The imminent presence of death was nothing any of them should be torn by in a place like where they roamed. Juno understood from the beginning that this was the new way of life. The only way of life, if they were to embrace breath in any shape or form. It didn’t bother them. All who knew them would easily forget them. They would go on despite the missing piece of their visual. Roam on in a world that Juno would never get to know if their prediction of this place were true - and so far they had proven nothing less. It was a reality they didn’t sweat. The same happened to them in return. Juno’s world they would never know, and over time their image would vanish along with their memory. Out of sight, out of mind felt gradually more accurate as the days went on.
Gathering the fruit bowl they’d been shaping for the last thirty minutes of their day, Juno moved it to the side to set before torching then refining its edges. A glance out their window told them it was time to leave. If they wanted to catch the sunset before bunkering down for the evening then they better keep it moving. Juno had sweetened Roux with a bottle of vodka they’d managed to pillage earlier that day in their leader’s home. Nothing that would have gone unseen surely, but they didn’t linger with unsettled thoughts.
“ I assumed we’d meet at the docks. ” Juno spoke, voice low and raspy from not having spoken in hours. They cleared their throat and walked towards the sink to cleanse the clay off their hands and scoop up some water to drink. “ But I’m not opposed to the accompanied walk. Unless you’re here to change plans, in which case, I declined. My schedule's already been cleared. ” they went on, loosely resembling humor.
