skin, this was personal. Court kneels and braces his hands under Driver's shoulder's and knees, carefully picking him up. Was moving him smart? Probably not, but every minute they spent out in the open was another minute they were both at risk and he was already hurrying back to his borrowed car. He'd worry about blood on the seats later when they were both safe.
Driver groans when he gets pick up, his face pinches in pain.. a physical reaction, not one that driver was aware of doing
The blood was everywhere’s he was bleeding from the gunshot wound and the back of his head, he was pale from the amount of blood that he’d lost
When he gets put down in the car he gets one last surge of adrenaline and pushes at the mans chest, barely any strength in the shove. his voice hoarse and weak as he spoke
“Don’t hurt him.. he’s got family to take care of.. they need him”
His eyes aren’t open when he speaks, he thinks he’s talking to Carmichael, and he’s out again after he speaks, hand dropping from court’s chest and his head lolled to the side
"Fuck fuck fuck. Hey, I'm right here. Not going anywhere, nobody hurt me," Court whispers and brushes Driver's hair away from his forehead, and he bundles the man all but into his lap as he whips the car away from the curb with another sickening screech--if he'd tried that in Driver's car he suspects the man would've woken up just to hit him, he would've deserved it. He would've welcomed it, actually. If there are eyes on the rooftops Court isn't paying attention to them, his attention is being divided between not wrapping the car around a pole and making sure Driver doesn't die in his arms.
Options are...limited. Hospital was probably the best place Driver could be right now, but did Court want to risk it right now? Absolutely not. He didn't trust a single soul anywhere in the vicinity with Driver right now, not if no one had bothered calling the police when they heard the gunshot. He'd patched up bullet wounds on himself countless times, fished the bullets out with his fingers too. He can do this, but it's going to hurt. Badly. Court grimaces before he apologizes, and he digs his knuckles into Driver's sternum to wake him--He knows a sternal rub hurts like hell, but it might bring him around for a few minutes, at least until they get somewhere safe.
Safe. The biodome. Not how he wants any of them to meet Driver, but it might be his best bet at survival. God, if only he's fast enough. "You with me, pretty boy..?"
He whines out an “owww” after court rubs his knuckles against his sternum, his eyes cracking open slightly as he tries to make sense of his surroundings
“Court…? What’s going on?”
He tries to move but a sharp pain is his head and torso stops him, he has no memory of what happened.. the last thing he remembers is being at the animal shelter
His throat hurts too, he moves his hands to his neck and winces as he presses against the handprinted bruise, and when he pulls his hand away, he sees that it’s covered in blood his eyes widen in fear
“Is this mine? Or yours?”
It hurts to talk. Whats going on.. he’s starting to feel dizzy.. definitely his blood then.. but how did this happen? Did he let his guard down for the wrong person?
“I don’t feel good..”
"Don't- Don't move, your only job is staying conscious right now. Blood's yours, I have an idea what happened but I can't confirm until you're safe."
Court's attention drifts down to Driver as he blows through a red light without a care in the world, but he can feel the weary scowl from his lap and decides to take it a little easier. On the car, at least.
"...Remember the other day, when I told you people were after me? It's- It's not Court they're after. They're after Sierra Six...and you got too close to me."
He explains the absolute bare minimum as they pause at the next stop light, and he's already fidgeting and looking away by the time he's done explaining what he can; Driver's going to want out after this, and Court isn't going to blame him or beg. Six doesn't deserve this man, as much as he wants this budding thing they have he can't risk putting Driver in danger again.
“Hey…”
He speaks softly, but when court doesn’t look at him he lifts a hand up to the mans face, gently touching his cheek
“Look at me court..”
He tries to swallow the pain in his throat, but it doesn’t help much, instead he opts to run his his fingers over court’s stubble as he processes what court said
“I came into this knowing people were after you.. just like you did with me.. it was bound to happen to one of us eventually.. i didn’t expect it so soon though”
He chuckles before wincing, his own joke was pretty stupid and definitely not the right time considering he was actively dying in the arms of the only person who was willing to put any effort into loving him
“You found me.. thats all that matters.. and if you didn’t.. well at least i got to meet you yeah?”
