All Through the House - w/ sinnihte
And so the charade continued? Dorian braced himself and looked up to meet the vampire’s gaze. And all he saw was… a sort of placating curiosity. Tobias was… humoring him. Normally that would’ve made things worse, but right in this moment it was the best realization in the world! “Alright then, you asked for it…” And so the immortal told Tobias everything. He told him about their life together… about the vampire’s choice to die. About the tarot cards that had brought the other man back to him… brought back his heart’s desire. And then he told of that damned hotel… and the choice he’d made. The choice which took Tobias from him. And finally, of the asylum, and everything that had transpired right up until the moment he woke up here - back in Tobias’ bed.
By the time his tale was done, Dorian was sitting cross-legged on the bed, sheets wrapped around him, hands groping the fabric tightly. “So… there you have it. Either I really have lost my mind, or someone somewhere is looking out for me, or I’m dead.” He stopped and looked Tobias over. “Although I’m currently having a very hard time believing this is Hell…” A smirk tugged at his lips as he remembered that first night with the vampire from all those years ago. God! He wanted this to be real! But after everything he’d done, did he deserve for it to be…?
Tobias listened to Dorian speak without uttering a word. To be frank, it was a little much… even for him. They’d just met, after all. The compliment at the end was met with a soft smirk, but then the vampire shook his head. “You realize I don’t have any reason to believe you. Just because you know about my sire… my old life… doesn’t mean…” He broke off with a frown and a shake of his head, staring intently at the beautiful man in his bed. The beautiful (crazy?) man. And yet, Dorian seemed to fill all the missing bits of himself… like plaster for every fine-lined crack. Was a life - a real relationship that went beyond just the sex - all that impossible to imagine?
“Alright, let’s say, for argument’s sake, that everything you’re saying is true. What happens now? Do we just… start all over again? Or do you intend to try and figure out what happened? And what will you do if you can’t change things?” Tobias ran a hand through his hair in an almost absent-minded way. “And what you said about me… about wanting to die…” His frown deepened. “I don’t know why I would make that choice. Which means…” He eyed Dorian carefully, watching for a reaction as he finished the sentence. “... there’s every possibility I might choose to make it again.”
