there's something really special about how seriously expedition 33 takes grief in all its ugly and painful and destructive forms. in a media landscape where i feel like films and games have shied away from making the audience uncomfortable, expedition 33 is truly unapologetic about presenting grief as an unavoidable facet of life that NEEDS to be confronted. there's no comfort there. just the reality that life is beautiful and horrible and you will experience joy and pain and sometimes pain is just pain without any lesson or hope. sometimes its just surviving it.

i cant believe how well exp33 does as making (real) verso felt everywhere in the world. esquire, who he created to comfort any sadness. the gestrals, charming and funny and dumb, who enjoy fighting just to fight. the grandis, who would have poetry tournaments bc verso also believed in the beauty of art.