The fingers on his skin are cooler than he would have liked, but Court's glad for them either way as they graze along his jaw. Means Driver's still alive enough to move, and that's still salvageable...he hopes.
"Don't talk like that, okay? I'm not letting anything happen to you, but I'd understand if you wanted me to lose your number after...this."
This is the last stop sign before his place and he takes a beat to look down at Driver going paler and paler in his arms, and he swallows hard around an ache in his throat before things start happening very quickly; He pulls into his drive, all but sprints to the front door with Driver in his arms and his heart in his throat, and by the time Court can think again he's got Driver lying in his bed shirtless on a towel, with an array of tools at his side. Somewhere, distantly, he makes a note to get Driver's car for him as soon as he's fixed up and resting.
"This is gonna be worse than the stab wound, just so you know. And I need you to stay as awake as you can. Think you can handle that?"
“Court.. if you go ghost on me i will personally hunt you down myself, do not delete my number.”
Driver watches the man as he drives, his eyes beginning to droop again, the adrenaline from his sternum being rubbed has worn off
“Besides… my parents were worse, at least you care about me.”
He groans and grumbles as court moves him around, the pain is ridiculously intense, he’s never experienced this level of pain before, sure he’s been in fights, cut by glass from climbing through windows as a kid or even stabbed, but none of it compares to this
“Mm.. i dunno I’m tired court… i wanna rest a little longer.. five more minutes yah?”
Driver was half daydreaming again, his mind trying to make up a happy scenario to cope with the pain.. and of course he daydreams about waking up with court
"I won't, okay? Promise. I think you'd give me a run for my money anyway, you're quicker than me. And your parents don't know what they're missing out on, their loss."
He's rambling now, trying to keep Driver talking so he doesn't slip under while Court's trying to disinfect the gunshot--and he notices with some distress that the bullet is still in there. The bottle of vodka in his hand tips over the wound and he winces in sympathy as he pins Driver down with his other arm, even though the other man isn't squirming as much as he should be.
"No naps right now pretty boy, alright? I'm just gonna keep annoying you and talking to you until I'm done, I'm an asshole like that and you can't sleep with pieces of bullet in you."
He's not surprised his hands aren't shaking, he was worried they would be but...no. Training took over where a panic rabbit was chasing his senses in circles and he carefully, so incredibly carefully, started trying to get the fragments of metal out with tweezers. It was going to hurt no matter what he did, but he didn't have to make it miserable.
He groans frustratedly because court told him he couldn’t rest, but whatever he’ll listen to the man talk, that was nice too. He moved his hand to court’s face and he squishes the man’s cheeks, having zero regard that he’s actively trying to pull a bullet out of him
“You’re so cute.. you’re not an asshole stop disrespecting yourself”
He moves his hand to ruffle the top of his head before letting it drop back to his side as he stares and the ceiling, and it’s now that he realizes that this is the second time court has seen the inside of his body and they’ve yet to put a label on things… besides calling it a relationship
“Y’know… you’ve seen what my insides look like twice now and all we’ve done is hold hands and kiss a little”
He suddenly winces in pain and he looks down at court
“Ow! Stop that”
He begins to try and push the mans hands away from his body
Court sits there and takes Driver's ruffling and face-squishing silently, careful not to let his movements jostle the tweezers out of their path. A soft 'tink' is heard when a fragment drops into the ceramic bowl full of alcohol Court has by his knee. If he keeps squirming- The tweezers poke hard and Court winces, dodging the grabbing hands before he just pins them by the wrist with one of his own.
"Hey, hands to yourself until I get your souvenir out. I'm not trying to hurt you but I need you to be still and trust me, do you think you can manage that for a few minutes?"
He huffs a breath and leans forward to kiss the uninjured side of Driver's head and he lingers, shifting to rest his forehead on a sharp cheekbone before he pulls back.
"As for seeing what your insides look like I'm inclined to agree, you really need a better way to get my attention that doesn't need stitches. Or you bleeding out in my arms...especially the second part."
