He is so filthy rich, he could just sit it all out on his huge estate far away from the slums of the city. He could just ignore the broken justice system because that would be the easiest and most comfortable thing to do. He has enough power, money and influence to spend the rest of his life living it up especially after what happened to his parents.

And one piece of criticism I see of him sometimes is how "Oh, he only started caring about crime in Gotham after it affected him personally" (Martha and Thomas' deaths) and it's like, well, yeah. He was kind of. A child. Before that. It's sort of hard to fight corruption when you're busy learning how to walk and shit.

Some people argue that the blue Batsuit is more interesting and makes narrative sense if interpreted as an alternative design that Bruce made for not to scare the children. While I like the blue suit, one of the reasons I find the black one more interesting is precisely the opposite of the idea that the black batsuit scares children.

Batman, that intimidating, muscle-bound man dressed as a creature of darkness in the gloomy night of the world's most dangerous city, doesn't scare the children. Not at all.

But why would he? He's always such a kind gentleman to them.