Driver tries to move his hands again to cover the wound from court, tears pricking at his eyes from the pain and he’s very weakly trying to wriggle his wrist free
“No it hurts! Im done.. i wanna sleep now”
He can’t help but smile softly when he feels the man’s lips on his head, leaning in to the kiss without putting pressure against the gash on the back of his head
“My head hurts too… and my throat.. hurts to speak”
He watches as court pulls away from him, struggling to make sense of what courts saying.. his brows pinched with focus
“Mm not doing this intentionally.. if i wanted your attention id do something normal.. like sending nudes”
He begins to squirm again when he sees court pick up the tweezers, due to the blood loss he was easily agitated, not that he could actually fight off the man.. he was too weak
It's a little difficult to pick the metal chunks out without having both hands, but Court sacrifices one to hold Driver's steady on the mattress so he's less inclined to squirm.
"I know it hurts, but you have to let me do this or it's gonna get infected. And an infection here will kill you, but you're not allowed to die before me so that's not gonna fly. I'm almost done, I promise. You can sleep after I get you wrapped up."
Thankfully the last fragments come out without a hitch and he's quick to sew Driver up again, but he jerks in surprise at the nudes comment and nearly drops the needle with the force of the exhausted laugh it startles out of him. He can't see more blood anywhere, that's good, but he still has to get the gash on the back of Driver's head and that one's gonna be...difficult. Heart thudding, he helps him sit up and all but crowds in behind him to keep him upright, and he gently tips Driver's head forward so he can work while his thighs bracket narrow hips in an attempt to keep them steady.
"I know you're not doing it intentionally, I'd prefer the nudes to stitching you up again...and I'm gonna find those two. I let them live last time and that was a mistake I won't repeat."
Driver smiles at the warmth when court moves to sit behind him, at least he was done with that injury, but he wasn’t free to relax just yet.. he blinks back the exhaustion and he lets his cold, clammy hands rest on the legs holding him still
“Are you gonna clean the dried blood off of me after this..?”
He looks down at his hands, the blood on them now flakey and dry.. he moves his hands to his own lap and he starts picking at the flakes
“I would prefer that too… the nudes i mean.. im tired of being a burden for you”
He laughs softly, he wasn’t wrong though.. driver hasn’t taken care of court once.. it’s been court fixing up driver and saving his life.. maybe court deserved someone who was better at holding their ground… at least then he wouldn’t be so stressed by his brothers, their children and his… something all at the same time
He moves his hands to his neck and he swallows, the pain still there but not as strong as it was before.. when he pushes against the bruise he flinches at the unexpected pain
“Wow they really marked me good hm?”
Everything is stitched neatly and bandaged before Court finally lets himself take a breath, and he shakes with the loss of adrenaline as he wraps his arms around Driver carefully and rests his forehead on one of the few un-bruised spots on his shoulder. He's basically holding Driver upright at this point and he knows it, but he doesn't mind. He's warmish and alive in his arms, that's enough.
"I'll clean you up in a minute, gotta clean me up too but I can wait. More worried about you than me...and you're not a burden. Don't even think that, okay? You're not. If I didn't want to take care of you myself, I could've dropped you off at the med bay. You didn't sign up for this Driver, I'm..."
'I'm sorry' gets muffled on the way out and he frowns, pressing his cheek against the handprint bruise that he's certain belongs to Denny Carmichael as if his touch can banish it from Driver's skin. It doesn't work, and Court looks visibly irritated before he carefully readjusts them until Driver's cradled in his arms again so he can carry the man into the bathroom.
"Gonna set you up on the counter and wipe you off, I'd run a bath but ah...too many recently-open wounds for that. I can get you some of my stuff to sleep in but it's gonna be big-"
A flurry of movement outside the covered bathroom window catches his eye but Court doesn't respond to the obvious lure, instead focusing on the task at hand. If Denny and Suzanne wanted to draw him out with a decoy, they were gonna have to try harder.
Driver hums contently as he feels court’s warm arms around his body, he leans against the man and he lets his eyes close for a moment, taking the time to appreciate that he’s still alive
“Before i met you the idea of dying didn’t sound so bad..”
Driver’s face scrunches up, a reaction to the dull pain he feels when court presses his face against the bruise’s on his neck. He leans away slightly to ease the pressure
“If these were marks you made id be more proud of them.. and they wouldn’t hurt so bad if they belonged to you”
Driver wraps his arms around court’s neck when he picks him up and begins to carry him to the bathroom, he snuggles his face against the warmth of court’s chest
“And i am a burden… I’ve done nothing but almost die and stress you out.. you deserve someone… stronger than that.. and i know i said i can handle myself but clearly i cant.”
When court puts him on the counter driver quickly moves his hands to the bottom of the mans shirt, gently tugging on it before slipping his hands underneath the fabric and pressing it against the skin of his stomach
“Let me wash you.. you’ve done so much for me and.. i don’t know how else to show you that i really appreciate it.. as for your clothes, ill happily wear them again”
Court flushed red at the comment about the bruises and distantly wondered what it would look like if it was his hand bruised there, but that thought was gone before he could grasp more than the image of Driver with one of Court's hands resting on his throat- Ahem. Anyway. He shakes his head and frowns down at Driver curled against him on the counter, running soothing hands up his back as he stands there motionless.
"You. Are not. A burden. I saved you the first time because I wanted to, you didn't coerce me or force me and you sure didn't order me. And this time...I just felt like something was wrong. I don't 'deserve better' either, thank you very much. I have you."
He's careful when he leans in for a kiss so he doesn't touch anything sore and he sighs into Driver's mouth softly, though his focus is partly on the window where he just...saw a phone screen flick on and off. Yep. Idiots. He has a little time to enjoy himself before things go sideways, as they always do, and he fully intends to. Before he pulls away fully, Court leans in like he's pressing a kiss to the bruise on his throat and whispers quietly into Driver's ear instead--the ones watching outside wouldn't be able to tell what he was doing from this angle.
"They're outside. I'm gonna have to take care of it but we have time before they start calling for backup. They're not stupid enough to jump me by themselves, they know they'd be dead before they hit the floor. When I kill the lights in a few minutes, hide. I'm not risking you getting hurt again."
“Thank you”
He says softly before court kisses him, he smiles into the kiss, the reassurance was definitely helping with his overthinking, he wraps his arms around court’s torso but he doesn’t get the chance to deepen the kiss before court is already pulling away
He chases after the man’s lips but when he sees him leaning down to kiss his neck he tilts his head to the side to give him easier access and waits for the kiss, which he doesn’t receive
He opens his eyes when he hears court starting to speak, his arms tightening around the court’s torso as he starts to explain the situation to driver
“Wait.. what if you get hurt”
He whispers back, he wants to pull away, to look at him and tell him not to put himself in any danger, but driver knows that following court’s lead will be safer
“How will i know its safe? Shouldn’t i help you…?”
He kisses the side of court’s face, not having to move much to do so, his heart was racing with anxiety… this must be how court felt when he found driver
Taking the help would be smarter. He knows it would. Court isn't *stupid...*but something in his chest clenches painfully when it skirts too close to the worst-case scenario--that being both of them dead, and anyone in the nearby vicinity at risk of the same fate. When it had just been him, Court wouldn't have been so worried about dying.
"You'll know it's me, and if you get a swing in I'll survive I think. Just try not to shoot me, there's weapons all over the house so if you think you can help without getting hurt more..."
Court nods and leans into the kisses and there's another blink at the window, he makes a face at it...and then there's the soft click of a lock being opened on a window.
"Don't panic yet, you can do that later. Trust me, pretty boy."
A few taps on his phone and the entire house goes dark immediately, Court silently sets Driver down on his feet and there's a bang in another room of someone tripping over something...and then the house seems to explode around them with activity.
Court's hands shoot out on reflex and he grabs someone in the hall, they squirm and kick at him as he slams their skull against the wall and he grunts as the mercenary drops like a sack of flour. The next one is the same, and the next, but the fourth is a little smarter and darts around him with a knife in hand and starts slashing at him before he can catch up, shallow cuts that serve more to annoy him than anything else, but it's distraction enough for someone to grab him in the kitchen and dig the muzzle of a gun into the back of his skull.
"Easy Six, you wanna get that boy-toy of yours hurt again?" Carmichael sneers and jams the gun forward hard enough to imprint the muzzle into his skin as a bruise. "You really thought you'd get away from us that easy? You could just...what, gallivant off into the sunset with him and Fitzroy's niece and live happily ever after? Sierras don't get happily ever afters, Six. Especially not you."
Driver blinks slowly and he nods, court is right. If he gets stressed out now he’ll be of no use for court and probably end up getting hurt again, which neither of them want
“Okay i trust you.. just give me a signal if you need me handsome”
When the house goes dark he instinctively holds court tighter before letting go when his feet touch the ground. Its not long after court leaves him that he hears crashing noises outside of the bathroom
Driver has never been to courts house before, so he was at a disadvantage with the other agents trying to attack them, he keeps himself pressed against a wall and he moves slowly to try and not alert anyone
When he feels a body press against his, he knows immediately it’s not court and he grabs the back of the person’s head, moving out of the way so he can slam their head against the wall. When they fall against the ground they let out a groan.. which tells driver they’re still awake, he quickly kicks at the person repeatedly before deeming it safe to move on
He grabs the gun off of the unconscious agent before be moves back to the wall, driver doesn’t use guns unless it’s absolutely necessary and the only other time he’s used one was when people were trying to kill him for the money that was stolen
Before he makes it to the hiding spot that court had told him to go to, the house became eerily quiet, but that could mean court had handled everyone.. he needs to listen to court and wait for him to come find him.. or give him some sort of alert that he needed driver
With this in mind, he holds the gun close and he hides in the spot, waiting for the next steps.. heart racing with anxiety as he tries not to think of the worst outcomes
He hears the thudding from the other room and silently hopes that was not Driver's skull connecting with the wall, but he doesn't really have time to wonder about it when Denny's pistol digs in hard enough for blood to run down his neck. Ow.
"Coulda saved yourself a lot of time coming out here Carmichael, you know how this is gonna end," Court says evenly, calmly, as if he's not standing stock-still in his own kitchen with a gun to his head and an injured man hiding somewhere in his house. God, he hopes Driver's hiding. "Flattered as I am that you somehow managed to track me all the way out here, it was a waste of time. I'm not going back and you're not going to kill me."
He takes advantage of the pitch black and grabs at his phone again, reluctantly glad he'd let the Eridians put in automatic lights as the kitchen flared to blinding brightness and Denny stumbled away from him in surprise. That stumble, unfortunately, unbalanced Court and gave his attacker the chance to get an arm around his throat and the gun against his temple. This was going...badly.
"How about you shut your fucking mouth, Six? You lose, and I am going to bury both of you. He didn't have to be included, but you know how it is," A crack sounds through the house and Court swears, dazed, as the butt of the gun whips against his head again and again as he drops to his knees. All the running himself ragged was starting to catch up, at the worst time. "No loose ends."
The lights turning on so suddenly was a sign enough for driver, good or bad he was coming out of hiding now, he emerges from his hiding place with the gun held high
There were random men all over the floor, and the woman from earlier.. which looks like he was able to get his revenge with her.. she looked.. messy to say the least
Driver follows the voices until he’s hiding around the corner of the kitchen, trying to figure out how he’s going to safely get the gun away from Carmichael
He quickly turns the corner and he grabs the gun in Carmichael’s hand, pointing it at the ceiling as a fire rings out.. sorry court, hope that’s an easy fix.. better than your head though
Carmichael quickly jams his elbow into the injury he gave driver earlier that night and driver drops the gun he was holding, stumbling back and clutching his side
“Look who decided to join us six, so heroic saving his beloved court” he mocks before quickly moving so that the gun is pointed at driver “how about i aim for the head this time? Would you still call him a pretty boy with a bullet between his eyes?”
Dammit- He's dazed and there are stars dancing in the black at the edge of his vision, but Court reigns his focus in as best he can and reaches for a cookie jar of all things--which for some reason contained a gun. He really hadn't been kidding about there being guns hidden all over the house, even if that particular trick hadn't originally been his.
As mildly entertaining as the one-liners and banter had been before his brain felt like it was going to start leaking out his ears, Court had had enough of this. Enough of people threatening him, and Driver, hurting them both--he had had exactly as much of that as he could stand for one night. Without a sound he sought out Driver's eyes, catching them and tilting his head to the side to try and get him to do the same. Carefully, slowly, so Denny wouldn't think anything of it...at least, in the two seconds he had left to think about anything.
When Driver's head tilted out of his line of fire...well, Denny's head explodes. At least it looks that way with how much mess the bullet flying in through an eye and out the back of his skull makes, spattering the wall of Court's kitchen with blood and bone fragments and a disgusting pinkish-grey sludge that he knows is going to be awful to clean up. Court kicks the gun out Denny's hand and pulls Driver away from the mess carefully, breathing into the top of his head and clinging to him as tight as he can without hurting him more. After a minute he sighs, laughing under his breath in an exhausted way as they sway together in the kitchen.
"...Hey, can our next date be less exciting? I'm thinking a bad movie and pizza.."
Driver feels like he can finally breathe again when court is back in his arms, he holds onto the man tightly as he breathes him in
“Oh thank god.. i was so worried id get you killed”
He pulls his head away from court’s chest, moving to kiss him instead and he makes sure there’s some extra effort in this kiss, it’s not just a peck.. there’s some tongue involved as well
“Anything is better than seeing a gun pressed to your head. Pizza and terrible movies sounds great”
He puts his hands on either sides of his face, feeling the warm blood on the back of the mans neck, its fresh.
“Oh fuck you’re bleeding.”
He quickly tilts court’s head to try and get a better look at it before dragging the man to the bathroom by his bicep
“We had to clean up anyways right.. do you think that’ll need stitches?”
Court blinks the stars away when Driver pulls back and he nods dumbly at the comment about blood, wincing a little when Driver's fingers brush it.
"Denny used my head like a punching bag for his gun...that didn't make sense. My head hurts."
He frowns and shakes his head, but the throbbing gets worse and he decides to follow where he's being pulled without any more protests. They were safe, his house is full of corpses that need to be removed...and he'd killed somebody right in front of Driver. Who was now trying to clean the bleeding gash up the back of his head from Denny's gun, despite bleeding from the popped stitches Denny had given him earlier--Good riddance, Carmichael--rather than resting.
"Probably won't need stitches, I'm gonna have an awful headache by tomorrow though...both of us are,"
Court hums softly and fishes the first aid kit from where it had fallen in the scuffle earlier, but before Driver can even get close enough to work Court pulls him in for another kiss. It's softer than the one Driver had given and he rests a hand on his hip, squeezing gently.
"I've been hurt worse, I'm okay. I promise. It's gonna take more than that to get rid of me."
Driver didn’t care about the bodies, he sure as hell wasn’t gonna complain about court saving his life.. besides he’s done something similar with a shotgun before.. so who is he to judge in the first place? Not to mention that he’s seen his own mother kill his own father, so death didn’t really phase him
When court pulls away from the kiss he allows a moment to relax by resting his head against the man’s chest, listening to his heart beat
“Im sorry i didn’t come sooner.. maybe it could’ve avoided you getting hurt.. but I’m glad i came when i did.. sorry for your roof by the way..”
Driver wish he could put into words how happy he is that court is alive.. is he well? Not exactly, but he’ll settle for alive, driver has never found himself this worried for someone… sure Irene had him worried, but he was able to protect Irene
“Im… really happy you’re okay sweetheart”
He blushes when he realizes what he says, he did NOT mean to call him something so.. sweet.. their relationship was still new.. they didn’t even call each other boyfriends yet
“S-sorry.. that just slipped out”
Rustle, clank, "Shhhh, they're gonna hear us-"
Court ignores the very obvious sound of kids trying to 'sneak' up on them and shakes his head after Driver's settled on his chest, and he makes a soft sound of disagreement.
"Like I said, I've been hurt worse. A few scratches and a concussion is nothing. I'm sorry I didn't stop him quicker, getting elbowed in fresh stitches is the worst-"
Sweetheart...? He blinks at that one, like it's a brand new word or something that he's never encountered. Court knew he was many things, but someone that deserved being called sweetheart isn't really on the list. Still, he goes a little red and wraps his arms around Driver's shoulders before he props his chin on soft blond hair, and he lets his hands wander slowly over the skin of his back.
"Nothing to apologize for, I wasn't expecting it but I don't mind it. As long as you're the only one calling me that..."
Driver’s face scrunches in confusion. Who was ‘they’ and what did they want with court.. before he can ask the kids burst into the bathroom, which immediately has driver in panic mode
Court seems to know who they are.. considering he mentioned them and asked them for two shirts when they came in. They were also talking about some sort of medbay.. where exactly was driver??
“Okay slow down.. im not going anywhere’s half naked and covered in blood.. especially not with strangers”
He quickly pulls away from court and he wraps his arms around himself to try and conceal the amount of skin showing.. he didn’t mind around court but strangers and children was a different story
Sure he and court could use the benefits of a medbay especially because court’s head was bleeding but how can children even work there in the first place.. maybe court’s head was hit harder than he thought, maybe court didn’t actually know these children
"...It would take me too long to explain, there's been a lot of unofficial adoptions happening." Court sighs and takes the shirts before he shoos the kids out of the bathroom, they'd seen enough and Driver looked as uncomfortable as he was.
"I'm not going to leave you alone with anyone while we're there, I swear. But I think I have to concede defeat this time...our head wounds need more than a bottle of booze and a sewing kit. Let's get cleaned up and go, they won't leave without us."
He had a cloth by the sink before the little scuffle so he starts the sink, and he perches Driver on the counter again so he can get the worst of the blood with touches he tries to keep from lingering too long. More so from Court trying to confirm that he was still alive, but that part wasn't important.
“Unofficial adoptions..? Actually… Forget i asked, probably better..”
When court shoos the children out his shoulders become less tense, driver doesn’t like being seen as vulnerable by people.. he’s come to appreciate vulnerability with court but it’s only court that he enjoys that vulnerability with
He happily complies to getting cleaned up, his skin was dry and uncomfortable from the blood, which was mostly his
“Okay.. but i don’t wanna sleep there, we can stop by and get fixed up and whatever else they wanna do.. but my one request is that we sleep here.. in your bed tonight, provided that everything gets cleaned up..”
He plays with court’s hair as the man washes him up, before taking the cloth from him and beginning to wash the older blood off of court, the new blood will have to be handled at the medbay
“I don’t wanna sleep without you tonight.. not after everything that’s happened, we’ve both had too many close calls today”
He gently kisses court’s forehead before setting the cloth aside and getting off of the counter, driver quickly pulls the shirt that court had asked for on before turning to the man
“That’s a little better… put your shirt on before we go, i don’t need anyone gawking at what belongs to me”
Driver didn’t know who hung around here, it could just be those kids, it could be his family, or it could be other adults who would very much gawk at court if they saw him shirtless
He wants to point out that the vast majority of other adults in the dome were either related to him or involved with his relatives, but the possessive streak is cute and Court can't help but laugh as he's cleaned off.
"I'll get the place cleaned up while they work on you, it won't take me long and I'm not the one that needs stitches," He hums, and instead of the t-shirt he snatches a zip-up hoodie to help Driver into that smalls like cheap aftershave. "At least I'll get the bodies out and make sure we can sleep here, actual cleaning will happen later."
Truth be told all Court wants is to collapse onto the nearest horizontal surface and sleep for 12 hours, but he can't yet. He yanks a shirt over his head and shivers with exhaustion as he rests his head on Driver's shoulder, careful not to jostle him too much as he tries to catch his breath. The kids could wait a minute.
*I peek in the door*
are u guys done procrastinating so we can get u actual help, me nd @goosiegurlie have been waiting out here for like 15 minutes
also I will be driving u guys to the medbay, no complaining
*I pop my head through the door as well*
Uh, yeah, Driver needs his stitches redone and I'm pretty sure that papa needs to get checked for a concussion.
“No you said you’d come with me.. besides you need your head looked at.. im no medic and i don’t trust the judgement of a man who claims his head was used as a punching bag for someone’s gun, so you’re coming with me sweetheart.. we can clean up together”
He smiles and wraps his arms around court’s torso when he feels the man rest his head against his shoulder, the moment felt peaceful until the children popped in again
Driver quickly pulled away from court and he turns around to face the children, giving them a small thumbs up
“We’re coming.. we’re just appreciating that we’re not dead”
He turns around again to face court after the kids stop peaking in the bathroom, he gives court a quick kiss before mumbling softly
“Please tell me we can do pizza and movies at my place.. your place seems to be very crowded”
He was talking about the agents and the lack of privacy that he’s able to get with the kids around, his introverted self was all done socializing for the next week.. except which court, he knows he can exist in comfort silence with him
@sierrasix-official
"Alright, alright...I'd be more useful if I was here on cleanup duty, but I guess I promised I'd go. Can't let my brain turn into soup." Court laughs softly and accepts the kiss with a hum as he listens for the front door to click shut. He would admit that the head wounds probably needed looking at, for both of them...but he wishes it could wait.
He nods at the accusation of his place being crowded and huffs contently; New rule, no kids allowed at Driver's. He doesn't mind them being around, of course he doesn't, but privacy is hard to come by and Court just wants to be able to relax without worrying about it.
"Pizza and a bad movie at your place, agreed. Less chance we'll get ah...interrupted." Or made to socialize when they both want to crawl out of their skin, he thinks to himself as he links his and Driver's hands to walk outside. Court knows they're going to be fussed over and chatted at the entire time they're in the med bay by well-meaning medics and family, but that thought fills him with more dread than anything. Anticipating all that attention makes him want to crawl under a rock and take Driver with him.
*me nd @goosiegurlie were waiting on the steps to the door, talking, when we hear you walk out*
U two are finally done procrastinating, now let’s get to the medbay so u can get checked up
*we walk over to a red van parked in the driveway, with stickers all over the sides, I climb into the driver seat with @goosiegurlie in the passenger*
u guys sit in the back, no complaining, after u get checked up we can also drive u guys back here, or if u guys wanna go in Driver’s car, we can drop u off there….wherever there is
hey uncle colt, I think it’s been quite over 24 hours….do u still have the tail nd ears
*sneakily hiding surgical scissors behind my back*
I do... It's lasted for way too long!
That’s amazing!
*sneakily puts the scissors in the side pouch of my backpack*

*I'd snort at that, holding up my hands defensively*
I can swear on my cats' lives that we won't hurt you. We wanna help. That's Siz,
*I'd nod my head back towards @sizzleq2*
One of Court's many nieces and nephews and...niblings? That's the gender neutral term for your sibling's kid, right?? Anyway, uh, I'm Goose, his adoptive daughter. A pleasure to meet ya.
HI :) this isn’t really the way I thought we would meet
but yeah, we’re here to help u guys
(After he gets cleaned up with court and he has a fresh shirt on he comes out of the bathroom)
“Okay.. we’re good to go.. but try anything funny and i won’t hesitate to fight”
He’s skeptical of them, naturally so.. he’d been nearly murdered today by someone he didn’t even know
Relax, we won’t try to murder u, cuz we both know that if we do @sierrasix-official will not find anyone else
anyway, the vans in the driveway nd I’m driving, no if, ands, or buts
*we walk outside to a dark red van sitting in the driveway with a bunch of stickers, I climb into the driver seat with @goosiegurlie in the passenger*
u guys can hop in the back
If the Grammar sucks i ask that you please ignore it, im no writer.. im deaf and im tired.
*Me and @sizzleq2 step into the house, taking in the scene. Then I spot you and @night-call-driver and a small, relived grin spreads across my face*
Well, you seem to be doing decent enough, other than the head wound. Driver is definitely gonna be in the medbay for a while though. At least you'll get to see him more often?
Told you to stay outside- Hm. Can you go in the bedroom and grab two shirts. We're both kind of...yeah. We're getting cleaned up and we'll report to the med bay soon.
Sure, but we said we’re going to drag ur asses to medbay one way or another
*grabs the shirts nd throws them at the two of u*
now hurry up
Also, me and Siz literally brutally murdered a bunch of Victorian Era cops with a flame thrower and grenade launcher. The scene that is this house isn't worse than that.
yeah that was fun
anyways chop chop we’re let’s get u to medbay before @sierrasix-official losses too much blood nd so @night-call-driver can get medicine nd shit

So, uh, now that you're done with that fight at your place since you didn't let us come and help, could you at least let me and @sizzleq2 drag your ass to the medbay to get a check-up?
It's just a little head wound, I didn't want you guys involved because people are dead now. I didn't want anyone else getting hurt because of me.
Exactly, they’re DEAD u don’t always need to push away help when someone offers it

Yeah papa, a head wound is a head wound, we should probably get Alec to check it just in case. We WILL drag you there if we have to.
